This game is super fun once you figure out the mechanics of the game. I wish there was more of a tutorial on how to play the game, but I finally figured out what to do 10 minutes into the game. It has a great concept for a 2D realm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-iESDrHwhw
Pretty simple but attractive game. Click and drag that is all that you can do here nonetheless it is not boring at all. Waiting for this game to get out of early access to play more.
Feels a bit unfinished, but fair enough for Early Access. 4/5 from me. Waiting for updates!
Summary
Simplistic idler strategy builder with barebones tower defense that is decently fun but frustrating initially to figure out its gameplay. Pros + Simple fun Cons - No tutorial
Overview
Smile To Fly is a simplistic mishmash of strategy builder more akin to idlers with a barebones tower defense thrown in that is frustrating in the beginning as there is barely a tutorial. If you can get through figuring out the gameplay it is a rather decent and simple idler to spend some time on. Gameplay boils down to producing resources, building and upgrading things, and defending your colony from waves of enemies. It is quite simple as you mostly only need to click and drag things around while waiting for your resources to collect to progress further. The start of the game is pretty much the most frustrating part as there is no proper tutorial other than short descriptions here and there that barely explains things either. Pacing is rather slow as resources take quite some time to produce and you also need to manually collect them in the proper boxes, the boxes must also be moved manually into different slots around the colony to build or upgrade things. Achievements aren't complicated to obtain as you will eventually get them all by just playing the game. Once I figured out what I needed to do, I had a pretty good time! Simple, but pretty cute game.
休闲的经营游戏,玩起来很轻松,但是很多还是看不懂。Chinese, please!!
Recommendation: It's a good idle game blended with a simple lane defense game; it's fun to play once you figure out what is happening. Review: Smile to Fly has a fun conceit: there's this spacefaring race that powers interstellar travel with the happiness of its citizens. You control a floating robot who can operate all the supervisory controls in the colony. Your goal is to survive long enough that you can entertain your citizens to the point that you can explore all the neighboring planets. It's a bit like Iain Banks' Culture society: the society exists for the hedonistic pleasure of its members. Unlike in the Culture, though, these citizens do have to work some of the time. In a mechanism similar to "Human Powered Spacecraft," the first thing you do is pick up your two citizens and slap them into a work station, either generating coins/money or running on a treadmill to generate electricity. The money and power accumulate, but you can't do anything with them until you take the storage container for each and move the generated amounts into storage. You then remove the storage units and plug them in to something else to construct or upgrade some colony feature. Once you build recreational structures (a casino, a restaurant, a club, etc) you then have to keep the lights on with electricity long enough for your people to take a break and enjoy themselves (thus generating "Smile") for a while. You then use Smile to upgrade your spaceship or to launch it to another world.
A wonderful game that put a smile in my heart. Smile on!
