Very good and fun game! The gameplay is seriously amazing because it's fast and very nice , visuals and music are so good , boss battles are fine too , also game is challenging type and i can recommended this game for anyone. The only thing what i want to see with upcoming updates its that jumping and movement elements become improved a bit. Overall it's not bad but still it can become just a bit better. Trought spending time playing this game , you can clearly see that developers seriously care about to improve this game more and more for better experience which is big plus to see nowadays. I hope that developers will see my review about it and keep improving more and more! And seriously now , if you never before play any metroidvania game , if you want to try something new , then give a try for this one because seriously it's worth it!
At the time of this review, there is a lot of room for improvement w.r.t certain aspects such as controls/feel, the starting weapon, some UI refinement, and the occasional bug. However, the foundations for an enjoyable gaming experience is there - and with active improvements in the works - this game can be a fine pickup for anyone who enjoyed the likes of Megaman/X/Zero, Dead Cells etc. Some positives: + skill expression through varied combat: with many attack types (charge/directional/etc), many defensive tools (dodge/parry/shield), free weapon switching, and further upgrades by finding & slotting in chips + distinct enemies: they are all fairly easy to identify at a glance and usually have 2+ attacks in their moveset, always providing a baseline level of challenge + in-game "screenshot": presumably to keep track of environmental clues/storytelling without having to backtrack, so long as you remember to use it + chips upgrade system: a neat little tetris-esque minigame, refreshing departure from the usual inventory system in other games + level/backdrop design: while i've only seen around 4 zones so far, they all look and feel distinct with well-defined identities and their fair share of picturesque moments, should you pay attention to details in the foreground and background Some negatives: - punishing starting weapon: the axes have low damage, you need 2 directional hits to kill the numerous flying enemies in the starting zone; its short range forces you to jump to hit even low-flying enemies and increases the odds of you taking damage doing so; all the while not being fast enough compared to the other weapons to justify the downsides - imperceptible/no invulnerability window: the player does not temporarily ignore damage when they take a hit (or for such a short time as to not matter), so you can easily lose a ton of health in a flash, especially when fighting multiple enemies + environmental hazards. - inconsistent enemy stagger: some enemies (e.g. flying enemies in starting zone) do not stagger out of their attack animation when hit, leading to a lot of HP-trading especially when you're using the axes as you cannot kill them in one directional hit - wonky animation timings: some attacks have a lot of animation lock, like the aerial directional attack, with no ability for the player to cancel out of the backswing until presumably when you unlock air dash (unsure if this exists, i have not gotten far enough but some environmental design suggests that it is unlockable). by itself this isn't a big problem, but combined with the lack of an invuln window makes some attacks incredibly risky to attempt. some other attacks ignore the base weapon speed/combo timing, such as the grounded up-swing firing off way too fast on the slower weapons. A minor bug I found: some walls/corners can cause the player model glitch into a perpetual falling animation, presumably due to some miniscule gap in the terrain that the model can "fall" into but not actually move Although there are certainly flaws as I've mentioned above, it appears the developer is aware of and actively working on many - if not all - of these issues and more. For that reason, I'd say give this game a chance, and check back often.
Resetna is a great sci-fi metroidvania and I enjoyed playing it. Having 3 different weapons made the combat interesting for me, bosses were made pretty challenging, but I loved them. At first I missed leveling, but chips make up for it (Tetris-like upgrade system with upgrading, similar to how charms work in HK). Enemy variety is well-balanced, with satisfying forced battles. Platforming starts simple but ramps up later, rewarding exploration with materials, lore and upgrades. For platforming enjoyers, by the end of the game there are a couple of sections which definitely scratched that part of my brain that was missing it. The difficulty feels fair—challenging but never unfair. Resetna isn’t groundbreaking and doesn't offer much innovations to the genre, but that's not a bad thing, it’s a fun, well-crafted entry in the genre. Worth playing!
