Simon the Sorcerer: 25th Anniversary Edition

I am an avid fan of Simon the Sorcerer. I have been playing the series for a good 30 years now and I love every minute of it. However, this is by FAR the worst version of the game I have played and it is not even close. The people behind this version of the game have given the game a gross interface and options menu. It looks cheap and tacky, completely disregarding the pixel art style of the game itself. On top of that, the menu itself is broken. It has crashed this version of the game more times than I can count. To make things worse, the original menu isn't accessible and it's the only means to save the game, which is also broken. Yes, the ability to save the game is completely broken and has given me a "cannot save" error multiple times, crashing the game and losing my progress. I do NOT recommend this version of Simon the Sorcerer. It's just not worth it. The only redeeming feature this game has is the ability to play the original ScummVM version at launch. However, you've got to be sure to download that as a DLC before starting the game. I wasn't aware of this at the time. Oh, and it doesn't work on the Steam Deck. Such a waste of a great fun comedic game.

Absolute neutral if I could give one. I love the aesthetic, and I love Chris Barrie - but I just didn't think his delivery suited that of a 14 year old and it just kind of felt disconnected from the game, didn't blend right. One big cause of frustration is that the exits aren't marked, even on hover - so on a number of occasions I was stuck just because I didn't know a specific area even existed. I also found the puzzles as a whole, kind of disjointed and simplistic. I spent the entire first half of the game just unsure what I should even be doing. I was just solving problems for the sake of solving problems - there was no real reason behind anything I was doing. Often solutions made no real sense, even by PNC standards. I've heard the sequel is better, so I'll give that a try - but certainly not in a rush to play this again.

Never played this as a kid. Sorry I missed it. I loved point and click Adventures. Simon the Sorcerer is definitely up there with the best of them. Love the humor and very enjoyable to play!

Old school perfect!

Text wird nur von Simon angezeigt, aber nicht von den NPCs. Hängt sich laufend auf und hakt wenn NPCs erzählen. So kommt kein Spielfluss auf. Grafisch hätten die es etwas aufpeppen können. Dann doch lieber aufm emulator!

The classic is still fun, played the Scumm version so I could window it. Was one scene it crashed a lot in with druid but I just saved whenever I could between conversations.
