Stickers for the dedicated, leaderboards for the daring
We love a responsive dev, and this one clearly listened. Compared to Silktrails 2: Cats in the grove, this is WAAAYYY better. You’re collecting dozens of cats across 11 available levels in a solarpunk world that can be relaxing (or mildly chaotic, depending on the mode you pick). This review reflects version v1.1 as of March 2nd, 2026. My full 100% run clocked in at 28 minutes. And yes, I inhaled it. There are 4 modes to set the vibe: Relax (no time limit), Chill (10 min), Moderate (5 min), and Hardcore (3 min). Solo is there, but there’s also VS and coop multiplayer, which I didn’t test, so I’ll let braver souls report back. You can revisit levels after completion just to admire the art, and there are surprisingly educational boards about solarpunk, which I knew absolutely nothing about before. Leaderboards exist for the competitive spirits, but only the top nine are visible and most are barely above one minute. Unless you’re secretly training for speedrunning glory, it’s not intimidating, and you’re never forced to look at them anyway. Hints recharge quickly and, from what I experienced, don’t seem to impact achievements. I used some and still reached 100%. You only need to complete each level once to unlock all 50 achievements, at least to my knowledge. Cats look like actual cats, which I appreciate deeply. Found cats are now a deeper green instead of neon, a very welcome change. You can choose level order freely, no bugs showed up for me, and there are stickers to collect. They don’t affect achievements, but you’ll need to clear all levels in all modes to unlock every single one. There are still elements that could be better though. You have to reset all levels to replay one, which feels counterintuitive in a game with leaderboards. Achievements lack clear descriptions, so you unlock them... but why? I got them all naturally, but I couldn’t tell you the logic behind half of them, and discussions suggest that’s not universal. There’s also less content than in Silktrails 2, around 30 minutes total instead of an hour, which makes the full price a bit steep. There are 11 playable levels, but a 12th slot sits there, unselectable. Dev mentioned an update is coming with that level, but I do hope it doesn’t bring a fresh wave of achievements. Completionists, you’ve been warned. Some cats are slightly see through before being found, which can make scanning odd at times, and movement at max zoom feels a bit like sliding through molasses. Not disastrous, just noticeable. Overall, not the strongest in the genre, but far from the weakest. On sale, it’s a good pick whether you want to lounge in Relax mode or sprint through Hardcore. It’s really for everyone. Just maybe wishlist it first.
When you're looking for a cozy HOG with a bit of challenging, competitive gameplay. XD

Introduction
Solnest is a cozy, hidden object game developed and published by Gallic Entertainment. You're introduced to a solarpunk-themed building, and your objective is to find all of the cute cats that are hidden in nine environmentally friendly rooms as well as the garden and rooftop. There are four difficulty levels: relaxed (no timer), chill (10 minutes), moderate (6 minutes), and hardcore (3 minutes). Regardless of the difficulty mode, in each room, the usual gameplay functions for HOGs are present, such as the zoom function via scrolling the mouse wheel and a hint function in the form of a magnifying glass that needs a bit of time to recharge after being used. You can play solo, co-op, and/or PvP. A cozy, relaxing soundtrack is available, and Steam achievements are obtainable, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game". In addition, cute cat stickers are unlocked as you complete a level for particular difficulty levels. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3714395877
Review
After playing a few visual novels in a row, I felt like having a change of pace and I enjoy cozy HOGs, so I decided to give Solnest a try. Thanks to the wonderful developer, I received a review copy. ^^ The gameplay is pretty standard for cozy HOGs. However, there are a few additions that make Solnest stand out from a lot of them - at least, the ones I've played up to this point. As I mentioned earlier, there are multiple difficulty options. I like that this is an option since you can make the gameplay as relaxing or challenging as you wish. However, I should note that if you want to obtain all the cat stickers (and probably, all the Steam achievements), then you'll need to play all the levels in all possible difficulty modes. This can take a bit of time, but it's worth it. Also, I like that there is a multiplayer option. Even though I haven't tried it yet (I tend to prefer playing games in single player mode), I like that the option is available to make the game more fun, playing with friends. All achievements are obtainable, and even though I enjoyed reading the descriptions for them, they aren't specific on how to obtain them. I'm guessing that they'll unlock naturally as you're playing through levels, regardless of difficulty. I didn't encounter any technical issues. However, I should note that the game can only be played in full screen mode. I would have liked for there to be a windowed mode option since I like to multi-task and all that. XD As for the art, it is totally gorgeous. I love this hand-drawn style, and I can tell that a lot of love was put into drawing the backgrounds and the cute cat sprites. The rooms really give off that environmentally-friendly vibe. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3714395341 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3714395710 In regards to the music, the tracks have this relaxing, lo-fi beat that's just perfect with this cozy game. There's this sense of peace as you're listening to the various tracks and finding all those cute cats, whether you're taking your time or under the clock. Of course, there are cute meowing sounds as well as you find and click the cats.