Simply put, do not buy this game. It feels like an alpha that should have been released in early access at best. This is massive edit to my review after completing the game. Is ReSetna a full game? Yes, you can play the game from start to end-credits, but the game is bug ridden and has serious pacing issues. It does not feel properly playtested. The story is mostly told through codex entries you pick up as you play the game. The in-game story is very minimal and, honestly, doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The entries are so fragmented, it's hard to make sense of it all until you collect a bunch. I honestly didn't even bother. The game boasts 20+ hours on the store page. This is a lie. I beat the game in a little over 9 hours, and 1-2 of those hours were me attempting to complete an incredibly frustrating chase sequence that ended up just being an achievement and not something required to complete the game. I can't fathom getting another 11 hours out of this game, even if I tried to collect everything. The combat needs a lot of work. Enemies do not die very fast, but are easily dealt with by dashing through them and attacking them from behind. The game starts out very slow. Enemies feel like damage sponges, especially the first boss. There's a parry button, but it locks you into a long counter-attack animation, and doesn't feel particularly worth it. One huge issue is that when you get hit, the game just stuns you. Were you mid-attack? Stun. Were you jumping? Stun and you fall to the ground. When fighting multiple enemies, particularly ones with projectiles, this gets incredibly frustrating as you end up getting stun locked if you try attacking or jumping away. Speaking of combat, the game has three weapons, but they do not feel like side grades. While each weapon has something somewhat unique about it, the damage never improves on the older weapons. Once I got the spear, I never used anything else. The game never requires the use of each weapon's unique properties, like the axe's ability to throw a projectile. This seems like a missed opportunity. The game features some precision platforming elements, but good god can the controls be infuriating. As already mentioned, if you get hit while jumping, you lose all momentum and fall straight down. There is a warp ability that acts sort of like a grapple to floating nodes placed around the environment. It took me a long time to figure out that if you hold a direction while warping, the game kills your momentum. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to make it far enough until I realized if I didn't hold a direction, the game would properly launch me with momentum. Wall jumping is also very annoying. For some reason double jumping after jumping off a wall is delayed and very finicky. ReSetna also suffers from some very weird pacing. The game starts out very typical. You explore. You find a boss. You get a power up. You unlock access to more areas. Then, all of a sudden, I unlocked several abilities in a row with no boss in between, unlocked some chip upgrades, all the weapons, and the game became a walk in the park. My health was larger, regenerated, and I came back from death. Usually in a Metroidvania you go through a loop of explore > boss > power up > explore > boss > power up, but past the very beginning of the game, they just throw everything at you and suddenly you're all-powerful. Speaking of weird pacing, the game has awful breadcrumbing. There were two instances I was completely lost. One was a ladder that was barely visible in the top-right of the screen. I'm not the only one that had this issue, as I know at least two other people I've spoken with have missed this ladder. Another was a teleporter I apparently missed. Without it being displayed on the map, it was difficult to find. Typically in a Metroidvania, you go to areas with locked doors or rooms you haven't explored to find your way forward, but an unmarked teleporter left me exploring every nook and cranny for what I missed. I even missed an important vendor in the hub area for a while because it's a bit out of the way and the game never forces you to meet them. Quests are poorly implemented. Some require items from around the map, but when you pick up said item it doesn't tell you what it is or does. There was an entire set of items I had no idea what they were for. When turning in the quest, I didn't even know what my reward was. No pop-up or anything. Items around the map are easy to miss. The lore items are literally a faint white glow on the ground. The game does a poor job of distinguishing some treasure from regular background objects until you get used to what they look like. The game boasts 7 biomes offering unique experiences, but these barely change anything. The most unique area was the acid area, but past that each area's theme is...a color? I guess? This one's blue. This one is red. They don't offer anything unique like store page states. Lots of rooms are huge, empty spaces. Most biomes are just sterile, metallic areas with the corresponding color applied to it. Some of the bosses were pretty neat, but once the game throws all the upgrades at you, they lack a challenge. Most of the bosses are after this point. The last "boss" is a joke, and super anticlimactic. But lets talk about the bugs. Oh, the bugs. This game has bugs galore. From enemies spawning outside the combat zone, to text appearing and staying on your screen, to walls you can walk through, to respawn points not being properly places allowing you to skip areas, to treasure you can't loot, to an entire side-quest you can't complete because the NPC will not talk to you, and more. Simply put, this game is not ready for full release. It feels like a game that was only maybe a third complete, but they hurried and slapped the rest of the game together to call it complete. The game has clearly not be QAed properly. There are bugs galore and issues like getting stunned on hit that make the game feel awful to play. Best of luck to the devs, but ReSetna offers very little new to the genre and is far from a polished product. They are supposedly fixing bugs and are aware of the bad combat feel, but I don't think that's going to fix the deep seated issue of game pacing that needs a complete overhaul of the game. With the game being at full release, I just don't see it happening. I can't recommend this game at all, especially in its current state.
