Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments

Feels immersive and like I'm in the Sherlock Holmes books, I really like that it feels like you're solving crimes and doing slow, methodical detective work. The gameplay and QTEs are really clunky so it brings the score down a little but I still enjoyed it overall. 8/10

Fun until it crashes during the first investigation. Played on Steam Deck, and was unable to progress past the second interrogation due to crashing. Whomever verified this game failed in their professional capacity to assess functional compatibility and should be metaphorically flogged.

super fun game! looks and plays great (besides it crashing a few times in the mind palace lol). only complaint is the asian guys voice, that felt hella racist, like in a white guy doing a stereotypical accent type of way

A murder mystery game with 6 cases in total. Most of the cases in the game are not as clear cut as they appear to be at first, where you will most certainly need to pay attention and review evidence, interactions, testimonies and other sources of information to get the most ideal outcome of each case. Pros & Cons: + The cases are mostly well constructed multiple probable solutions, leaving it to you to find the most likely one + The deductions in some cases are not as straighforward as you might think + The cases each have a nice plot like those in a Sherlock Holmes novel. + The game rarely handhold you to the clues so solving most cases feel earned and not a byproduct of following objectives. + Sherlock Holmes can wear a top hat. +/- Its an old game with compressed textures of the 2000s +/- walking around in 3rd person view can make you fight the camera +/- Cases can be overwhelmingly full of evidence +/- QTEs are in the game and they can affect your case outcomes. - The game runs old software that will force change your screen resolution. - It crashes sometimes - Can get motion sickness from the camera bouncing around when walking, which you will do alot of. - Some interactive scenes won't have the most intuitive interactions. On the side of the murder mysteries, of the 6 cases, I would say 4 of them are very competent with multiple possibilities which may seem feasible at first glance, while the other 2 trade the mystery component for the plot. The story itself is also fairly intriguing. Overall a solid detective game, with the confidence to let the player figure out the mysteries themselves rather than spoonfeed them to you.

Some of the mechanics and UI used in this game should not have been left behind in time. Some really unique minigames and implications I wish modern games would use. Had a great time solving each case even though it struggles at time.
