Very nice for its time, though it has some bits that put it away from being better. Namely that: 1) Running has too much weight, so switching directions feels too slow; 2) Hostile machine gunners tend to be too accurate, easily taking you out from 50 m withou needing support to use a bipod (while you will always hipfire with it); 3) (Playing on the hardest AI) When in active combat, the enemies seem to be too aware of your position even after breaking line of sight. You can be out of sight after turning a corner and move 30 m away from it, and they will shoot at you right away after getting to said corner (as if they always knew where you were, even though you could have turned to a dozen of different spots while out of their vision). With that said, still really enjoyed the game and would play again.
If u like the atmosphere of games from the 00s, you should definitely try this gem out!! Though some dumbasses complain that the movement feels like walking on ice, you can easily avoid that issue by capping your FPS at 60 via RTSS. Also, dont forget the fact that a lot of games from that era break almost completely on 60+ fps as well. However, the real issue is that the AI difficulty reverts to the easiest setting upon loading a save. It also turns on instant scope if you had it off. To avoid this, u should start a new mission at your desired difficulty level, and then load your desired save from that screen. Other than that, it was an amazing experience with a great atmosphere, which later entries in the series never quite replicated
Not worth buying. I loved this game when it came out, still do, but this version is bad. Even the community layouts for controller use(which shouldn't be necessary as this game was playable on console so controllers should work no problem) don't fully function, have to use keyboard AND controller.
The game is old, clanky and just not fun. I recommend playing the next title and skip this one
Brings me back to the childhood, one of the first games I ever played on a pc. Absolutely great game!
A fun classic that still holds up if you like tactical sniping. The gameplay feels dated, but landing long-range shots is still satisfying. 7/10.
