If you fail a level, you restart the PREVIOUS level. That design is just retarded and infuriating.
1) There is no/not enough input pause between levels, so sometimes you will fail a level because you were still pressing a button you needed to press to get to the end of the previous level 2) The physics feel really inconsistent in some regards (even if it's, maybe, not actually the case). When falling from the similar height, sometimes the board breaks/the guy goes limp, and sometimes not. 3)You get sent back a level when you die, which is a problem because of 1) & 2), but also because for some levels you actually need somewhat precise movement to not get killed by something ( I personally got stuck on level 32 iirc), which you can't practice properly if you constantly get sent back (which might lead to getting sent back again when failing either due to frustration or the fact the the levels are rather hard) It's cheap & the gameplay itself is actually quite fun, but the game design around it is, in my opinion, done poorly. Maybe it's on purpose to "make it hardcore", maybe not, but I don't feel like I should recommend it, unless you have a high tolerance for frustration & time to spare. (i'd give it a neutral rating, but that doesn't exist)

SK8 is pretty much exactly what it says it is in the description - a physics based hardcore 2D platformer. If you're into that kinda thing then this game might be right up your alley. Utilizing pretty simple controls, your objective is to reach the other end of each level. Seems easy enough unti you realize your guy is pretty much a bobblehead and will fall over if you so much as look at him the wrong way. But it's catchy enough that despite dying over and over, you still wanna give it a shot. Maybe you'll make it this time. I did encounter some lag while playing (which can be seen in my video below). I'm not 100% certain if it was the game or just my aging computer. But it seemed to clear up on it's own relatively quickly. So overall I'd say it might be worth checking out if you're into those physics based games or skateboarding games in general. It's not Skate or old school Tony Hawk, but it' still fun to mess around in for a bit. And for an example of how not to play: https://youtu.be/sdtC1yDPuI0
Hey m8, SK8 is gr8. Don't w8 and don't be l8 to this "grind." Looking forward to gamepad support and leaderboards!
Total garbage, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ controls , graphics , low effort game .
The gameplay itself isn't bad and can be somewhat charming. This game goes from a recommend to not recommended due to how it handles failures. If you fail a level your put back one level. This destroys any sort of accomplishment you might feel after getting through a tricky level, makes the game feel repetitive, and is an overall frustrating game mechanic. There are coins scattered in some levels that will give you extra lives; but you need multiple coins to get an extra life so they make little impact to the experience. If the devs ever add an "easy" mode that allows players to play through levels with less severe penalties for failure or takes out the mechanic altogether I would probably give it a recommend; but as it stands this is a game that can be skipped.
SK8 is a physics-based hardcore 2D platformer with a punishing difficulty curve which encourages a careful approach…Which I kind of wish it wasn’t. I’ve got no problem with it being a physics-based 2D platformer because the whole physics system this game has is great and has a lot of potential, but the issue is that whole ‘hardcore’ thing. If you fail a level instead of just restarting the level like a normal game, it instead sends you back to the previous level and then if you fail that back to the level before that. If you are simply stuck on level 3 for example you keep having to complete level 2 before you even get a chance at level 3 again. It’s frustrating because I really like the way this game plays, I just think that the game should have a casual and hardcore modes instead the it’s more accessible to everyone. Like I said I really do like this game and its physics but can’t recommend it due to being yeeted back to the previous level all the time. If it changed that and added some general options like changing resolution or turning off music (not that I don’t like the music, it’s actually pretty good) then I would say it’s one sk8ing game everyone should try. Maybe put them in the game and release it as SK8 2 or something. SK8: Great Skating Mate would be a legendary name xD
Idk why I have to go to previous level if I fail.