This game is close to good but ends up feeling so janky. The movement is fluid but the combat is clunky. The throw weapon ability and the aiming associated with using it is by far the worst designed thing, you aim and move with the same button which makes it annoying to use. The game does a poor job explaining most things so as you buy stuff or unlock things its kinda a figure it out type thing. The map design is just ok, sure its an interconnected map but the path you need to follow is relatively linear. Graphically the game is beautiful art work but there are some annoying things i noticed like the hitboxes on spikes (environment damage) and then sometimes you walk off a ledge and the character is walking up an invisible ramp. Game has potential to be alot better but needs alot of polish.
Solid Metroidvania. For 50% off at the time of this review, this game is a no-brainer to pick up and beat if you like metroidvanias. It's about 7-12 hours long depending on how fast you fly through it, I had fun until the end. Pros: - Movement feels fantastic, I found it similar to Prince of Persia the Lost Crown. Just dashing around the levels felt good. - Great boss fights with good mechanics. - Beautiful environments. - Decent combat, the weapons felt fun to use. The down attack abilities were definitely a highlight. - The powerup/upgrade tetris mini-game was funny and interesting. - You really get the power creep feeling at the end of the game if you play tetris upgrades of the same colors correctly, at the end you end up with a ton of HP, blasting ranged spears with the right stick and a strong hp regen. It's shows good progression from weak to strong. Cons: - The soundtrack left a bit to be desired, I actually thought the music was a little too low volume compared to the character sounds. - The game could've used some more ambience. - I ran into some bugs with Xynexis's mind as well as not being able to submit the Synapsis side-quest. - The currency was all pretty useless, there wasn't much to buy and there's too many currencies.
Resetna is a game worth playing if nothing else soley due to how incredibly passionate, kind and motivated these devs are. They fixed an issue i had within days of reporting it, helping me troubleshoot it every step of the way, even during the weekend! Since launch they've been tirelessly at work patching and improving the game and honestly in its current state its a great time. Sure it's not the most insane game you'll ever have played but i don't think that's needed. Even just a fun weekend spent playing a game is enough for me and resetna is exactly that. I pretty much 100% completed the game over a few sessions and really enjoyed that mostly due to smooth controls and fun combat. Combat is the main appeal here and while it has some moderately challenging aspects, the game is not all that hard. That doesn't make it any less satisfying though, every weapon of 3 that you have access to is satisfying in its own way due to very smooth controls and fun combo's. The down attack and air slam especially are punchey with great sound effects and cool visuals. You can cleave through most enemies quite easily which is satisfying but some fight back quite a bit. The enemy variety is not insane but not small either and they're all very unique with some really creative ones thrown into the mix such as one that basically turns into a motorcycle. Bosses stepped this up another notch and were not only visually amazing but also in terms of gameplay. The bosses are the biggest highlight in resetna with each and every single one being a joy to face. None are overly difficult but the amount of different attack each one has was incredible. The average metroidvania boss has like 3 to 4 moves but i don't think there was a resetna boss with less than 10 attacks. They also change things up in new phases as their health gets lower, something i always adore in bossfights! I think that if they ever add a hard mode to resetna i would consider coming back to the game just to fight these bosses again. They can get very hectic though so if you want a real challenge try to do them hitless! Like i said combat and especially bosses are the strongest aspect of this game but not the only one. Movement in general is also very fun although the 'grapple shot' took a while to get used to. Once i did it became a lot of fun though. Unfortunately you can't move your camera around in resetna, which makes you do a few blind jumps, something that i normally don't like but resetna barely punishes you for that with no real environmental damage from falling in 'bottomless' pits. As a whole once you've gotten used to it platforming is pretty fun in this game. There's nothing super crazy as it plays it mostly safe but it was enjoyable. With the exception of one escape sequence boss that was a bit unfair. Mostly because of all the blind jumps but it was manageable all things considered. This sequence is one of the things