The game is good, but after playing SMT3 and this I fully get why Persona has gotten way more popular. If you're looking for a story game, skip this. The story is as barebones as it gets, even the mmorpg spinoff megaten had more intricate writing. But the combat is great, which keeps you engaged for a long time. I've only played the canon of creation so far, so maybe this is an unfair assessment, but it also feels like the game runs out of steam at 90%, the last couple sidequests seem absurd in their difficulty scaling. And we all know what difficulty means in Jrpg games, it's grinding. Ain't no one got time for that. Maybe some of the quests like fighting Shiva were meant for ng+. Conclusion: If you like the SMT/Persona combat, buy it. If you can't play a game without a good story and beautiful world design - skip it.

Y O U N G M A N . . . ˢaʸyʸ ˢaʸyʸy [fun fact] 𝒦𝑒𝑒𝐻𝑒𝑒! 𝐼 𝒽𝑜𝓅𝑒 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒷𝓇𝑜𝓊𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝑀𝒶𝒸𝒸𝒶! Takes about an hour to get going, and then boom ... 80 hours straight. About to start NG+. I need that 100% demon compendium.
Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance is a masterclass in gameplay. Where it lacks in story, it makes up in gameplay. The customization is ENDLESS and every build for the protagonist is viable, even status ailments are now pretty viable. You are also able to individually raise the stats of your demons or level them up fast with an item. It is also possible to give your demon almost any skill, given that you have the correct essence(which can also be farmed!). It truly allows for limitless potential in team building! As a long time SMT fan, the Netherworld is also very beautiful. The demons feel alive and you find demons exactly where you would expect to find them (for example, Mermaids near water, bird-like demons on high places, horse like demons in big open fields). The story is lacking but for me that is more of a feature than a complaint! This was, and still is, the perfect game to just kinda chill to. Exploration was also really fun with a lot of sidequests that add to the overall worldbuilding. The music is absolutely amazing. It also ran flawlessly on my PC and I have heard that this game is very well optimized. If you are a fan of JRPGS or even remotely interested in this game, I HIGHLY recommend it.
Gioconeeee!!!
