Information / Review English
SGS We The People War is a strategy/war game developed by Strategy Game Studio.
Gameplay / Story
The American Revolutionary War or American War of Independence took place from 1775 to 1783 between the Thirteen Colonies and the British colonial power. It was the high point of the American independence movement and, after the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the formation of the Confederacy in 1777, led to its victorious conclusion and the creation of the United States of America. At the very end was the formation of the United States of America. Through the American Revolution, the English colonies in America became independent of the mother country England and received their own rights and freedom. The Declaration of Independence was preceded by the American Revolutionary War. It was only at the end of the war, which lasted eight years, that the Declaration of Independence was made. One reason for war and the desired solution from Great Britain was the colonies' lack of a say. Many people felt oppressed and exploited. Even before the war broke out, there were many protests in the colonies. Since 1760, relations between Great Britain and the American colonies had deteriorated. It was also about money. Because Britain needed money. France had previously been eliminated as a colonial power, and this war also cost a lot of money. Now the colonies should do their part and bring money into the national treasury. This provoked strong protests from the colonies. The game offers you many different scenarios, which give you the options of lightning-fast offensives, defensive work to defend your defense, amphibious attacks. What I really liked and what stands out is that decisions have an impact on the economy, industry and production that are involved in the long war. The different scenarios offer good variety, regardless of whether they only take a few rounds or several, as each one brings its own experiences. There are several solutions available to you to deal with the game's event cards and the various situations, for example by solving a situation diplomatically or by taking military, political or economic action to take over an area or create space.
Pro
+ forgotten history + immerses you in the wartime + Documents to read + symmetrical resources of the armies + good interface + suitable music + multiple units are available + Tutorial
Contra
- No achievements and trading cards available yet
Conclusion
SGS We The People offers you a part of a long-forgotten history of the world. Clear purchase recommendation for anyone who likes history and is interested in it.

Information / Review Deutsch
SGS We The People War ist ein Strategie/Kriegsspiel, welches von Strategy Game Studio entwickelt wurde.
Gameplay / Story
Kontra
- bisher noch keine Errungenschaften und Sammelkarten verfügbar
Fazit
SGS We The People bietet dir ein Teil einer längst vergessenen Geschichte der Welt. Enjoying the game, particularly the Invasion of Canada. I highly recommend new players start here because it is a great way to learn the flow of turns, supply, naval transport, siege, and the very direct line of attack along with few units is perfect for learning. As always the artwork on the units is outstanding. I can play the invasion scenario in under an hour. Played about 8 times and different each time. When I was younger I really only wanted full campaigns, but as I have aged the smaller scenarios have grown in appeal. I hope SSG will keep adding small scenarios to their games. It is absolutely the best way to approach these games. The more I play the different titles the easier the turn flow and combat mechanics are to understand. Then each title adds it's own unique flavor based on the time frame or technology of the time. I applaud SSG for not just cookie cutter each title, but adding individuality to each title. The artwork, campaigns not normally explored, and basic rules common to each title, will only add to accessibility as the library grows. Keep the small scenarios coming and looking forward to the future releases.
Meh! Not sure this is for me. The "rules" and explanations are non-existent for this game apart from some very short, rushed videos that need do not really explain anything. I have loads of cards but cannot play any of them, but every battle the opponent plays 2 or 3? I have played the game for 13 hours now and feel bored, let down, wondering the meaning of life, and what is for dinner. I expected this to be enjoyable and entertaining but it is just plain boring. I bought it on sale, but still feel robbed. Up to you if you want to buy it but I would not bother.
SGS We the People might sound and feel a bit like AGEOD's 1775 and 1776 scenarios, and it is, but it has a wholly different take on this conflict. The naval war allows the budding Colonial Navy to take the fight to Britain on the seas. Land combat and movement are intuitive, but I occasionally have to expand the game to its max to make the move when regions are small. With the challenge not only of fog of war, but the use of rumor units, that is, units which do not exist but appear to be present finding and defeating opposing armies can be a cat and mouse event. Several small scenarios are not only a solid introduction to the game system, but a way to examine some of the important campaigns of the war. The grand campaigns, starting in 1775 and 1776 present a different focus. In 1775 the budding colonial army tries to add Canada as the 14th colony. For those like me who see this as an historical non-starter, the 1776 scenario starts with the siege of Boston. I like the flow of the game and the balance, but the use of cards adds a surprise element. While many of the cards cover the strategic and logistical aspects of the war, the battle cards are the ones which can turn a risky maneuver into a war turning battle. All in all, a fresh and challenging game of the American Revolution.
A truly epic experience playing this one. The small scenarios set the stage, and can perhaps even serve as general tutorials, although not necessarily designed for that purpose. They lead up to the major campaigns. The player can recreate a feel for the American struggle to build an army or to fight with rangers, backwoodsmen and native allies. Or the British to maintain their hold from Canada to the Gulf. Both sides have to manage relations with Spain, France, and the Indian Nations. Supply and terrain effects, and the weather, are all modeled. The victory conditions for the campaigns will not be met quickly for either side. Destroy or corral the enemy armies, yes, but all the colonies and even the backwoods have important locations that must be controlled. There's an interesting naval game. Riverine bateaux, Great Lake ships, and ocean-going ships, merchant and military. The supply and production aspects of the game are impacted by the Atlantic trade. The British have to protect all the sea routes to the Americas. Fleet actions and the vital British and French troop transports are modeled in the game. Another epic aspect of the game is the element of historical accuracy, meshed with options that explore many different possibilities for the way things might have transpired. Thus replayability is huge in We The People. This one witll 'be on the table' for a long time for me. Highly recommended.
Played through several full campaigns as British and Americans and won as both sides with little problem. I appreciate the concept and am glad the developers made a game for this period, but it has numerous gameplay issues that place it in the loaded on my account, but now largely forgettable. The area movement and card system are well done and add flavor to the game much like the GMT board game system, but the AI verges on average to moronic in its tactics and strategy, and there are mechanics issues that bug the game. For example; it is not unusual for units to just be locked in place in good weather and in supply, with no recourse to free them for turns on end and then voila! Suddenly they can move. Sea transport which on numerous occasions the game loses the units, although it shows them as existing when you do a unit search, but it does not have them on a transport. Combat orders to units in supply with leaders that are never executed and no explanation given why. Again, this game is not bad, its just bland, which is unfortunate as I was hoping it would be a worthy successor to AGEOD's Wars in America. It is a pity that I cannot give this game a middle thumb, as it is not deserving of a down-vote, but Steam does not provide that option.
Absolutely love this game. One of the best SGS releases to date. The mix of units and the balance of how to spend resources is mind numbing at times (in a good way). The learning curve is still a bit steep. No details on how supply trains vs depots work (range, number of units, etc). Simply more details on nuances of the game would be very helpful (strategic objectives that influence French and Spanish involvement, etc). It's a home run, but an overall strategy guide and in depth rules system would make it a grand slam...
Ok love it. Nowhere near enough Rev war strat games, and its such a great period. This is one of the good ones, def. Im not into 76 yet (leave it running overnight, hence the hours), but by the end of 75 things are starting to get a little crazy and I am enjoying it a lot. I've just finished "The Glorious Cause" by Jeff Shaara and Im enjoying seeing the characters and places
Game is interesting - but there's a few bugs that frustrate the gameplay experience. I played as the Americans and met the win conditions but the game still continues, even though the British forces have been nearly entirely annihilated on the continent and all the key forts/cities are under American control. Once they fix it so you can actually win the game might be worth a purchase.
