Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/2f3xt9zLcHE This is an arcade skiing game. As long as you're not looking for a realistic skiing experience, then I think you would enjoy this game. It's more polished than most skiing games on Steam VR, but it's also rather simplistic. There are two mechanics in this game: steering (which you do by tilting your head left or right) and speed (which you do by swinging your motion controllers / ski poles). There are also three game modes: racing (against AI or other players), coin collection, & time trials. You can play this game single player or online PVP multiplayer. There are a total of 4 maps, day or night. Most of the races are about 3 minutes long. I did not get a chance to test out multiplayer, so I cannot say if it works properly or not. However, skiing in single-player is fun. I did enjoy the visuals even though they are not realistic looking. It's a nice art-style however and the game runs smoothly. You'll see stuff like reindeer running in front of you (that you avoid), a crowd cheering you on, and snow falling on the ground. I did not like the music though. Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps for the most part, with only a few frame rate drops. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs (although you have to click on exit level instead of continue after finishing a race which can be confusing). I don't think this is a great skiing experience, but it's a nice, casual arcade skiing experience that is still better than the vast majority of skiing games on Steam (it might even be the best arcade skiing on Steam unfortunately). My main criticism of this game is that it needed a bit more depth & more content to justify the price. There could have been thrilling ramps to jump off to make it a more fun arcade experience. There could have been powerups or more depth to the skiing (such as having to crouch to gain momentum or to make tight turns). The controls are very wonky. I love to ski in real life. Probably one of my favorite physical activities. But this game just isn’t really quite enough. It would be cool if they added support for full body trackers on your ankles. Pushing with my ski poles down the mountain is both tiring and not realistic. Fancy skiing 2 is actually a bit better on many fronts.
A soft and pleasant simulator. Very similar to real skiing. I would like to add the Freeride mode. And if you don't play with real players, then it's boring to ride with bots (very easy). 7/10
In my opinion this game on this step is just for relax. If you are expect only this from this game you can buy it. If you are waiting something else I would not recomend. The game has 3 game modes: race, time and score. 1)You can try to play "race" with your friends (I wasn't try) but I don't think you will play it for a long time because you will fast get bored. Playing race mode with AI don't give you much competition and you will win the race just on relax. 2)Time "try to finish the track as fast as you can" there is no interest for me to play this game mode. Try to compete with my self using just skiing mechanic? But for what? No, not this game. 3)Score. Sounds more interesting, right? In this mode you will not just skiing but also collect coins on track. More coins - more score. But you collect only coins and that's all. The same tracks as other game modes no interesting buffs, debuffs, no opportunity to die. You just collect it and will not get any reward for this except "score". It's also boring and you don't have any motivation to play this. All game modes are boring but I found one thing that can be interest for now. And it is just play for relax. The game has some pretty nice soundtracks and atmospheric night winter tracks. Go to the setting make sound tracks louder turn on race or time game mode. Choose track you like, night tracks works the best for it. And just RELAX. Do not compete and try to win, just RELAX. So I can see only two directions this game can evolve. The first - as relax game if it will get more atmospheric tracks and soundtracks. The second - evolve in score mode. If it will get more competitive with buffs, debuffs, opportunity to die and rewards. Or maybe the some mix of these two. Just like beatsaber it has a great competition and wish to get better plus it great musical and lightshow atmosphere with felling you are dancing on some tracks. About motion sickness. If you have it you can get a bit uncomfortable but not a lot. I think it's a good game to fight with it playing some track a day and get used to it.
Skiing VR is a paid VR skiing game. It worked on my HTC Vive, Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link and Index system, sounded ok, playded ok, looked ok, Was understandable. Has a simple tutorial level. Has Freeride mode so you can practice and see the maps. Has 17 steam achievements. You can ski with other people or with bots. Very good skiing game. Buy this, if you wanna ski in VR. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group
Skiing VR seems to be a promissing VR arcade ski game
It's not a simulator game, but feels pretty good, and by far it's the best ski VR game on Steam. It looks stylish, it's really fun and relaxing. But it's overpriced, you'll get only 4 maps and only 3 modes to play, I hope the devs will add more content. And it's hard to meet anyone in multiplayer. I want to ski, fellows! 8/10
Flying down the mountain, without suffering the cold - using nothing but your head to turn. find the best lines for leaderboard times, or invite a VR friend in to leisurely descend together. https://youtu.be/Y010CHcYLhY
This game was my first VR experience, and it's fantastic! I even fall off my feet a couple of times. I hope wish be more new locations and maybe some events. And yes! I'd like a place where I could spend all of the coins, until that moment they are fun but useless
Cool but doesnt work for me on oculus rift S
They told me that VR skies are safe and I would never break a leg. Now say it to my TV. Absolutely recommended.
