My review was originally going to say something along the lines if you can handle a little bit of jank that you will enjoy this game, and that is true.... for the first 2 worlds...... but the third world has been one of the most frustrating platforming experiences I have ever played. Each of the 4 characters has a unique ability, but none of them feel like they are working as intended Carl can push and pull boxes.... when the controller decides it registers your button presses, sometimes he will warp around the box in an area where pushing it is impossible, sometimes he will run in place very fast towards the box and nothing else will happen and will not be able to get out of this animation until the game decides it wants to work correctly again. Paperman can throw letters and teleport to them.... except the letters you throw fade away really fast, which would be well and good if you could acutally tell where the letter was , there is a lock mechanic but it only works on enemies and red targets that you need to be extremely close to meaning you don't have acces to it half the time. Scrolly allegedly can float and glide in the air currents that are around most levels... except you pressing the ability button has little to no bearing as to weather or not she will actually float. More often than not she will just drop. Express can run faster than an the other characters with a toggle of the ability button... which would be great... if it actually worked properly, half the time his feet will get caught on the platform he's already standing on and he won't actually run anywhere, which is manageable when you're running in a straight line, but then you throw in the sloped platforms and you might as well just use Paperman's double jump instead. The camera will also lock in specific positions and actively fight you if you try to adjust it, which is an interesting decision for a 3D platformer to say the least..... I played most of it in co-op and my girlfriend and I had many instances where we would re-spawn with the screen too dark to see, or not re-spawn at all, or re-spawn to a checkpoint that was before the boss area we were currently fighting. I was willing to put up with most of those problems for the 1st 2 worlds because we were still having fun, but the 3rd world broke me, it has so many branching paths most of which require pixel perfect platforming, which would be fine, if the game didn't have all the aforementioned issues. The first 2 levels are enjoyable enough but the 3rd one is a crime against 3D platformers.
Takes you back to the feeling of classic collectathons. Multiple characters keeps things fresh. Recommended!
Really fun little platformer with four different main character. Everyone has different abilities which turns it into a puzzle platformer as well (think Trine or Lost Vikings). Graphics are cute and the sound/music are well done. It starts simple so you can learn the movement and usage of abilities but the puzzles and challenges get trickier over time, good progression here. It is fun to explore the levels and to search for ways to get every last letter. So far I have only played the first world but I am looking forward to explore the others as well. Also looking forward to play it in co-op, it promises to be entertaining with friends.
I dont like the camera and it pissed me off a little to get to change character every 2 min, but i like this game. This is cute and funny.
what can i say about this game, the combat feels really off i can kill the enemies 3 feet from the enemy just by punching the puzzles takes different characters to do, but feels way way to tedius to switch because u can only switch via mailbox thats few an far between and finding where to go is a chore in itself i love a platformer as much as the next guy and i love exploring in games like this, but it just feels tedius to do. the story for this game is good well written well voice acted but the rest of the game falls short if this gets fixed an addressed ill return an update this review cause this game does have potential
Very interesting game, with a unique game play style. I really liked the concept of the game, and even tho it recommended me to use a controller, i still used mouse and keyboard and it was very simple to do. I just adjusted the sensitivity, toggled off inverted settings, and with WASD or arrow keys and mouse wheel you can navigate the settings. All the rest was smooth with WASD and mouse movement. If your into these kind of games or interested, def give it a try, as it was a lot of fun and very creative in the game play :)
