Ski Jumping Pro VR

Game does not support the Valve Index, for no reason whatsoever. You can start the game on it, but you have zero controls, as the game does not recognize inputs from the Index controllers. Devs promised working on it ages ago, but never delivered. Basically abandoned.

I must admit, the Australian winter, with days from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius, is what I consider to be the ultimate winter. But still, to this day, I love watching the Northern Atmosphere Winter sports. Especially the ones that involve speed and craziness such as the downhill, the bobsleigh, the luge and of course the ski jump. (I never really understood why people would launch themselves from the top of a ramp with skis on their feet, and a few seconds later be flying like a bird in the air; it’s brilliant to watch, but why?) Well, I just found out with Ski Jumping Pro VR. Ski Jumping Pro VR is a virtual sports simulation game developed by Yippee Entertainment and published by Kalypso Media Digital on the 19th of December 2019 on Steam. The game has 62 competitions, including a Continental Cup and the World Championship, across 19 destinations around the world. In a nutshell, in each these events, 50 fearless competitors/ski jumpers will have two jumps to execute. On the first round, all of the ski jumpers will go down the ramp, but only the best 30 will jump a second time to compete for the highest spots on the podium. So, here you can either play a career mode or practise first before making a flying goose of yourself (thankfully, I was the only one in the room at the time). Each jump will be judged on: 1. How you launch yourself from the top of the ramp, 2. How straight you're going down the ramp, 3. The jump, 4. The flight, and of course, 5. The landing. What I found amazing in this game is the feel of speed when you go down these ramps, especially the longest one; I even squatted a few times hoping that my speed would improve before jumping off the ramp. As you are about to jump, you’ll see decreasing numbers which will let you know how far you are from the actual jump. Then the inflight, its great fun as you have to move your controllers every so slightly in order to control the stability of your flight and hopefully make a good landing. If you do all these things right, you might get to the top of the podium a few times. I liked to see the replay of my superb jump (or my super crash). As you start winning events, you’ll pocket some money as well as some stars, which you can use to buy new equipment for your ski jumper; for example, an expensive helmet will give you more focus while speeding down the ramp, and better skis will help on your take-off and landing. The graphics are pretty good and I really enjoyed the experience of ski-jumping; as we are now entering winter in Australia, I might ski jump regularly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLZI8OMe9ZY Is a decent vr skiing game, where the game is jumping off a ramp to earn scores. There are multiple modes like a career mode and free play mode, also with a bunch of different settings for the jump. Gameplay is a bit interesting, with how as you are sliding down and preparing to jump, you are required to balance yourself with having your controllers steady and adjusting your body in the middle from left and right. Though after playing a while, it can perhaps get a bit repetitive as you are kinda just doing the same thing. Also it is a bit to do the timing of things, as i did do fine in the tutorial but in the real thing, i did the same but had some struggle. Reckon its best to grab in a sale if interested, where the price is not too bad.

Wer schon immer wissen wollte, wie sich ein Skisprung anfühlt und sich am liebsten auch mal auf die oberste Spitze einer Skisprungschanze der fliegenden Engel gewagt hätte, darf gerne auf das Spiel zugreifen. Vom Training, zur Saison Meisterschaft bis zur Weltmeisterschaft unter eigener Flagge, wird in diesem Spiel genau das geboten, was der Trailer verspricht. Dazu kommt das Aufskillen durch neue Ausrüstung um auch beim Absprung oder bei der Landung bessere Ergebnisse zu erzielen. Die Grafik ist ganz gut gehalten, verspricht aber auch nicht spektakulärste Effekte. Dafür sind jene Originalschauplätze wie zBsp. Grindelwald in der Schweiz vorhanden, um die Authentizität zu bewahren. Das Spiel unterstützt sowohl Oculus Rift sowie die Vive oder die Valve Index. Lediglich die Index Controller werden nicht erkannt, so dass auf die ursprünglichen Vive Wands ausgewichen werden muss.

Sterowanie skoczkiem podczas lotu nieintuicyjne, bardzo!

Would like to see support carry onto newer VR headsets such as the index. Disappointing this is not supported as it looks good!

I have tried the game on Oculus Rift S and it works perfectly, despite the headset not being listed as a compatible device. At first I found the controls a little bit confusing, but they are pretty easy to learn and I was able to get the hang of them after a dozen minutes. The tutorial could be a bit more comprehensive though. For example it doesn't tell the player that he's supposed to look at the wind meter to time his push perfectly. Despite minor mishaps the gameplay is fun, but it gets repetitive after a while. Graphics are okay, they may not be the most realistic, but they get the job done. Right now I can't say if the amount of content justifies the price tag, but as a product it is refined and very enjoyable.

Great concept with cool, realistic feeling levels but very poor execution. I hate giving bad reviews but the UX design of this game is atrocious. For example, they could have had you duck forward like they do in real life while going down the slope but instead the game has you wave your hands around in a way you're not even sure it wants you to, in a way completely unrelated to ski jumping at all. And the tutorial makes no sense at all, makes the game basically unplayable. Had I not got this on sale and left it sit there for a few months I'd have requested a refund.

Игра спортивная. То есть развлекаешь себя сам, сосредоточенно упражняясь на ставших знакомыми трассах. Все условия для этого созданы - много трасс, виды с разных камер, спокойная серьезная музыка, прокачки, оборудование, рейтинги и прочая спортивная суета. Из подобных люблю Rush, и он, будучи мултиплеером, играется повеселее. И елки с пальмами там совсем рядом свистят. Здесь же плюс за взрослую бодрящую атмосферу чемпионата, но минус за некоторую отстраненность. Работает все хорошо. Аналогов нет. Буду играть.
