Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 28 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
One of the most criminally underrated games released last year, this game doesn't get talked about nearly enough. The gameplay loop feels very rewarding partly because it's really simple to play. Each room feels like a puzzle perfectly crafted to test the player. It's difficult, but entirely possible once you get used to facing each enemy. The soundtrack is a little jarring if you're not acquainted with Japanese hip-hop but I dig it, and the story feels very anti "the end of history and the last man" which I also found pretty fascinating. I haven't played Hotline Miami, but if it's anything like SONOKUNI (the art style is already there) it must be good.

Developed by DON YASA CREW and published by Kakehashi Games, SONOKUNI is a stylish top-down action game that distinguishes itself through a fearless combination of lightning-fast combat, surreal biopunk aesthetics, and Japanese folklore. Rather than relying on familiar post-apocalyptic tropes, it creates a world where advanced biotechnology and ancient tradition collide, resulting in an experience that feels both unsettling and visually captivating. From the moment the journey begins, the game establishes a unique identity through its artistic direction and uncompromising design philosophy, offering players a brutal but rewarding adventure that values skill, determination, and thoughtful storytelling over accessibility. Players take on the role of Takeru, a lone assassin sent on a dangerous mission to challenge a technologically advanced superpower whose society has been transformed through genetic engineering. The narrative focuses on the difficult choices that arise when protecting one's homeland comes at the cost of countless lives, presenting moral conflicts without offering simple answers. Instead of portraying a clear struggle between good and evil, the story explores themes of sacrifice, survival, and the consequences of violence. This approach gives the adventure greater emotional depth, encouraging players to think beyond the immediate action while gradually uncovering the strange and haunting world surrounding Takeru. The gameplay is uncompromising in its design, revolving around one-hit-kill mechanics that demand precision, quick reactions, and complete concentration. Every enemy encounter becomes a carefully planned puzzle where timing is everything. Success depends on understanding attack patterns, making intelligent use of defensive techniques such as parrying, and mastering the game's time manipulation mechanics to create openings during overwhelming battles. Every mistake carries significant consequences, but each failure also teaches valuable lessons that contribute to gradual improvement. Rather than rewarding players with increasingly powerful equipment or character upgrades, SONOKUNI emphasizes personal growth, allowing genuine skill development to become the primary source of progression. This creates an incredibly satisfying gameplay loop where victories feel earned through mastery instead of numerical advantages. Visually, SONOKUNI delivers one of its strongest impressions through its vibrant pixel art and imaginative environmental design. Neon-lit landscapes blend with grotesque biological creations, producing scenery that constantly shifts between beautiful and disturbing. Enemy designs reinforce the game's unsettling atmosphere, while the environments communicate the corruption and excess of a civilization driven by unchecked scientific ambition. Complementing these visuals is an exceptional soundtrack created by DON YASA CREW, featuring energetic Japanese hip-hop that fuels the intensity of every encounter. The music perfectly matches the speed of combat, adding rhythm and momentum that make every successful dodge, counterattack, and perfectly executed assault feel even more exhilarating. Together, the audiovisual presentation transforms each battle into an experience that is as memorable as it is demanding. The game's uncompromising difficulty may not appeal to every player. Frequent deaths are inevitable, especially during the early hours, and progression requires patience, observation, and repeated practice. Those seeking a more forgiving action experience may find its harsh learning curve intimidating, while players who prefer direct storytelling might find the narrative's symbolic and atmospheric presentation somewhat abstract. However, these design decisions are deliberate and contribute to the game's distinctive personality rather than feeling like unnecessary obstacles. SONOKUNI never hides its intentions, consistently challenging players to improve while immersing them in a world unlike most contemporary action games. SONOKUNI ultimately succeeds because it refuses to compromise its creative vision. It combines demanding combat, imaginative world-building, memorable music, and thought-provoking storytelling into an experience that feels refreshingly original within the indie action genre. Its fusion of mythology, biotechnology, and stylish presentation creates an unforgettable atmosphere, while its precise gameplay rewards persistence with immense satisfaction. Although its unforgiving mechanics limit its appeal to a broader audience, players who enjoy mastering difficult action games will likely find it to be one of the genre's most distinctive and rewarding modern releases. Soundtrack's insane, gameplay is fire, art cool, will never be getting 100% because this game is HARD AF.

This game is a treat from start to finish - it takes the essence of Hotline Miami - but does its own thing entirely. Great art, soundtrack and clearly a lot love went into this game - the last boss is real ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard (but fair) though.
