Really enjoyed this one especially the twist at the end i really hope more people play this gem. i was watching this games development from the chained echoes discord for yrs. I hope they make a sequel i think it needs one. what i enjoyed the different powers and the dungenons the water temple was a pain though. the final dungeon was like a gauntlet at the end.
Really fun! Graphics are cute and the story is filled with little jokes. Hubby and I plug up controllers and play co-op and are having a blast!
The game is super cute unfortunately I hit a game breaking bug less than 10 minutes in. After receiving the "Dummy Juice" and getting the "Dummy Affinity" if I try to access the Status screen the game crashes to desktop.
"inspired by Secret of Mana and Illusion of Gaia" i said oh i bet I'm obsessed with doing slide attacks, the soundtrack is beautiful, the storyline is interesting, and the art is super cute. so awesome actually
This game is an overall positive, and I'm sure playing it co-op made it a better experience. The story was well done overall, and we really enjoyed a lot of the characters and how levelling up felt. However, a few flaws: 1) Parts of the storyline resolved so quickly it felt almost comedic, like
when the Sword of Shrine broke and we got a new one within five minutes.
2) Backtracking to do some of the side quests felt like a chore. A more modernized map would have been amazing. 3) Some of the combat was very lackluster. This was okay at the beginning, but the novelty wore off.
Using the final few bosses as an example, you could pretty much stand in one place, ignoring any "mechanics" while swinging away and healing when needed.
4) Some sort of inventory would have been nice. We picked up a lot of equipment, and had no idea if it even did anything for us. I suppose you could chalk it up to "An ode to SNES era games", or maybe modern games have spoiled me. Even with the flaws, worth a purchase and a playthrough.
I usually like games like SNES RPGs, Sea of Stars and similar, but this one did click for me and my girlfriend. It felt somehow too "simple" and "unpolished" (not in the optical sense, but the mechanics and puzzles).
Its okay. I wouldnt pay full price again.
If you like cross code & alabaster dawn cannot go wrong getting this one too three peas in a pod 🫛😁
