Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Sep 1 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, developed by Games Farm and published by Kalypso Media Digital, is an action RPG that tries to stand apart in a genre dominated by titles that often follow the same blueprint. Instead of copying the formula, the game introduces a distinctive mechanic: the ability to shift between the physical world and a shadow realm, with each plane affecting both exploration and combat. You play as the Devourer, a demon bound to the souls of fallen heroes, who can assume their forms and use their unique abilities. This dual-world, multi-character system is the heart of the game and provides a genuinely fresh experience within the ARPG landscape. Set in a dark and mystical fantasy universe, the narrative takes place after the events of Kult: Heretic Kingdoms. The world is fractured by war, mysticism, and the lingering influence of a secretive order called the Penta Nera. What gives the story an edge is its premise: instead of being a hero destined to save the world, you are a demon who manipulates events from behind the scenes. The game offers various heroes to resurrect, each with their own backstory, motivations, and fighting styles. Through their eyes—and through the Devourer's internal musings—you begin to piece together the complex political and supernatural web that drives the narrative forward. Dialogues are generally well-written, often hinting at deeper lore, and occasionally surprise with humor or introspective insight. Gameplay-wise, the game strikes an intriguing balance between experimentation and traditional mechanics. You can switch between the Devourer and up to three mortal characters on the fly, using different skills in combat or solving environmental puzzles by switching between the shadow and material planes. This adds a strategic layer, requiring players to think about enemy types, elemental resistances, and terrain interactions. The real-time combat system is functional but not always as fluid as it should be. While it offers a decent variety of skills, weapons, and combos, the responsiveness can feel inconsistent, especially during intense battles. Hit detection and movement lack the tightness found in genre leaders, and this can be frustrating when facing multiple enemies or trying to execute timed abilities with precision. Visually, the game holds its own with strong environmental design and a moody aesthetic that fits its grim tone. Each region you traverse—whether it’s a sun-baked desert, a corrupted forest, or ancient ruins—feels distinct and is filled with atmosphere. The shadow realm is an especially creative touch, transforming familiar areas into eerie, decayed versions of themselves. Sound design also complements the visual storytelling well, with an ambient soundtrack that enhances the game’s sense of mystery and foreboding. Voice acting varies in quality but generally does a decent job of conveying character personality and emotional tone, particularly in scenes involving the Devourer and the heroes he controls. However, the game is not without its flaws, and they do stand out the deeper you go. One persistent issue is pacing. While the early chapters introduce mechanics and lore in a compelling way, the mid-to-late game suffers from repetition. Side quests become formulaic, and the diversity of environments and enemies doesn’t quite keep pace with the game’s length. There are also some underdeveloped systems, such as crafting and inventory management, which feel tacked on rather than integrated into the core gameplay loop. Managing equipment between multiple characters becomes tedious, especially when combined with a cluttered user interface that doesn’t scale well with complexity. Another area of concern is the technical execution. While the game isn't riddled with game-breaking bugs, it does have performance hitches, occasional crashes, and long loading times between zones. These issues break immersion and can sap momentum from otherwise engaging gameplay sequences. Furthermore, although the soul-switching mechanic is inventive, it’s not always used to its full potential. Puzzles and combat scenarios that require toggling between planes could have been more creatively designed, especially considering how much potential the system has. In many cases, the mechanic feels more like a gimmick than a fully realized game-changing feature. Despite its shortcomings, Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms offers a unique spin on the ARPG genre. Its narrative framing, the morally ambiguous protagonist, and the dual-realm system set it apart from more derivative titles. It’s a game that dares to try something different, even if it doesn't always succeed in polishing those ideas to perfection. For players who value narrative depth, character diversity, and a fresh take on party-based action RPG mechanics, there’s a lot to appreciate here. However, those looking for finely tuned combat, seamless UI, and the refined experience of a big-budget ARPG may find it lacking in key areas. In the end, Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms feels like a promising experiment—an attempt to rethink how players interact with character roles and world structure in action RPGs. While it stumbles in execution, particularly in combat fluidity and system depth, it leaves an impression through its world-building, atmospheric design, and creative gameplay foundation. It may not be a must-play for everyone, but for genre fans willing to embrace its imperfections, it provides a memorable and often intriguing journey through a world shaped by shadow, soul, and consequence.
thumbs up
