Too many quirky bugs and frame drops that make this game feel clunkier than it actually is. For example, you can shoot your gun when you pause the game. Its my kind of game, but I would not recommend this game to anyone but myself.
I'm sad that I have to give this game a negative review but it quite frankly just does not work on the Steam Deck. You will have adequate performance up until a combat encounter happens and then the framerate will plummet into the bedrock, past robot hell from Futurama with the funny Bender man, and into the Earth's core. This keeps getting worse the longer the game goes on, and no, I don't mean a memory leak sort of thing, it's just a complete disintegration of the fabric of space-time that progresses in a linear fashion. If you play this on desktop though, hopefully you don't run into the same issue. I think this game has some cool ideas, I like the setting, the silly Sherlock quests, the surreality and surprising new enemy types. The Godot Engine unfortunately just can't quite handle it all.

It's too rough around the edges, and quite janky as well. There is a memory leak in the game too.
Dont recommend the game at all, there is nothing wrong with the game itself, its a lovely System Shock esque indie game. However its plagued with performance issues that literally will stop you playing the rest of the game because you get 8 fps just because you moved to a different floor and there are 2 enemies somewhere behind a wall you've not accessed yet. Even after years and using the steam discussions to find a fix its just been left to rot, and I doubt a fix will ever come in place.
Bizarre mixture of art styles, tones, and genres. It really feels like an amalgamation of different inspirations and interests all put together into one game. In the context of this game that's a good thing, very playful and well designed. Almost reminds me of Twin Peaks in tone, sometimes wacky and bizarre and sometimes horrifying and tense. Definitely a game with a ton of personality. Game also takes a "less is more" approach to character building that I really like, there's not a ton of different skills and abilities but they all feel fleshed out and distinct from another instead of like grindy filler that barely affects the way you play the game (see: Fallout 3, 4, and NV). Everything is super useful which makes the game super replayable as you have to pick and choose what bonuses you want to have and how you'll play around them. I wish more rpg-ish games were like this. Sonar Shock is not a perfect game, but what it does well is really well done.
A free form immersive sim dungeon crawler game that's like the missing link connecting System Shock 1 and System Shock 2. It has the systems and statistically driven elements of SS2 with the primitive graphical style and interface as SS1. It's a unique combination that may not be to everyone's taste. But I personally see it as a combination of some the of the pair's unique elements. It's very old school, the movement is cumbersome and your saves are limited by the amount of save disks you find in the world. The premise of the game is you're a crew member of the S1-Utopia, a Soviet super submarine. Strange creatures and supernatural phenomenon have wreaked havoc in what is essentially an enclosed city and you have to crawl through vents and scavenge up weapons and ammo and save the sub (maybe?), It's certainly a unique game where you build your character based on their personal experience and nationality(?) in relation to the Soviet territories and you can gain experience points by reading old Soviet and Eastern European literature.
This game could be absolutely fantastic if it wasn't so buggy. After losing my progress two times by being stuck under something when crouching, I have to drop it. It's truly a shame: the ambiance is great, the obvious inspiration to system shock was well done, and overall I would have loved to play it more if it had such bugs.
Very fun little system shock 1 style indie game. The writing is a little rough to say the least but I enjoyed my time and playthrough. Its certainly a little lacking in content in a few areas but for 8 dollars ( even less on sale ) its well worth your time and money. Great game for any fan of Immersive Sims and especially system shock 1. Tough sell for anyone else.
