Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
13 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Aug 14 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I do get why people don't like this game, and it definitely does NOT meet the standards of what 'sonic 4' should be, but it is still good and can be fun if you like 2.5D platformers. my only personal issue with the game is just how sonic himself looks, he looks really shiny and weird. but its not that hard to ignore.
play through the second Acts of Casino Street Zone and Lost Labyrinth Zone on the mobile version. try to rack up 100,000 points in Casino Street Zone before the timer runs out. then try tilting your entire phone around just so sonic can ride a minecart. then come back and play those acts on this version. see the difference?

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

the game is fun and good but the final boss was too hard
Bought this expecting a very basic and unimpressive platformer that might potentially just be excessively hated (I really wanted to play this as a kid on Wiiware), yet this ended up probably one of the worst games I've ever played LMAO. That'll teach me for being a contrarian dunce. The title screen looks ridiculously cheap (now i'm not one to bother whining about a title screen, but c'mon, this one is bordeline wimpy), the controls are sluggish, the levels are uncreative (seriously, the gimmick of the casino level is cards (that gave me like 30 lives in one level without trying hahaha) and.. colored ice cubes?? idk man), the game is hilariously short, the physics are screwed up, Eggman moves like he has a stick up his bum. The game doesn't even close itself properly on Steam! In addition, you'd think Sega didn't know how a ball functions in real life with how terrible the special stage physics are. The most infamous levels are readapted (labyrinth zone, metropolis), there's a dark section, a minecart section, a DARK MINECART section, oulala! Yeah, we're going there! And believe it or not, we're also going down Dimp's famously abundant bottomless pits™, just like good old Advance 2!! Apparently, Jun Senoue made the music, and he is known for being a pretty great sound producer-- but here, I don't know if he had a vendetta against SEGA (was his paycheck a sandwich or something?) because it all sounds just so terrible, it's not even close to the other games, only rivaled by maybe Sonic Chronicles. I'm certain I composed atleast one better song in my life than everything in this OST and it ain't my job. Listen, I get it, it's fun to experience all kind of games and make your opinion, but don't buy this. Not on a sale, not for the joke, not even for Eggman with a stick up his bum. I'm sure you can do that part yourself for much cheaper, too.
Jogo mt bom, recomendo, apesar de n ser mt aclamado, e possuir física e até bugs questionáveis, eu gosto mt e sinto nostalgia jogando, mas fica aquela sensação de q falta algo, dito isso: 9.5/10
This game is like the New Super Mario Bros. of Sonic games (which after the NSMB series first entry, ♥♥♥♥ started getting too stale and arguably neutered for certain entries), and this game really doesn't do. The physics are completely off, the lighting is atrocious, and the instrumentation of the songs is Jun Senoue trying to be "hip with the kids" despite his work on Sonic 3 & Knuckles being outstanding. This game is not that good. That being said, I find it hard to dislike it. Maybe it's my nostalgia for the mobile port of the game (which, historically, was what this game was designed for) and certain zones being better than their classic counterparts (shoutouts to Lost Labyrinth & Mad Gear). I think this game is a neat part of Sonic history, and I love it for what it is, but you're better off skipping this one if you're not nostalgically blind like I am.
Even though this is one of the weaker entries in the mainline series, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I is pretty much just another 2D Sonic game. Even if the physics were coded properly, it still suffers from the limited screen space problem that 2D Sonic games usually do. The level design was uninspired, the bosses were recycled just to give them an extra phase, and the overall density of content left much to be desired. The Hedgehogetry Stages were the best part of the package, but even that suffered from unpolished physics, keeping it from shining as much as it could have. I get that the whole point of the game was to essentially be a long-awaited sequel that returned the franchise to its roots, but isn't a few lazy remakes of a levels from Sonic 1 and 2 with new names kind of a stretch? Even as someone who fell out of the series after being such a massive fan of it for many years, I can see why this fell from grace shortly after a much better game came out in between episodes. Consider this one of the very few instances where the fans and I actually had a similar experience regarding the test of time for a game... minus the "forgetting about the initial positive reception" part.
