SONOKUNI has a fantastically stylish presentation on all fronts, with amazing art and music (glad I took a chance on the bundle with the OST). I have some slight complaints in the gameplay department - the difficulty is a little uneven (boy, that last boss is a doozy), sometimes the boundaries on the rooms and environment are unclear - but this is one of those games that is way more than the sum of its parts. I actually found the narrative surprisingly affecting; despite the game's trippy presentation, it's basically just a folk story/mythological tale about the fear of culture being forgotten in the long arc of history. But I thought the game did a good job conveying all the emotions and frustrations of this in the protagonist, framed against the oncoming assimilation. A short but sweet experience that is definitely worth experiencing for yourself.
