As of fan of Kudos Rock Legends, I was hoping for something similar to Rising Star 2 where you get to manage a band, design songs, select tour locations, and try to rise in popularity. I thought this game would be a successor, however, I was beyond disappointed. My biggest complaint is that this game is a card game, and a bad one at that. The RNG is nowhere near balanced for the difficulty modes you choose, so you can play the easiest or the hardest difficulty; regardless of your choice, you'll inevitably hit a string of performances that end in a game over. The AI opponents amass a wealth of multipliers, songs with multiple performance options, and worst of all, technical difficulties that destroy your performance. There's no option to sell the equipment you buy, so what would become a helpful boost in cash is just wasted. This especially hurts in the end when you can, and should, re-roll for better gear (the option, in my opinion, is also a horrible price as you'll probably need to re-roll multiple times for end-gear equipment), but are strapped for cash. I could go on with my frustrations, but at the end of the day, I just don't like it. Long story short, if you're looking for a spiritual successor for Rising Star 2, this isn't it. It's an early access game that isn't ready for even early access. The use of AI to fill in for music that "will eventually" be added reinforces this point. If you like card games and are willing to help the creator with improving the game, then by all means, purchase it and play it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the product and can't recommend it at this time.
It has potential. Obviously there are some gameplay quirks and bugs that will have to get fixed, but that's what you get in Early Access. If you liked Rising Star and you enjoy card games, you should definitely get it.
I'm not really into card games, but bought this on a whim. I'm impressed, it's pretty fun so far.
I like it, it's fun. Definitely needs some balancing and fleshing-out. It can be a bit rigid and difficult. Edit: And very short.
[EN] Shady O'Grady's™ Overnight Sensation is a fantastic roguelike battle card game that’s a ton of fun thanks to its musical setting—the songs really stick in your head. The great thing is, you get into the game quickly and start seeing success as you aim for high scores, and the character design is really well done. I’d love to see a system where, whether you complete a run or lose, you can gradually unlock permanent skills with points to keep players motivated. Finally, I’d like to call on all musicians to submit their original music to the developer—if the developer is open to it—so there’s something for every player’s musical taste.
Didn't think I was into card games or deck builders, purchased only because I am a fan of Rising Star 2 and wish to support Game creators. I am having fun with this, game play is easy to understand and rounds are quick - would be awesome as an online game against other players.
I’m not a big fan of deckbuilding card-battling sort of games, but I am a big fan of Gilligames so I bought it mainly just to show appreciation and support to the dev for putting out these peculiar little niche games. But as it turns out, this one is a ton of fun! I’ve been hooked since I bought it just a few days ago, and my 9-year-old daughter is too! The game definitely needs some more balancing because the regional bosses get brutally hard by the time you’re in your second or third region, and sometimes it seems like no matter what buffs and upgraded instruments I buy, I can’t compete. I expect this to get smoothed out over time. I’ve also seen some people complain about the use of AI in the making of the songs used in the game. Don’t listen to these clowns; they don’t realize how ridiculous they’re being. Asking a one-man dev team to drop everything and write and record 100+ songs from scratch to satisfy some stranger’s anti-AI grandstanding is absurd. If ever there was an acceptable use of generative AI in a video game, this is it. The songs are just rock-n-roll noise to indicate a song is being performed while you’re slinging your cards. It’s not that deep, and doesn’t need to be. Gilligames, keep up the fine work! I’m really looking forward to future improvements to this one!

Fun, immersive, and I hope he continues to use AI for music and content to grow this even bigger. Amazing fun, 8 hours, and we have made a guide for you to enjoy even faster! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3744792971 It is not demanding on any system, has replay ability, content, and more music on the way, and the developer is interactive with the community. One of the best games of this genre operates as a well-oiled machine.