Conclusion
Would I recommend Solnest? If you're looking for a cozy, cat-themed hidden object game, you want a bit of competitive gameplay in a HOG, and/or you enjoy getting all those Steam achievements, then this is definitely worth trying out. I had a lot of fun finding all the cute cats and before I knew it, time just flew by. At the asking price, I'd say it's worth it for the love and time that was put into the art and whatnot, but you can wait for a sale, and it's in a Steam bundle. Finally, I'd like to take this time to thank Gallic Entertainment for the review copy. Solnest is a wonderful game to relax on a weekend or any day of the week, and afterwards, I couldn't help but take a look at the upcoming games. I'll just say that I'm very excited. ^^
For more detailed, fully complete, high quality reviews like this, please follow The Introverted Gamer, prioritizing heart and soul always. ^^
There are 11 levels in total, which you can play in any order you want. Each level is indoors, telling a small excerpt of the solarpunk-themed world. Most of its assets and sound effects seem to reuse the ones in Silktrails 2: Cats in the grove (my review), although luckily, it doesn't include that dreaded noisy sound that fires off when you find a side quest object. Unlike Silktrails 2: Cats in the grove, this game has no side quests. You only need to find cats in a level to finish it, which makes each level be completed in a short time. Cats are still hidden in plain sight, making you more overwhelmed to click on the cats rather than finding them. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3688301656 Still, some cats are hidden well in this game. And by that, I mean that they are drawn on top of other objects, making it hard to notice them unless you trace their outlines. Moreover, the hitbox can be very tricky; it's not triggering when you click on a cat's tail most of the time. Strangely, these very same cats will be colored with no other lines from the objects beneath them after you find them, making you wonder why the cat was drawn way in the first place. The gradient background that was implemented in each level helps to make the game look better. However, the cat's drawing negates this effect—their differing drawing quality makes them stand out. This makes all but the cats on top of the backgrounds easily searchable. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3714395710 The game has a hint system. It reuses the hint in Silktrails 2: Cats in the grove, which will show the cat location instead of giving an actual hint. Personally, I didn't like this approach since I still want to have the feeling of actually finding them. All of the in-game UI reuses the functionality from that game, especially since you have to wait after you complete a level until the level completion pops up; I didn't get a sticker, which is always obtained after you solve a level, in one of the levels because of it. Moreover, the level completion screen is just a mess—you can see three popups being stacked on top of each other at the same time. Furthermore, it's impossible to figure out which level you have completed when you reach the main menu unless you enter the level. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3696688270 The attempt to make the panning smoother backfires. The game has an automatic adjustment whenever you pan and zoom in. However, these features make the whole panning and zooming in a lot slower, giving more headaches than needed. I wish there were a way to toggle it off. Length and Difficulty Despite presenting more levels, having no side quests means that you only need to find the cats, and that contributes to the speed at which you can finish the game. I could finish it in 0.6h, which is 0.2h faster than when I completed Silktrails 2: Cats in the grove. Both are still short and less than 1 hour, but when you compare the quality, it becomes a contrast. As for the difficulty, the game can be easily finished with no effort. You'll find most of the cats without giving an effort, and by the time you're down with the last few ones, there is always the hint system that can help you find them.
Conclusion
Solnest seems like a downgrade compared to Silktrails 2: Cats in the grove. It has less content, and the gameplay becomes a headache with the automatic adjustment when you do panning and zooming in. As such, I didn't have much fun when I played the game, so I'm afraid I couldn't recommend this game. Nice game, however the cat noises are irritating and the achievements make NO sense. Pleasant with sound down.
