Each level consists of one big image where you need to find 10+ cats in it. The cats themselves are easy to find—all cats are shown in plain sight, and they will be colored after you click on them. The only thing that will give you trouble is your own eyes, especially if you have a hard time discerning an object that is located near many other objects due to the drawing being in black and white. Even so, hints are available if you are stuck. The person who will give these cutscenes will be different in each level. However, these dialogues are mostly one-liners and don't really do anything except on telling you on how to finish the level. [b]Length and Difficulty[/b] I finished the game in 8 minutes. The game isn't difficult since the cats are hidden in plain sight. However, each level has some cat-like objects that are never included as the cats that you need to find. [h1]Conclusion[/h1] [i]Silktrails- Cats in the Grove[/i] might be short, but the gameplay is similar to other hidden object games. It looks rough around the edges, though—it definitely can help with some QoL features, especially regarding multiple ways to move the screen when you zoom in. If you want to play a short hidden object game, this one is free.

"Silktrails: Cats in the grove" is one of literally hundreds of simple, minimalist 2D line art "Find 100 Hidden turnips" or whatever games... hunt through a simple illustration to find 100 hidden things. The first time I saw one of these I thought it was a fairly okay, if short experience... but the problem is, there's literally hundreds of these plaguing the store. They're fairly low effort when you think about what's needed to make a more genuine game. But there's more to this "Find 100" game beyond just being more Russian copy + paste shovelware. This instead emulates that shovelware, but the primary purpose is to advertise a completely different game (Silkgrove) which hasn't been released yet, but it's a very basic Stardew Valley ripoff, you know, "charming farmer fixes problems" kind of guff, but the developer hasn't even published the game this is advertising yet. The whole thing could have been done in a web browser. We have to ask if Steam was intended to compete with Firefox, Chrome or Safari. I didn't spend thousands building a gaming rig so I could play glorified browser games. The other problem is just how many of these there are... they're practically spamming the Steam store at this point. It's close to pollution... mass produced slop that genuine game developers have to try to compete with to get visibility for their more seriously developed games. And that's not good for gamers, or for real developers. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy". Yes, contemporary 3D graphics take a lot of time and effort to create. That doesn't mean it's okay not to bother! Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And that reason is not so they can look at lazy, phoned-in half efforts like this. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. As an advertisement, this is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at [b]only 8 concurrent players[/b]... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? What's the verdict? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.