that the devs have patched since launch because it used to be a lot worse, which shows their willingness to improve the game. And all things considered they don't have that much more to fix appart from controler drift going haywire in the menus. This makes navigating them pretty hard and its the only real annoyance i have with the game, but most people may not have controler drift and thus not have this issue. Other than that the game controls pretty well although the double jump from a wall is a bit finnicky at times which can make platforming very occasionally a bit rough. Luckily the level design is solid so you'll never have to difficult of a section. Level design in general is decent on a room by room basis but mostly basic however on a macro scale the map is wonderfully interconnected and quite open. It's pretty great at doing the metroidvania things and the map is nice and clear. It doesn't mark things on the map though but you can place markers and even up to 10 screenshots. All of this makes for a fun map to 100% explore with tons of things to find, from logs to currency or most fun of all the 'charms' which also have the unique design that they're shaped like tetris blocks for your grid. It's not perfectly balanced but it's a fun variation of the notches system. Just one more unique thing this game does but not the last one no, the designs of all the characters are also very unique, both npc's and enemies. In a suprisingly fun way i actually felt like i was playing a bionicle game at times, especially due to the weapons resetna carries. I LOVED bionicles as a kid, i still do so this game was extra awesome for me this way. The robots all have a very scrapy feel too which reminded me of signal from tolva as well. There's also the environments that are super unique in this game. The starting biome and acidic wastes are kinda basic but the area named fractalis is super cool and reminded me of code lyoko another nostalgia blast. Despite nog being the highest fidelity 2.5D game i actually found the visuals to be very cool and there's no argueing the world is intrigueing. The narrative maybe matches this but i can't say for sure. I don't think i fully grasped every piece of lore as some events are not fully explained afaik, although i made the mistake of reading the logs at the end of the game, maybe i shouldn't have done that because all these npc's were talking about things i didn't grasp fully. I don't think this thing is a narrative masterpiece by any means but it does deal with cool scifi transhumanist topics which is always cool. The environmental storytelling was cool though, everywhere in the first biome were robots scavenging or malfunctioning in the back & foregrounds which was a cool touch. There's no voice acting though which makes sense for the robots but the sound effects they made gave them some personality. The music on the other hand did match the game but is kinda forgetfull. This is the case for most mv's though so i can't hold it against it as it wasn't distracting or anything. I'm a sucker for a good OST but i can live with an unremarkable one if it's not annoying. Finally there was performance and polish which the game did alright on. Other than the controler deadzone there were no major hinderances other than a few missing collectibles which the devs kindly solved for me. Performance was good with no fps drops or crashes and load times other than the initial one were quick. It's a technically sound game made by lovely devs and at a discount is 100% worth playing. Not a must play MV by any means but i damn good way to spend a day off!
I really wanted to like this game, but it is just not good. Still have annoying bugs after lots of patches. I just stopped having fun. Exploration is not satisfying, enemies became annoying, rooms are not interesting. Too bad.
This has gone through a lot of improvements since the last time I tried it out and its currently somewhere between decent and mediocre. It lacks originality, has quite a few minor bugs and has pointless dead ends, but it was ok until I found myself stuck with nowhere to go. It seems like maybe I was supposed to pick up an ability in acidia that I sonehow missed. With no map on demajen and absolutely no desire to retrace all my steps in acidia, I decided to drop this. as for steam deck compatibility, it does work on the steam deck but it is absolutely not "fully optimised" for it. You will need to go into settings and change the resolution to 720p and also disable chromatic abberation and set shadows and depth to medium. Then it will work. This game does deserve praise for its screenshot marker, similar to PoP TLC, but also deserves critisism for how glitchy the regular markers are.
Jogo platinado com sucesso , Facil de fazer os 100% , conquista mais dificil matar um chefe sem levar dano, Pena que é um jogo que só vai ficar bom mesmo do meio para frente quando vc vai gostar do jogo ele acaba mais recomendo .
