Written By Hidden Gems Review : https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38624426/
Review: Song Beater: Quite my tempo! is one of the best rhythm in VR.I played like 20 or 30 rhythm vr games and Song Beater must be in my Top 5 it's just fantastic rhythm game, even I can say has the level of beatsaber and better than similar box music games.Beside the great feeling I had punching this notes there are also other weapons for use not only it's boxing, even there is a tongfa O.oSong Beater is too a fitness game where you can even see the calories you burn. The graphics and visuals are really good and the ocean scenario looks awsome ! Great music VR game IMO. One of the features that sets it apart from others, is the different weapons. They all have their quirks but some of them really changes gameplay. The phasers (guns) works totally different from normal punching or saber-ing, and there's even a one handed dual-sided staff that is pretty unique (I am quite terrible at that weapon though). Custom song support just gives it infinite replay. They even directly support custom songs from other games, giving infinite replay value. The developers also have their own level editor to use if you fancy that. Each song has their own leaderboards, and this even extends to custom songs.
Super fun game and is pretty good exercise. You can also import custom songs which makes it even better!
I don't know if i would recommend just for fitness but more so on the arcade side , not alot of songs or ones that peak my interest in to going harder in the workouts, at this time its not for me ill stick with Fitxr aka boxvr, Will be checking back and forth to see what has been done , love the new UI looks pretty good and the game runs really good performance wise, i do love the ladder board which is pretty cool at least the devs offer a free demo
Geniale Alternative zu Beat Saber!!
Great game, lots of modes and options that I am yet to discover (note that I play this game more on my Quest than on Steam so the time on record is incorrect). The developers are constantly taking feedback into account as they keep working on perfecting the game, the tracks are solid (and there is support for custom tracks as well, even Beat Saber ones!)
I cant stop playing this game, ijts like you are out of the room
This recommendation comes with some asterisks meaning there are considerations I took that maybe others won't. Is this the best looking VR game? No. Does this have the best soundtrack? No. But, there are some things that put it just over the recommend line for me. The core gameplay is to hit orbs color and symbol coded for each hand coming toward you in time with the music, both of which are adjustable to your preference. The default style is boxing so a lot of punches are needed. Punch orbs, dodge laser beams. However, you're not told *how* to punch. As long as your spiked knuckles hits the appropriate orb, you're good. No minimum force and no specific direction. There may be sections where you need to pay closer attention but you're otherwise free to hit and move however you want. Dance if you'd like! You still have to be careful not to hit the wrong orb with the wrong hand, but it's otherwise not punishing and lets you just find a groove of your own. There are other weapons available from the start (not locked behind play like another orb based exercise app) to change up how you tackle the songs. Spiked knuckles default, saw blades, spinning tonfas, swords, guns, and a difficult to handle bo staff. Each change how you're handling each song so you can change it up if you get tired of just jabs. The songs are okay. You're not going to be seeing very familiar and popular artists here. But here's the thing for me: I appreciate that. Song Beater has a nice variety of genres so it caters a bit better to a wider music taste. If you felt other rhythm games were a bit too cast into specific sounds, the soundtrack in Song Beater may be refreshing for you. It's a little variety and something different that you're not likely to hear elsewhere. They may not be Top 10 tracks, but I appreciate what they bring. Customization is pretty good. As already mentioned, you can change the color of the orbs to better suit any color blindness or just wanting to keep it consistent from other rhythm games you play. I appreciated the orb spawn height adjustment as I have low ceilings so I was able to knock it down a notch to avoid punching my ceiling. If you're shorter or taller, you can adjust to your preference. The environments are also a nice touch so you're not necessarily in empty locations. The 360 mode was a neat touch if somewhat underwhelming to me. But, I can appreciate that it works with all songs and difficulties (something a particular slicing rhythm game cannot claim). They even changed up the laser grids to be laser shots you have to dodge to fit with the space station theme of the 360 mode. You can tell there is some ideas and creativity here. Song Beater isn't the best game. I can't even say it's a favorite. It's the creativity, free form play, and feature complete nature of the app that wins me over. I won't dedicate entire weeks to playing and mastering this but it's going to be a nice refresher to throw in between rhythm games to mix things up. And hey, what other app lets you box to music on top of a flying dragon? Give the demo a try and see for yourself!
Excellent alternative to some of the other rhythm games out there. Since purchasing Song Beater, it's become part of my daily workouts. The ability to use Beat Saber tracks is very well implemented and there is something about the game play that makes me choose it over the others. I really like the Club mode where you start a song and it progressively gets faster as you play. It's got great mechanics, a great interface and I can't imagine getting tired of it. I'm very impressed!
