==========

It could have been an all right horror exploration game, however the game has too many heavy issues: -having to heat yourself at a fire constantly is so annoying, especially since there aren't a lot of heat sources in the game (if you are frozen a bit you can't even properly read notes) -combine that with the fact that at the start of the game you have so many paths you can take and you have no idea what you are supposed to do, like at one point I was stuck, because I could not find a generator. Well it was behind a house, however if you face the house it does not look like you can get behind it -if you do not collect the pistol at the very start (which happend to me), you can get to the end of the game but then cannot kill the boss and therefore not finish the game, while at the same time you cannot go back to get the pistol at this point -grabing items is very clunky -at one point you are supposed to get over a fence using a big seesaw, however no matter how many times I tried I could not do it. So instead I basically had to abuse a glitch and jump over some rocks at the border of the area to get behind the fence. And yeah I am pretty sure this wasn't wanted from the game especially since you normally can't jump high enough to reach there, because there is a hidden collectible there and well, because the seesaw is in the area.
It's a short experience, and it's kind've a "meh" one for me. The puzzles are pretty easy to decipher, most of which consist of picking up the right thing and taking it to the right place. You use your special finding powers, because I don't feel like scrolling down to see what they were really called. An aspirant, I think that's what you're called. Anyway, you find stuff so you can eventually make it into a facility and do stuff that finishes the experience. It's very light on story, though there are notes and such you can find that give some information about the area you're in. Ultimately it's just kind of ok. But, I often wonder what it's like in the wintery wonderland of Nebraska, so it was worth giving this a try. While I don't walk away feeling like it was a memorable experience, I liked it enough and that's all that matters.
I'd be a bit more kind to this game if it was the developer's first or second game, but it appears to be their fourth. Snowsquall suggests a sort of survival scenario in the cold, but the only time it will be an issue is when you're still learning the game's system and maybe mistake the campfire you find for being enough to heat you up with just one log. It's also just not very scary. There isn't any danger, and the only monster outside will let you stare at it as long as you'd like through the window. The game also boasts about 'straightforward puzzles', and like, sure. They're straightforward in that they aren't really puzzles, except for the one at the end which is a math puzzle that seems like it maybe needed another translation pass to really make sense. The play area is tiny, and you can cross it in about thirty seconds at its longest points, so at least you won't get lost. If we're judging by the release dates, it seems like this game was made in about six months, and I do have to applaud the dev for making a game in such a short time- But you could beat this in twenty minutes. Not to say that short experiences are inherently not worthwhile, but they need substance and this has pretty much none.
SG is an intriguing game with some cool ideas, but it could have been better. You basically start in a snowy area where you need to get to the research facility for your mission. You’re left on your own to figure things out. The gameplay is in first person perspective, you interact with objects, try to unlock doors, read some notes and solve some minor puzzles. The game has an atmospheric visual style, the puzzles are okay, the notes were fine and the achievements are mostly unmissable aside from 3. They were fun to get. There are a few flaws, my main one is how the object you’re carrying can get stuck on other objects/environments. The controls are also not ideal with the mouse and keyboard set-up. You can’t use your mouse in the menus, you have to use your keyboard for that. The game also starts a bit rough where I wasn’t sure what to do. The game has a radar that shows you where to get certain items for certain puzzles but it only works when you interact with the puzzles. I’ve seen a gameplay video where the radar can be activated at any time but I couldn’t figure out how. The game’s controls don’t mention this in the menu. I’m normally happy when games aren’t long. They don’t overstay their welcome and it’s motivating to complete them when they’re short. However, I’m not sure about this one. It feels like not much happened and the game was over quickly. It took me less than 2 hours to get all the achievements according to steam, this includes completing the game twice, getting stuck often and trying to find all the 5 collectibles. You can complete the game in minutes after completing the game once because then you’ll know what to do. It was an interesting experience playing this game, it made me curious about the dev’s other games and there are some things I like about it. But would I have been fine not playing it at all? Probably. It feels like it needed something more to make it stand on its own and make me think it’s really worth playing. The good news is, the game doesn’t cost a lot. The normal price is €3 and I got it cheaper through a bundle. It’s really not a bad game but it’s not great either. I can only recommend it if you’re curious or you’re a fan of the developer and you want to experience all the games he/she made.
