Game play is OK. For the amount of time this has been teased its very unfortunate that the content is vastly limited. The asking price is much too high for the Early Access state this game is in. Not sure why this has garnered so many positive reviews (most I see received product for free), as I find it extremely limited, and dull. Hell Divers, Alienation, and many others do twin stick shooters better. Wait for full release before spending the $$$ on this.
A really fun game for local couch co-op multiplayer! I personally used Parsec to play the game with my friends online and we all had a good time! The game has come a long way over the last year or two and I hope that everyone can get the same enjoyment out of this game that I have with my friends!
No save in the survival mode? One can't be expected to play continuously for hours if you never die xD And no way to come back in if the player 2 drops out by mistake... The melee attack doesn't work sometimes. Is the execution class based? weapon based? Weapon comparison could be better with an object dropped on the floor Needs more work on variety of monsters The Graphics settings got auto reset . Heal skill glitched on the engineer one time. Had to buy another skill to swap to fix it.
So far so good looking forward to it's progression. (Gauntlet + Diablo / Quake)
Been playing this game since before EA launch! i've sat down talked with the devs. Through conversation and feedback with not only myself, but also through the community on their discord. They have really taken strides to improve their game. Keep in mind this game is early access in the way its intended! It had a great baseline for a twin stick shooter. Has even more potential to become one of the best out there. Now that i given backstory let me tell you about the game. Lets talk about it. This is a traditional twin stick shooter through and through! gun play feels great on mouse and keyboard. Also supports controller. both methods feel and look great. There is 1 game mode right now called holo chamber. its got 2 maps caldera and jungle. How holo chamber works is you start a floor and you run through the map completing missions and opening chest and looking for better guns. killing enemies for exp to gain SP points to improve your abilities. There are 4 classes to choose from. stryker, juggernaut, engineer and last but not least assassin. each got its own unique abilities to choose from to help you go throughout each map. Now that you did missions on holo chamber and got 100% you get sucked out into the boss arena. When you beat the floor boss you get a nice cache of loot at the end and store to top up ammo, health, maybe even floor skip if you want to get higher waves of difficulty. Holo chamber is infinite scaling and will continue until you run out of time in your day or die! On top of this system there are 5 difficulties! the traditional range of easy normal hard. but then 2 higher difficulty on top of that leading up to its highest difficulty brutal. As of this post i have reach floor 60 on highest difficulty. which i can say was quite the time sink to get there and became really challenging later in the higher floors as one mis-play would lead to your death. This game is about finding the correct weapons with the proper perks on them to help make your time easier. but this game is about player skill. As your reaction, time invested and ability to manage your skill cooldowns and ammo consumption all so you can last long enough to make it to the boss floor and beat him to continue the journey! This is only whats currently in the game 2 holo chamber infinite scaling maps each with their own enemy types and boss! 4 classes with their own unique skills and playstyles. Bunch of guns to play around with and more perks to change up how the guns play. 5 layers of difficulty. This is only Early access. So yes i'd say if you are a twin stick shooter fan give this game a try. Cause with what the game has now is super fun. its only going to get better as they add more to the game!
This is not a game, it's a proof of concept, and it should not be sold for $24.99. If it were free, I still wouldn't recommend it. It's the bare-bones functionality of a twin stick shooter with no systems or mechanics that engage the player. There are a handful of skills that are poorly balanced, upgrading them does nothing but "more of the thing." There are multiple classes of guns, and any singular assault rifle is interchangeable with any other assault rifle. What's the point of having 5 differently named assault rifles if they're all the same? Yes, at some point, they come with "perks" which don't meaningfully affect gameplay in any way. As a matter of fact, there isn't much gameplay. Yes, the twin-stick mechanics feel pretty good. However, there's nothing engaging here. The campaign consists of running from point to point, shooting some monsters. There are no in-depth systems with which to engage. Levelling is meaningless, getting higher statted guns is meaningless, boss battles are meaningless as skills completely destroy them. So, the campaign is just run point to point and shoot some stuff then it ends. The holo-chambers are: run through the exact same level, kill the same enemies, then kill the same boss over and over infinitely until you want to refund the game. I made it through 20 levels of this saying to myself "this can't be all that this game has to offer." Indeed, that is the case. I thought that years of updates and a mostly complete roadmap would make this game worth playing. It's not. This is a proof of concept that some solo dev has worked on for 30 minutes here and there for years but didn't put any thought into actually making game systems that make players want to play. Do not buy this. Do not play this. Do not waste your time. I wish I could get my money back, but I waited too long to actually try it after I bought it for the refund policy to apply. I don't know where the dev gets off thinking this is a $25 game. Consider yourself warned. This is a pet project, not a game.
a scifi arpg that doesnt save progress. WTF? overhyped big time. Imagine diablo with guns, but your character doesnt save after you get off.
The devs have focused gameplay first, and it shows. The game plays smooth and it's a good time that offers hours of content even now at this early stage. Lots of potential here, and I look forward to playing all of the new content when it's added. If you're looking for a twin stick shooter that's already fun, but offers a bunch of potential to come back and play in the future as it develops, check this one out.
[Do note that this is an aging recommendation, as the devs have added a good deal of playable content that I haven't gotten around to trying yet!] This game is very limited in the Stuff & Things department-- There's a very limited set of things to /do/. But it seems evident to me that the reason for that is because they have spent all of the time so far making sure that the shooting and hit detection work like they should. The result is a very smooth and satisfying twin-stick shooting experience... on either one of two tile sets-- jungle or tech-base-in-a-volcano! But again, the core game is very competent. All they have to do at this point is build content around the very strong combat and they will have a real winner. Although even if they abandoned it right now, I'd probably still come back and visit the holo chamber now and then. Edit: There is a recently-posted roadmap including some campaign missions coming this fall, and the current public beta includes a third cave tileset for the holo chamber.
