Really good and really difficult

Played on the steam deck, had a fin-tastic fun time! I am relatively early into the game, having not beaten the first boss, but the vibes of the game are immaculate. Coming from someone who is not that experienced at rhythm games, I initially found the multi-tasking fishing mini-game difficult, but very satisfying once you get into the groove. Some minor feedback, I would recommend perhaps redoing some of the dialogue / text, as it isn't quite always correct, changing the sound of the text as it is slightly grating, and perhaps providing the ability to change some of the controller button prompt icons (they are playstation), but all of that is very minor, and does not hinder one's experience in any reel manner.

Okay, firstly, you think it's funny every time I go to see Cog and run straight towards her, don't you? Some bugs to iron out - text is sorely lacking in editing and mechanically, it seems to skip on click very often. BUT! The fishing minigame (lol) is very good! Challenging in several dimensions! Plus the music is catchy but not annoying.

(Early access review up to Patch 0.4.5.13, with the first two areas available) I wholeheartedly recommend this game. The core rhythm gameplay is a paddle game with a circular play field alongside an archetypal "reel tension" meter which does have the uniquity of being tied to the beat. This in itself makes for quite the unique game as the number of comparable titles is very sparse (only beatblock, another excellent early access game, comes to mind), but the developer does not rest on this alone as tons of fun gimmicks get thrown in as you progress in your fishing adventure. On top of this gameplay is a well-fitting fishing pastiche. It's a solid veneer, due in large part to the well-executed artstyle (reminiscent of some 2000's era Nihon Falcom titles like Gurumin/Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection or, of course, the well known Megaman legends series) with charming character designs and interesting, somewhat otherworldly environments. In terms of difficulty, I found it to be a decent challenge to FC&S rank all the presently available fish (though I'm far from a hardcore rhythm gamer, so your mileage may vary in that respect). The accompanying music was both varied and good. Overall, while I'm definitely looking forward to the next zones, the game has already reached a state where you can have a good time.
