Sokobond

This game has been in my library for over 10 years, and I never noticed it before (must have been part of a bundle.) I'm glad I finally did though, because it's a fun little puzzle game.

An unusual game, it feels unique. You have to move your given atom around, cleave and strengthen bonds, and bump other atoms to the right spot to join correctly to make a molecule. A background in chemistry does give you a tiny advantage in sussing what molecule to form, but the task of actually doing it (certainly as the levels progress) becomes increasingly challenging (a little too much IMO). The "chemistry facts" about the molecule are also a bit of a stretch lol but forgiveable. I would recommend the game but it's not casual and I personally find it difficult to the point where it's not always very enjoyable. Multistep spatial manipulation - great when you work it out, but tough to get there without more advanced methods/planning.

Sokobond is the coolest sokoban game I have ever played, essentially redefining the genre for me. Most sokoban games involve moving boxes into arbitrary positions for no reason at all, begging the question of "why am I even doing this?" In Sokobond, we're not moving boxes, but rather, assembling chemical compounds. The challenge is therefor not to put boxes into arbitrary places, but to figure out how you'll manage to assemble your compound, pushing other atoms around with the goal of getting them into locations where you can bond with it. The chemistry-theming of the game makes it that much more satisfying, making me feel a sense of accomplishment on completion rather than feeling like all I've done is yet another level.

Good game to learn chemistry~~

Good chemistry based puzzle game, it does get challenging in spots and is a very spatially based game. Prior knowledge of chem will help sometimes, but isn't necessary for understanding how to solve the puzzles, and you get trivia facts along the way, so I imagine this would be a good game for students and children to learn some fun facts. Music is very plain and the graphic style is very minimalist, which helps you focus on the puzzles and is relatively accessible. I wish there was a dark mode to potentially enable.
