Reviews
Very, very buggy. Windowed mode and camera issues aside the first crash happened within 15-20 mins.
Very decent indie souls-like Animations and enemies are cool, camera is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ - everything you need for a good soulslike What this game doesn't tell you - this is metroidvania and at the moment of writing this review I'm utterly lost. Platformer part of this game is unnecessarily hard in some places especially considering fixed camera angle. Killer feature of this game is ability to combine spells. So you have like 20 spells but for each you can assign secondary spell which bumps number of unique combination to over 400. And then you can add element to your spell which further increase amount of combinations and this part makes this game worth playing just for the sake of experimenting with spells. I will continue playing this game tho I doubt I will meet anything worth changing review for. 6/10 due to camera and clipping through textures

The game starts off well enough, but it doesn't take long for things to start turning bad. Combat is a slog, platforming is awkward, terrain jank in many places, several of the puzzle dungeons are incredibly poorly implemented. Ultimately, it's just not fun. I tried to go for 100% despite this since you can adjust several difficulty factors, but that doesn't help with some of the worst problems. Cute it is, fun it is not.
Here's a Totally Objective Review of Slime Heroes - https://youtu.be/-UdudO3heEw Rating: 10/10
good graphics, great art style, good mechanics, and good gameplay overall great
Slime Heroes oozes charm and adventure. There is a great combination of cute slimes and interesting creatures. It plays really nicely, your little slime is responsive and tough. I especially like how free you are to build out your powers by combining them in different ways and applying different elements. It feels like there is a depth there that I have barely even begun to explore. On top of all that there is even co-op, which feels great, especially when you can combine your powers to take on one of the tough dungeon fights, or battle a big boss. I'm excited to jump in and play more.
The real stand-out feature for me is the skill alchemy. It's been a fun adventure game on it's own but periodically defeated enemies "drop" their skill, which can be used as a primary or a modifier. I'm far from collecting every one but they've done a great job making all the combination unique; it reminds me of Transistor in this aspect. There's an additional "element" you can add, like fire damage or life steal; it's been a lot of fun digging experimenting with different combos. I'm impressed by the pacing as well, when a skill or weapon is found there's enough time to get the hang of it but not get bored with the next challenge just around the corner.
Some games grab you, other games don't....and then there are some that just feel meh? On paper (and gameplay footage) this looked like a lot of fun. Execution just...fell flat. I don't even really know what or why, it just felt "Meh" to me. I didn't even play it for a half hour. Multiplayer was also disappointing - I was expecting to start over with my girlfriend before I got "too far" into the game, and it just picked up where I left off instead. No option to start over. That was disappointing and she quickly grew disinterested because she had no idea what was going on. This is not a "jump in at any time" kind of game. Seems there are some good ideas here, but the execution is just....meh.
A fun take on soulslikes with excellent visuals, voice acting, and quick, breezy combat, definitely playing more!
My boyfriend gifted me Slime Heroes, and I've mostly played it with him. We've been trying hard to beat it. On a challenge level - I'd say it's the right amount of challenging. On a cuteness level - very, very cute. On a fun level - definitely enjoyed myself. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would gladly give the game a solid 7. I highly recommend it.