I can't recommend this game. It's a cool idea, but the execution is lacking. I like the atmosphere and story, but some of the puzzles are unintuitive, and the ending is overly difficult probably to overcompensate for how empty it is. There is something here, but unfortunately it wasn't fully realized. It seems like it would fit well in a Dread X Collection, but not a standalone game. At least the price is low, so I guess grab it if you're still interested. 5/10
Really cool short game , once you figure out the main mechanics you'll get around the hell pit
Teaboy's Basic(ish) Reviews....I read a lot of reviews when looking at games on Steam, and it quickly gets tiring – those who write involved, down to the micron scale reviews, although helpful, end up like looking at War & Peace when you’ve only got time for a quick 5 minute dump! This is middle of the road and to the point – not easy for me as I tend towards sesquipedalian loquaciousness! Vociferously Verbose? Alright, verbal diarrhoea. (Although I hate panning a developer’s work and all the time, effort and love they put into designing these – it is their life after all – this is my honest, personal opinion of my level of enjoyment. Sorry devs!). A note on time played: My Steam clock does not seem to work properly, indeed, it even minuses time on occasion! Plus, I have a tendency to wander off and leave games running at times, so time played may not be entirely accurate! Teaboy’s Tonsil Titillators or Toenail Titbits! (Rating) Tonsil Tickler (Totally Tops): The frenchy of which you always dreamt! To quote a master, “She’s got a tongue like an electric eel and she likes the taste of a Man’s tonsils!”. An absolute masterpiece and joy to play. The Tits (Terrific): Everyone loves playing with these! Not THE best bit, but such fun on their own you can be lost for hours....mmmm. What most games you really like score – perfection is so rare after all. Torso Teaser (Taker of your Time): It’s a flat stomach....sure it’s nice to look at, run your fingers over, slobber on a bit, sometimes that bellybutton gets your motor running....but it's just basically the corridor between the two ‘gaming rooms’. The definitive ‘Meh’ - the middle ‘sideways thumb’ option for which everyone on Steam cries. Todger/Tadger & (scroTum) Taters (Tedious): Is it an ‘a’ or is it an ‘o’? Who cares! The meat can be fun to play with for about 5 minutes of your entire day, the rest it just hangs there and generally gets in the way of doing something else. The main problem of course, is the two veg sticking to your inside thigh. This is what this game feels like – the occasional/rare bouts of fun, the rest bobbing like a 19th century British Policeman (now you know why!). Toenail Tornado (Total Toss): A playthrough so appalling it’s like being trapped in a Turkish sauna with the ugliest, hairiest, fattest, sweatiest beast of a neolithic hominid who’s trimming his toenails using pliers and the splinters are reminiscent of a scene from the Normandy Landings. My god how did this get released!? Teaboy Touts (Score): A Firm Torso Teaser The Review: Not much to say. It's a VERY short game (had to watch the guide at one point - a bloke did it in 20 minutes and he was not even speed-running it), the only reason it took me so long was that there is no explanation as to what to do or what is going on, so you have to piece it together as you go, but also because there is a part where you can soft-lock your game - queue shaking of head whilst looking at the ground in disgusted, disappointed despair. As a hint, I will advise you NOT to DROP the crosses in the fire - treat them like marshmallows at a campfire and don't forget to check them over! Graphics are awful but fitting and didn't bother me at all, movement is fine although jumping is a bit awkward, sadly hit-boxes for clicking/grabbing/etc are likewise awkward....and there's a gun....which you will not use until the very end. smhiddd. I tried using it to shoot a window - you get 2 bullets lol. You can also only traverse laterally (x-axis/sideways) so combat is Obviously not a strong suit of the game. And that's your lot. Cheap as chips, short and sweet (I suppose if you played it through a second time you could do it sub 20 minutes....but why would you?) and regularly goes on sale to boot. So, if you think you can afford less than 2 denomination units of your particular currency and fancy an hour time-waster, then this is your bag, baby ^^
This is one of those short, good looking games, that you would describe as hidden gem. It is horror with interesting puzzles and one hell of an atmosphere. Definitly try it if you enjoy horror games with retro style
