Really great combination of classic turn-based grid tactics with deckbuilder mechanics. The interactions between various card traits and how they play out in space makes for some really interesting potential strategies, especially with the ability to add card characteristics. The difficulty has some randomness and isn't always linear - it's easy to get lulled into some lazy strategies with a series of fairly easy battles and then suddenly get hit with a much more challenging match that you haven't optimized well enough for. The art style is great, but the minimalist pixel characters can sometimes form visual chaos as they obstruct each other and make selecting the desired grid difficult.
Buggy mess of a game with a horribly awkward UI, unreliable damage preview and unclear/bugged interactions of various keywords. Controller support is also very poor: everything takes multiple inputs and just navigating the grid is an exercise in frustration. This would need a lot more polish to be an enjoyable title. Since development appears to be finished, I'd say stay away from this one.
Having a ton of fun with this game so far. Very Slay the Spire inspired but I've always preferred tactical RPGs so this is hitting much better for me. There are some bugs but nothing that's hurt the experience too much. Definitely worth the purchase.
Well, either what I encountered was a bug, or I need something that explains a bit more on the game mechanics. I was on the third boss when I suddenly died attacking an enemy. I was absolutely steamrolling prior to that, so I find it a bit odd. That being said, I haven't had any obvious bugs, issues with controls, no crashes. The game also happens to be pretty fun!
Shuffle Tactics, developed by Club Sandwich and published by The Arcade Crew, is an ambitious blend of turn-based tactics and roguelike deckbuilding that aims to merge two complex genres into a single cohesive experience. At its best, it delivers moments of clever synergy and strategic satisfaction, but it also reveals the challenges of balancing layered systems that don’t always align as smoothly as intended. Set in a fractured fantasy world overtaken by a mysterious corruption, the game establishes a thematic backdrop that supports its mechanics without becoming the central focus. The narrative introduces a kingdom in decline and a cast of characters shaped by this decay, but storytelling remains relatively light. Rather than guiding the experience through deep character arcs or intricate lore, the game uses its setting as a framework for the tactical encounters that define its core. This approach keeps the pacing focused on gameplay, though it can leave the world feeling underdeveloped for players seeking a stronger narrative connection. The defining feature of Shuffle Tactics is its hybrid combat system. Battles take place on grid-based maps where positioning, terrain, and movement are just as important as the cards in your hand. Each turn requires careful allocation of action points, forcing players to balance offense, defense, and mobility. The addition of deckbuilding mechanics introduces another layer of decision-making, as players must not only consider their current position but also how their evolving deck will influence future turns. When these systems work together, the result is a satisfying loop where planning and execution feel tightly connected. Deckbuilding plays a central role in shaping each run. Players acquire new cards, relics, and abilities as they progress, allowing for a wide range of potential strategies. Some builds emphasize aggressive play, chaining attacks for maximum damage, while others focus on control, positioning, or defensive synergy. This variability gives the game a strong sense of replayability, as each run can unfold differently depending on the choices made and the options presented. The inclusion of multiple playable characters further enhances this diversity, each bringing unique mechanics and playstyles that encourage experimentation. However, the game’s reliance on randomness introduces a level of unpredictability that can sometimes undermine its strategic depth. Card draws, enemy behavior, and available upgrades can all significantly influence the outcome of a run, occasionally leading to situations where success feels dependent on luck rather than planning. While this is a common trait in roguelike design, it can be more noticeable here due to the layered nature of the gameplay. Players may find themselves carefully constructing a strategy only to have it disrupted by unfavorable conditions, which can be both challenging and frustrating. Difficulty is another aspect that shapes the overall experience. The game does not hold back in testing the player’s understanding of its systems, often presenting encounters that require precise execution and thoughtful decision-making. While this level of challenge can be rewarding for those who enjoy mastering complex mechanics, it is not always balanced consistently. Sudden spikes in difficulty and limited feedback on enemy actions can make certain encounters feel punishing rather than instructive, potentially discouraging less experienced players. Visually, the game adopts a detailed pixel-art style that complements its tactical design. Characters are expressive, and animations give combat a sense of weight and impact. Environments are varied and visually engaging, helping to differentiate encounters and maintain a sense of progression. However, the density of visual elements on the battlefield can occasionally reduce clarity, making it harder to quickly assess situations during more chaotic moments. This can impact decision-making, particularly in a game where positioning is so critical. Despite its imperfections, Shuffle Tactics offers a compelling experience for players who appreciate deep, systems-driven gameplay. Its combination of tactical positioning and deckbuilding creates opportunities for creative problem-solving, and its replayability ensures that there is always another strategy to explore. At the same time, its rough edges—particularly in balance and clarity—highlight the challenges of merging two complex genres into a single design. Ultimately, Shuffle Tactics is a game defined by its ambition and potential. It does not always achieve the level of refinement needed to fully realize its ideas, but it consistently demonstrates flashes of brilliance that make it worth engaging with. For players willing to navigate its challenges and embrace its unpredictability, it offers a rewarding and thought-provoking take on tactical roguelike design. Rating: 7/10
is gooooooood. A refreshing turn based tactics game. git it.
The game still have some minor and major bugs, but still love it thou
好游戏,承受着它不该有的低销量和差评 玩法美术都很有意思 应该是我玩过最好的战棋+肉鸽打牌的游戏
Excellent tactical rogue-lite with solid progression and increasing challenge
has some minor bugs here and there but the gameplay is so extremely satisfying that I don't mind, I also love that the secrets in this game are not obvious so figuring them out feels very nostalgic of a time you had no internet or tutorials holding your hand all the way