The setting is a hotel inspired by the solarpunk movement, where people live in harmony with plants and solar energy. From the very beginning, you can choose freely between any of the nine rooms, as well as the basement and the rooftop, by selecting them from a file cabinet. Each stage presents a cluttered scene in which you must find just under one hundred cats. Some scenes may include drawings of cats, but these do not count, so your focus should remain on the real ones. A few cats cleverly hide with only a head peeking out from behind an object or an outline blending into the surroundings, but most are fully visible and not too difficult to spot. Even doors that can be opened and lead to smaller, separate areas are clearly marked with an “open” sign. The difficulty level is casual. Clicking on the wrong spot has no consequences, and there is no way to fail a stage. A free hint system with a short cooldown is available for any cat that proves better at hiding than you are at finding it. As an added touch, each scene features a board with a short description of the room and an explanation of how it connects to the solarpunk philosophy. There is no time limit in the default mode. However, if you want an extra challenge, three additional modes task you with finding all the cats within three, five, or ten minutes. Completing a stage in each of the four modes rewards you with a sticker. These stickers can be viewed in a scrapbook, but they serve no practical purpose and are not tied to any achievements.
Extremely fun cat finding game. It has a timer option for leaderboards if you feel so inclined, but no timer is necessary to get the Steam Achievements. However, there are in-game stickers that you can earn by challenging yourself with the timed modes. I challenged myself on all difficulties and earned all the stickers today because I found this game to be that fun. One thing I noticed that while each of the cats are there, on some levels some cats may be out of frame and impossible to see when you're zoomed in. Even when you slide all the way to edge of the screen they don't show up. Zooming all the way out can help you spot the ones on the edges. This didn't spoil my fun at all and only happens on a couple levels. Note: Currently, The pictures and video on the Steam page are slightly different than the final product, but not enough to warrant any complaints. More like they put pictures and video of the demo version and forgot to update them. For example, the file cabinet labeled "110" is taped off and inaccessible in-game (the file cabinets are the levels). There are 11 levels (each with multiple levels of difficulty), including the garden and rooftop, but it seems like with this 110 taped off, there MIGHT be an additional unlockable level, but I couldn't unlock it yet.
Thank you so much to Gallic Entertainment for giving me the opportunity to play this game! Hidden cat games are absolutely in my "wheelhouse" and I think this is a great entry into the genre. If you play or are a fan of this genre, you pretty much know what to expect here. There are detailed scenes with little cats scattered throughout that you click to "find". There isn't much of a challenge in finding most of them (until those last handful of kitties it seems!) but - if you're like me - you don't play these kinds of games for challenge anyhow. I play these games as a way to decompress when I've had a stressful day or I'm particularly anxious. Focusing on the simple task of finding the kitties and clicking them while enjoying some cute art is a great way to refocus my mind. This game has the setting of Solar Punk, which I quite enjoyed (lots of plants!). It also has four levels of difficulty, the only difference between any of them is an added timer. There is no timer on the base level "relax" difficulty. There are stickers you unlock with each beat stage (and each new difficulty of that stage provides a new unlocked sticker). You can 100% the achievements of this game just by doing the base difficulty, so if you're an achievement hunter you do not have to do all difficulties to do that. There are also leaderboards if you're into that sort of thing. I did try out the other difficulty levels but to be honest that's not really my thing and especially at the hardest difficulty that was a little too pressured for me given the reasons I play this sort of game, but I am sure there are people out there who will enjoy that addition. In just over an hour I beat all stages on the relax mode, beat about half of them on the next level up and did a couple on the 3rd and 4th difficulty tiers. Do I recommend this game? At such a low price point of only 2.99 at full price, absolutely if you like this genre. It's a great way to get your mind off a stressful day or just kill some time while you talk to a friend or something!
The graphics are colorful and appealing, with adorable animations that bring the cats to life. The controls are easy to understand, which makes the game accessible even for beginners. Players can explore different activities with their cats, collect items, and enjoy a peaceful gaming experience.
