Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Aug 27 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Don't be fooled by the mixed reviews! This game is an absolute 10/10. The slow-downs people talk about are just the natural slow downs that happened back in the day for very ambitious games like this that were graphically intensive for the Arcade machines at the time. I used to play this in the Arcade. SNK games were notorious for being ambitious and taking up a lot of memory to run up to the point of lagging. I think it just added a bit to the charm with some of their games. It's not game-breaking and it's barely noticeable. To me it comes naturally because that's just how I played these games.. This is normal no different then the scanlines you can emulate on retro games. It's just a style thing. If you don't like it.. well, maybe real retro arcade gaming isn't for you and that's ok! But at least understand what's going on, this is just part of how some games used to be.
Let's make this short
The storytelling took a different direction from that of its predecessor, telling a story of its own. Here, the protagonists battled a criminal organisation called DIO, with Nakatomi as the main villain. However, the same tactic was employed: the main villain demanded absolute power in exchange for not destroying everything. The presentation was highly entertaining, featuring cool, eye-catching battles throughout. You only had 72 in-game hours to complete your missions, but our heroes finish much faster than that! You play as four different characters, each with their own weapons, abilities and power-ups. Little Lulu was the best area manager I have ever seen, while Leon and Toy loved charging head-on into everything. Although the playtime was just under an hour, there were two branching paths with a variety of cool missions. I did two playthroughs, but to really master the game you’d need a bit more, especially if you want all achievements.
Controls
You can dodge with jumps, shoot in a 360-degree arc with various weapons and power-ups, throw special grenades, detonate dynamite and charge up special attacks. You can also collect letters for bonus points and move sideways seamlessly and stylishly while holding down the fire button. You also level up your power by slicing through enemies in melee combat, which granted you up to three weapon mastery ranks. Each level increased the variety of weapons and attack patterns, giving you an advantage in combat. As well as your primary weapon, you could collect various other weapons, such as a flamethrower, boomerang, rocket launcher or rechargeable 360 Blaster.
Visuals
Aside from the obvious, the game featured amazing details and impressive visual effects. While the main characters had their own distinct animations, the enemies weren't far behind. Each one had its own unique patterns, surprise attacks and arsenal. I was surprised at how varied they were; most would simply clean their mechs and jump right in when the protagonist arrived. The art style was great, with quite a few variations in the levels and unique vibes. Unfortunately, the game suffered from significant frame drops, which were reduced to the tens in high-action combat. Whenever a battle started, the frame rate dropped significantly, which I didn't like at all.
Level Design
The level design was awesome, with cool layouts, hidden landscapes and mind-blowing world destruction. You started on the city streets and soon found yourself in the desert, where you encountered bombing jets, hidden military bases, train chases, HQ buildings, sea ports and even nuclear facilities. The atmosphere was fantastic, offering a great sense of progression and rewarding you with resistance fighters and flashy character appearances that enjoyed my brother and me for at least an hour in co-op.
Final Verdict
An amazing sequel to the original Shock Troopers. Although the performance and frame drops negatively impacted the overall gameplay experience, the presentation is excellent. It's perfect for an hour or two with a co-op partner if you want to experience both paths and mindlessly shoot up enemies. 8/10
The fps keeps dropping and flickering, so much so that I've started to have epilepsy.
*Literalmente el boss es un rascacielos...*
¡que mamada!, es el mejor boss de la historia, me encanta; y que buenos cumbiones bélicos hacían antes con las limitantes de la época.
>A Grandes Rasgos:
Not as Good as the Original. I loved the first Shock Troopers, but Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad just doesn’t hit the same. The biggest downgrade is the gameplay. The original Shock Troopers felt fast, intense, and smooth. Movement was tighter, weapons felt more satisfying, and the overall pacing kept you on edge. In 2nd Squad, everything feels slower and less responsive. The fixed direction shooting really hurts the flow compared to the run-and-gun freedom of the first game. The level design also feels less creative. The first game had more variety and memorable routes, while this one feels repetitive and more linear. It’s not terrible, but it definitely lacks the charm and replay value that made the original so addictive. Graphics are slightly updated, but honestly, that’s not enough to make up for the weaker gameplay changes. If you’re new to the series, it’s still playable. But if you’re a fan of the original, this sequel might feel like a step backward. Overall: Disappointing compared to the first game.
A bad port. I've tried playing this game on my steam deck, on a PC with a 1080 and a 970. Tinkered with the settings and no matter what, the game is stuttering and I am experiencing extreme frame rate loss. Which is super strange because it's not like this should be a demanding game. If it worked, I might recommend it - but it doesn't. I would suggest playing the 1st shock troopers. I had no issues with that one.
Everything that's great about the first game is missing here, only few playable characters, no gore which by the way is the reason the first one is great. I'm not even a fan of the controls, but at least it was still fun to play, just overshadowed by its predecessor.
Unfortunately, after playing Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad, I now know why there are only two Shock Trooper games – but, it feels less like it's the game's fault and more the fault of the game's title. See, despite this being billed as a sequel, this game honestly feels as though it was made by an entirely different team for an entirely different franchise. But there is one thing that stayed the same – and that's the core gameplay. You're still mowing foes down in a top-down shooter fashion, but everything surrounding this has changed. The first thing I noticed was the complete lack of a story. Granted, the original wasn't exactly an award winning novella, but the cutscenes were a nice change of pace and showed off the game's awesome pixel art. Here, the most you get is a poorly translated one-liner when finishing a level (my favourite being "I hate to jam with ham dancers.") On the topic of pixel art, the next noticeable thing is the step down in artwork. The game almost feels like a GBA game at times with how washed out the colour palette is. It also uses 3D artwork for the backgrounds, which is the exact same critique I levied at the later Metal Slug games for looking ugly and jarring. On the gameplay front, there's one big problem I have – the amount of characters. The original game had 8 characters, 3 of which you could switch between at once. Thanks to their different special weapons it gave the game a nice variety. Here though, there are only four total – to make up for the lack of variety there are vehicles you now get in and shoot on occasion, but I honestly don't feel that was worth the trade-off. At the end of the day, this game is still fun. But it's biggest sin is being a follow up to the original – making a more repetitive game with less content and pitching it as a follow up is just disappointing no matter how you look at it, which is a shame.
