Snapshot is the tale of a lone robot lost in an abandoned world. Armed with only his trusty camera, Pic sets forth on his great adventure. A camera might not seem like enough for a puzzle platforming adventure, but this camera is different from most: It has the ability to capture and remove from the world the very objects that it...

There's lotsa generic puzzle-platformer indie trash, but this one probably isn't. Played it years ago, and it held my attention for 13 hours, playing it through to completion whilst also going for a boatload of optional objectives. So if a puzzle-platformer can do that, then it must be an alright game. It's not worth the full price though. Get it in a bundle, or for like a $1 or something.
Mechanically unique with its endlessly amusing design, Snapshot is a fascinating puzzle-platformer of its time. The central ability to navigating these tricky levels is being able to instantaneously store / place items with a magical camera, whether it's moving a crate for the player to jump on, triggering locked areas and so on. It's no one trick pony though, the level design and complexities nicely amp up throughout the levels, introducing items and challenges with new physics and properties. With that all said, there's a lean towards precision platforming that can lead to the occasional frustration, especially when dealing with physics for the completionists looking to collect each star, find the gallery item, and complete the par time for each level.
Very cool little puzzle-platformer. The core conceit is taking "screenshots" of objects/parts of the environment and "pasting" them in a different location to help you platform through the level/solve the level's puzzles. The core conceit is simple, but throughout the game new objects are continuously introduced to keep things fresh. Like, it surprised me just how many ideas this game has, and just how cool it is. Beating the game is relatively straightforward enough, but trying to get all collectables is an entirely different thing and should definitely keep one busy for a while. Just a really cool experience all around; definitely would recommend this to anyone who likes/has any interest in puzzle-platformers. Personally, I understand reviews that call this game is repetitive, but I can't agree with them. Like yeah, it's repetitive, in the sense that say all platformers are repetitive because the core objective of each level to is to from the left side of the screen to the right side, accomplished by jumping. In that sense, yeah, Snapshot is repetitive because you are always making use of the core "snapshot" feature to solve levels, but that's really underselling it in the same way that describing a game like Super Meat Boy as just a run-an-jump would. It does keep the core gameplay, but each new level has something new to offer and keeps it feeling fresh, at least that's how I feel. Now, less this be misconstrued, I don't necessarily think this on the level of Super Meat Boy, definitely not in terms of the fluidity of the platforming or anything like that. But I really did enjoy just how may cool ideas this game came up with and really enjoyed the experience and was constantly surprised by it, so I'd definitely say there's more than enough here to be worth checking out, IMO.
