About
Trail & Error is a chaotic co-op survival game for 1–8 players where poor decisions, bad luck, and questionable teamwork are just as dangerous as the trail itself.
Travel together across an unknown frontier, manage limited supplies, survive unpredictable disasters, and try not to abandon your friends when things go wrong. The goal is simple: reach the end of the trail alive.
Every run is a shared journey filled with dynamic events, environmental hazards, and tough choices. Food runs out. Illness spreads. Weather turns hostile. Your wagon breaks at the worst possible time.
When disaster strikes, you’ll have to adapt on the fly or deal with the consequences.
Movement and interaction are driven by physics, turning everyday tasks into unpredictable problems:
Haul supplies and manage a physics-driven wagon
Navigate rough terrain and environmental hazards
Watch plans fall apart in the funniest ways possible
The physics won’t always kill you, but it will make things complicated.
With proximity voice chat, coordination matters especially when things start going wrong. Expect frantic callouts, bad ideas, and arguments that feel all too familiar.
1–8 player online co-op
Physics-based wagon and character movement
Randomized events and dynamic weather
4 Different map biomes
Survival based mechanics
Resource management: food, health, and illness
Proximity voice chat for immersive (and chaotic) communication
Trail & Error is about teamwork, survival, and the comedy that comes from everything going wrong at exactly the wrong time.

You may have seen a clip or two of a popular streamer playing this game and thought to yourself that this would be an enjoyable experience for you and your friends. Do not be mistaken, this game is a waste of time. The hunger and sickness mechanics are just timers, nothing more. Click on the drumstick or health bottle to fix it. The action of moving the ox-carts over the play-doh inspired terrain is horrendously boring. If you're hungry and want to hunt an animal for food, you don't get to aim the gun. Hell, you don't even get to cook the food when you get it, just stand by the fire. The routes between safe zones are painfully quiet and void of all possible sources of entertainment, fun, and enjoyment that you may have expected upon your purchase of this shell of an idea. You drive your ox-cart forward with all the might of your middle finger on the 'W' key, desperately waiting for something entertaining to appear over the horizon. Just when your eyes glaze over in pure boredom, you see something move in the bushes, and for a moment you think something might actually HAPPEN right now, you may even have a DECISION to make! Oh no, it's just a snake, it moves to bite you with the tracking of a pac-man ghost. It bit you. Click the bandage to fix it. Good job. Back to the 'W' key now. This game puts the slop in friend-slop, and I fear the developer put more money into paying streamers to play the game than creating any resemblance of an entertaining experience.
My wonderful wife of thirty years and my degenerate son (In Game) Died after I expired to three different forms of dysentery and died at the reins, letting the wagon tumble off a cliff and explode into a ball of fire from all the loose lanterns and gunpowder we were carrying. 10/10, would catch dysentery again.
This game has a lot of potential and once it is fully released I am sure it will be playable. As for now, it is incredibly buggy. The most frustrating part is trying to place items in the storage. Half of the time items just end up thrown on the ground under the wagon and you have to move the wagon to pick them up. Once you are in the desert, it is almost impossible to see during a sand storm and I continued to get sand storms that would not stop so I couldn't see the trail for the entirety of the desert. Driving through the water is practically impossible. Every time I would almost make it across, the game would glitch and the wagon would be flipped. The oxen would glitch and randomly get stuck too. On the topic of the oxen, we need a health bar for the bison so we can track how they are doing. I had one die on me without warning. I have pretty decent specs on my computer and it felt glitchy. I played on my own so I cannot review the multi-player aspect of the game. But I imagine it would be more fun if there were added aspects for the players who are not driving the cart. I genuinely think this game will be really fun once the bugs are worked out. I post this review to help the developers understand my experiences so they can fix those bugs for the full release. I believe once these bugs are fixed I would highly recommend this game. But as for now, it is pretty hard to play.
this game seemed so amazing and it was fun for the first 30 mins hopfully it will be better upon full relese it might be worth it on sale but NOTfor full price but worst of all this game gave me a southern accent and its become a problom
In concept the game is really fun and when it works its enjoyable. Unfortunately the game is riddled with physics bugs and system issues as of right now. Things like wagons clipping into the ground and becoming stuck, getting out of the cart launching it into space, trying to get the cart into the water and it just does a nose dive instantly and explodes, and just clipping issues all over. Theres issues with some cosmetics just displaying all of the available colors on a grid as if you were supposed to select one. Checkpoints don't really seem to work at all and when one player dies it resets everyone to the starting location instead of becoming a ghost at random. Once these are fixed I would definitely recommend it but right now its just kind of frustrating to try and play. Had multiple friends lose all of their cosmetics as well.
The oxen need a health bar or something. Crossing the river doesnt work at all, and the checkpoints need to actually ****** work! Got to the final river crossing, My wagon just flipped the second i entered the water and i was stuck in the middle and couldnt do anything. Dont release your ***** game if you havent ****** tested it!
PLEASE READ: I have never had SO MUCH FUN in a co-op game!!! This game is absolutely hilarious and a fun throw back for all the 90's babies who remember playing this on the brick computer in the school library! A game similar to fan favorites like REPO, Headliners, Peak and RV there yet, if that is your jam, you NEED to play this game with your friends, TODAY! The ragdoll cosmetics, the PVE against bears and snakes and oh, did I mention the FULL BIRTHDAY SUIT option?? Our whole gang runs no clothes and it is hilarious. Shake your lil buns in the suns and try to survive the entire gauntlet. It really truly is Trial and Error and you will love this game! Can't wait to see what updates come to the game.
Fun game that brings back Oregon Trail vibes. Blast to play with friends.
Whomp whomp. All of my items disappeared. My wagon flies into the air for no reason even when I am not moving. Really wanted this to be an awesome game.
In its current state, this game isn't really worth it right now. It feels like it needs a lot work still. -You should be able to aim the gun. As it is, it's not really useful for more than one person to have it, and you need to be away from anyone else in case it decides to shoot them. -Clothes get destroyed way too often and easily, even from a fall. Losing clothes to fall damage is more annoying than anything. -Wagon handling is a bit too finicky still and feels more like it's meant to be bad because it's funny when it slides around. -The pathing can be a bit unclear at times (especially in the mountain). It might be a nice addition to add horses and let people scout ahead instead. -The voicechat is needs a bit more tuning, can barely hear anyone who is sitting next to me. Changed some settings and it still was pretty quiet. -Cooking by standing near the fire doesn't work if you're in a snowstorm and need to stand near the fire. You end up burning the meat, which sucks.
