About

I’ve always loved ships and boats, tall ships, steamers, pre-dreadnought french monstrosities, I love em all.
ShipShaper is a explorative ship builder I made for the simple pleasure of shaping boats and ships. You pull, push, and drag forms into place, creating everything from humble fishing vessels to tall ships, ironclads, and early dreadnoughts.
You can create historical ships, fantasy ships, steampunk you name it.
It's a boat designer married to experimental interfaces that are intended to take away the tedium from designing boats. No 3D skills required, no endless stacks of cubes, just some organic shaping and attaching props and functional items to create whatever ship you want.
When you’re done, you can place your ships into a world and sail them, the game does a proper analysis of your creation, its propulsion, hull shape and weight, all in order so you can properly enjoy and test your creation.
ShipShaper is about creating a foundational technology that will power my own future games, connect my franchise but also empower other creators to have fun with ships and have a usable output, game-ready and usable.
Features:
Free-form building
Responsive shaping
Expanding library of details and props
Test your ship, get sailing behavior that is derived from your design.
Export FBX or STL 3d files with a license to use how you see fit.
Export to Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles

As much as there are things I hope are added to the game, what's already here is above and beyond the best ship building experince I've had. (Coming from someone with 3000+ hours on Navalart) 1. The period is probably my favourite part, as the ability to construct everything from Ancient to WWI vessels is a HUGE win in my book. 2. The building experince is incredibly smooth and highly intuitive, while also providing options for a wide veriety of ship types and shapes. (Yes, you can build a circular monitor. I already did) 3. The full size is just right, as I was able to construct my dear beloved Princess Willemina in all her terrifying glory while making her look so much better than her Navalart counter-part. 4. The sheer amount of weapons options is something I cannot praise enough (though in saying that, I beg you, please add breach-loading deck guns and gatling guns) 5. This may seem like a small thing, but the fact the sails work AND actually adjust for wind in real time has got to be one of the most impressive things of all. (that, and the fact the rigging is correct, even if I wish the Victory style masts had more jib lines for their full height) So, in a rating of 1-10, I give it a solid 8/10. Fantastic work and I look forward to seeing what's added.

Played alot of the demo, really enjoying the game so far... Takes a little bit to learn things but you can make some really cool stuff. Looking forward to see what parts are added in the future. Very Cool so far.
Been using this briefly, and in the 2.5~ hours that I've posted this review, I've managed to create a semi-realistic historical sloop. Watching its sails work in real time realistically is beyond me. I can't NOT recommend this as a tool for creators, even if it's primarily a tool for another game/project by the dev. -=- The Good -=- #1: The ability to make ships the way you want it, and not just historical creations is beyond cool. I'm going to be using this to make semi-realistic models of real-world "Age of Sail" ships. This tool is perfect for an easy way to do so. #2: The unified color schemes allow a ship to have a sense of looking good with different pieces being colored the same thing is just a very neat idea. Even randomly generated color schemes look good, and that's not a small feat to do. #3: The ability to just see and vote on workshop items in-program is awesome. Only a few other games/pieces of software allow this, but this is the only one that allows it to be shared and exported so smoothly. Huge props for this. #4: The free commercial license is a MASSIVE boon for creators all around. For a small price tag, you can export the 3D files, take screenshots and whatever to use in your own projects. I know for one as a TTRPG writer and designer, I will be using this software for sailing stuff and projects. Attribution will be given, as it's RIGHTFULLY deserved. -=- The Bad -=- #1: The UI not being anchored to the screenspace and being there physically below a ship in the designer is not helpful. It doesn't stop you from creating awesome things, but it hinders usability. #2: There is no copy/paste, and all objects placed on a ship are in pairs. Ctrl + z works just fine, but Ctrl + c and ctrl + v don't. The developer responded to me on Reddit saying it was primarily a optimization problem, but its on their work list. A way to unpair them without workarounds would be awesome, or a toggle to be clicked. #3: Moving objects on a ship is counter-intuitive. I'm sure this is a feature/workaround I will have to figure out, but the program wants you to click on an object to move it. However, sometimes when you click the small circle that it gives you, you will instead click another object and you will have to try again. Perhaps this can be worked around via a parts list? Also the ability for precise placement via X/Y/Z vectors (Not sure what it's called, but the RGB arrows that show up in other programs when you want to click an object) would be perfect. #4: The color selector needs better UI implementation and usability. No hexcodes or RGB values means that if you want two sections to have the same color you're guesstimating. I'd prefer a regular color selector or field for RGB/Hexcode input for precise coloration exactly to what you want. -=- The Wants -=- #1: Sci-Fi ship parts. Likely a pipe dream, and beyond the scope of this project. I'd love to have the ability to make sci-fi designs and see how they look amongst a galaxy or random stars in the background. #2: A menu to allow me to pick specifically what parts I want to place down instead of placing one down and seeing if what I want is there. A way to search parts in a menu. #3: A way to make all objects of a specific type the same size. The moment you accidentally resize something you have to spam undo until it reverts. A way to just click a button would be very nice. For example, a number of cannons, portholes or doors. Wanting them to all be the same size makes sense.
Totalmente recomendable.
I managed to snag a key in the community discord for early testing and I've only built one ship in one of the earliest beta builds as of yet so take this review with a little grain of salt. Appropriately salinated, I will say that I am happy to support Tomas Sala and pretty much anything that he creates regarding his Falconeer series. His journey as a gamedev is admirable and he's driven and passionate and that is NOT guaranteed in the industry nowadays. ShipShaper is sort of like a DLC that isn't a DLC, that will allow you to print builds in real life and export those builds into the Bulwark game, it's essentially an easy to pick up modding tool for creating fun little boats that can be used both inside and outside the Falconeer ecosystem. I don't know the price it will launch at but knowing Tomas he will likely have it be below the price of a traditional dish in my city :) Try the demo, see how it feels, consider wishlisting or even checking out other titles of the Falconeer Chronicles. But most importantly and this is *critical* for you while playing any Falconeer game: Please do enjoy your time and have fun.
先说缺点,目前确实更像个“造船玩具”,传统游戏内容不算多。 但我还是给好评,因为它至少很清楚自己现在要干嘛:让你舒舒服服造船。 后面多加点部件就更好了。
Tiny Glade, but with Ships. And the ability of using your Ships in Bulwark Falconeer Chronicles. And the possibility of exporting your Ships to 3D print them. Or use them however you want. Editor can be finicky in the beginning, but once you pick up its quirks, it's pretty good. How could you not love this little gem?
