Loving it! Fun and easy game that you can immediately jump into and feel good with the satifsying mechanics. It's loaded with puns and tongue-in-cheek jokes, and I appreacite the light-heartedness. Also want to commend the team on the art and music - nice. After playing the demo for a while, I'm still interested and engaged and think the modifiers make for good replayability. Overall I recommend this and for $5 think it's a great little game.
For $5 this is a sick game. I like the limitations of the episodes and figuring out how to win with them. I also enjoy using just the mouse for everything. It feels simple, but nuanced. I saw reviews about how important power cubes are and while I agree with that statement, I think it just shows that there could be some balance changes to the proverbial STR build of straight-up bodying the opponent slayblade. Maybe I haven't found the modifiers for that kind of build yet, so I'll keep playing, but I desire the anime-inspired impact frames of absolutely smoking the opponent. Also I love the overworld style of picking your battles, but give me a full double elimination, 16/32 seed bracket and a time limit on the pacing of matches to really get the tension up. Give me a day to deal with each match, but a day only. If I lose, I gotta fight my way out of the elimination bracket or my soul gets banished to the shadow realm. Hell, let me customize the bracket and play with my friends to see who's the better slayblader. Also the style of the game is insanely cool. I could easily see this working for a tokyo drift kind of game as well with the mouse drag physics. I recommend this if you like spending more than a few bucks at your local arcade and would normally have nothing to show for it.

Wasted potential, way too short
This game is cute, quirky, and fun... for an hour or two (3-5 runs max). Lots of tropes and pop culture references. This is my experience both from both idly playing for fun and working my way through (so far most of) the Challenge Runs or "Episodes": Positives: - Art style and music never get old (some sound effects could be lowered a bit though) - Blade control itself is smooth (at high levels when your stats are crazy) - Run Modifiers are unique enough to be challenging and fresh without unfairly punishing (DOG -.-) Negatives: - As others have said, battling boils down to Power Up box collection. Unless you push them out of the arena within the first 4ish seconds before it spawns, the fight is basically up to who's build benefits more from the PowerUp. - Keeping that in mind, I'm not sure how much if any balancing was put into the Parts themselves. My "meta" quickly became Catholic Head+Body because they did "Reduce enemy speed by 2x your level" which by level 10 or even 5 was just a 1-Powerup-Oneshot - Auras are nowhere near cohesive enough. Any parts that use "X effect from Y Active Auras" is so niche considering Auras have time limits, unless you want to sacrifice another part slot to get their time doubled on box pickup. - THE AI CONTROL IS SO BAD IT CAUSED ME TO WRITE THIS REVIEW. I'm so serious, after one challenge flopped a few runs I chalked it up to bad luck and did some others. This time, after FOUR BATTLES of both blades just circling around the outer ring, NOT EVEN FIGHTING, I had it. Not only does Your AI seem almost afraid of the Power-Up Box (refer to how stupidly important that is in previous points) it can't even mow the grass decently!! Running into your own bomb? Sure, I get it, its a dome arena with an enemy clashing into you. Running into it FIVE TIMES? It doesn't even matter what the enemy is using, my bot gives up by itself.
I wish I could recommend this game but I just cant, In the future if more content is added I would love to give the game another shot. Currently I have 3 points on the game I would like to say. Lack of parts- In the description of the game It is said that there are 60 blade parts which should mean only 20 parts for each part of your blade which just feels really small when you think about building a blade. speak of building your blade. Building your blade- I think the design of the powercube is pretty cool but when thats the only way you can build your blade it just feels samey and such. I would love if you could build your blade in other ways like activating things on hit without the cube or something like that. I dont know exactly what they should add but I just feel everything relying on powercube just isnt enough. Length of a run- I beat a run in like 20 minutes all it is, is that you wait a few days for the tourney to open and then fight 3 battles and then beat the game. I just feel that this is just way too short for my liking. I like the addition of modifiers and set episodes, but I just feel like there needs to be more base game than just adding modifiers.
it's a pretty baller game but it needs more content like i beat this ♥♥♥♥ in an hour and i have no incentive to jump back in. positive review regardless it's a really cool concept and i love the inspirations around this game, it just needs.. more bro
Non-existent gameplay, awful music and a UI that only barely manages to function.
I really enjoyed the demo of this game and I think it has potential. Trouble is the demo is pretty much the entire game. If you buy the full version you get: - significantly more refined gameplay - a tiny lore drop and a silly cutscene for finishing the finals - a couple more fights in the finals which you couldnt do in the demo - a couple extra parts In its current state I cant recommend it for the price tag. I will say that the full release has the difficulty feel much more balanced as the demo was far too easy and had very obvious broken combos to win everything, however I feel like there needs to be more story to experience and gameplay past beating the big tourney in your town. Why is this one tourney the only one that matters? Whats going on outside your town? Would love to learn more about that perpetual motion slayblade generator the game builds up in it's opening. Overall this game has a great concept as a Custom Robo feeling simple combat game and the different arenas you can fight in do add a lot of interest and replayability. It is unfortunately just a shame that the experience is so short.
