Good old school horror game that's fair, fun and has an interesting storyline. Well, oddly enough, a mostly enjoyable and worthwhile gaming experience. Eleven chapters. Choices determining the different endings of the game. Nice game, decent story. Pure gold for old school horror fans. But if you've ever played a survival-horror game, you've seen all of this stuff before. The only addition to the mix is the school setting and a cast of protagonists. The game might have had charm but pretty standard dialogues go to along with the story. Recommended game for all of indie horror games lovers.

I would have preferred this game to be either a visual novel or allow you to connect the story together through small flashbacks through out the entire game.....where you actually get to play the character. You aren't really allowed to explore much, the game corrals you to a few areas that you can go....so it's kind of hard to get lost.......and then....about 2 thirds of the game....is a long sappy story that takes forever to get through. I'm ALL for visual novels, story rich games, wordy games, etc....but you don't really....CARE about any of these characters. At least I didn't, because you only start to learn them when you get trapped in a flood of repetitive story. The most exciting part of this game was trying to hide from a few guards field of vision....It's not very "scary"....It's somewhat predictable, there are other games out there with a very similar story line. The effects are kind of cool considering its a RPG maker, classic style game...however this was very much a waste of time. I'm sorry To those of you that liked this game, good for you -- and good for the creator, because they need your encouragement to keep making games.... I think whoever made this game has potential---but I would consider this an experimental piece to show off scenes from.
I played the original version of this game (the normal RPG maker one) as well as the other rpgmaker games by this developer a few years ago and enjoyed them. However, when I thought I would enjoy this (after getting it on sale), I was mistaken. The game keeps freezing over and over to the point that it is obnoixous. It's not even the same place every time. I'll reload the game it it will go a few lines further in dialogue and then, boom, another freeze. I'm not even an hour in yet and I'm up EIGHT already. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. I checked the news and patches for the game already to see if that was the problem, and yes I'm on the 2.0 version (which says it fixed those problem; obviously it didn't). To anyone who was still on the fence about buying this one, go to the rpgmaker forums and just download the original version for free. It's not as pretty and the audio isn't as nice, but at least you can actually play it and enjoy it.
There are many things to consider. For an overall experience, I say it does have its impact in terms of atmosphere. The storytelling makes use of some tricks. Visual effects are great. As for the story itself, it seems a bit mediocre to me. Characters remain consistent, but their thinking seems somehow a bit too similar to each other, so I think the characters are not too well-written, or it's just that the story doesn't have enough situations to showcase all their differences. Below is my more detailed evaluation of the different aspects: I'm generally stoic and cannot feel too much emotion. Yet the atmosphere building did get my heart rate to speed up, that is a good effect there. The music was picked carefully and suits the words and atmosphere. Lighting suits the atmosphere well. If anything I dislike, it's the flashing lights at the asylum. They contribute to the atmosphere well, but boy, do they give me headaches. The artwork is just generic RPG maker art, but visual effects are nice. The story is carefully made to avoid holes and things, but the characters do not show too many different traits. The maker did make use of imagery and symbolism, which is smart. The story doesn't leave me with a lasting impact either. It has an impact, but not lasting and not that strong on the stoic me. One thing that may bore the player a little is the information dump at chapter 8 or 9 I forgot. It was just one very long cutscene (at least the maker was considerate enough to put save points in between). That part was long, wordy and had no gameplay. The information does change how the characters are seen, but wordy is still wordy. To me, the maker would have done better if he had make it more concise or broke it out into bits and pieces or many smaller cutscenes throughout the game rather that stuff it all into one scene. Also, that information allows for more depth, but some parts of the cutscene does not truly contribute to plot.
This game isn't very good. The plot is bland and you expect it from the start. It has a clever structure but it doesn't make up for the lacking story. The narration is boring and really never learned to key rule "show don't tell" and it's so bland in tone I cannot get invested. Those are only the story based complaints I have about the game. Technically it's a mess too. It's near impossible to see at times either because it's too bright or too dark. I couldn't explore because I couldn't see much and ended up clicking all over the place to try not to miss anything. And I did. It got to the point were I found myself stuck repeatedly getting the same bad ending and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to change it. I spent a good half hour clicking like hell but still got nowhere. I noticed some people had to restart their game because of issues like this. That's when I realized that I don't even care enough to start again and waste another two hours of my life. The game claims to have choices but I only ever got one and I got stuck with the same bad ending no matter what I chose. This game is a hard pass. All you do is click mindlessly with nothing to engage you in the story or the mechanics. I cannot recommend this game. Find something better that suits the rpg horror genre better.
A nod to old school horror, complete with twisting plots, jump scares, and frightening imagery.

Gameplay
You’re Nathan, a new transfer student that’s equal parts cunning and able to maintain your cool. But there’s one thing that’s bothering you. What’s haunting the school? This horror RPG Maker title is a top down game with 11 chapters, 2 main endings, 4 side endings, and choices that will shape the game. The game for the most part is quite atmospheric, relying on jump scares, loud noises, and frightening imagery of headless students, eye stabbing, and explosions to build upon. And it does this quite well for a short game. It’s an interesting experience and one you have to play through multiple times in order to come full circle. With there being 11 chapters and several side endings, it’s worth it to go through it a few times in order to fully grasp what’s going on just in case you get an ending that doesn't quite feel complete. I got the Fake Ending first time around. I didn’t have much trouble navigating or finding save points so I could reload later and change my choices. The story was compiled so as not to have any plot holes and came neatly together by the end.
Controls
I used an XBox 360 controller for this playthrough and it works just fine. A is to select/interact, joystick and D-pad to move. However, I did find myself having to use my mouse to select the Journal and other menu items. Otherwise, it played just fine.
Graphics/Music
Right off, it’s very eerie looking. The usual RPG Maker sprites look worn and that’s a great aesthetic for an old school horror. The colors are washed out and neutral, which make for a very uneasy experience compounded by the fact the music also plays into the atmosphere. There are times when the music stops and you wonder what will happen. Other times, the music is loud and you’re running for your life. The music played a significant role in maintaining a chilling experience.
Overall
For $4.99, this a really solid indie horror experience that I recommend. It’s a short game, but that helps when you’re trying to get the achievements and the other endings. The story is good, the imagery and symbolism work well, and the overall experience as a horror game is a fantastic one.
If this review/EAR helped you, please give it a thumbs-up. https://youtu.be/xUut13QXKMA Looping with overlapping characters is a strong narrative hook, but also comes at the cost of not getting enough time to care about any individual character's vignette of horror.
Disappointing to be honest, like a lot of games and movies nothing like the feature/clip shown. Very short, kept getting load errors at the end of the game which I had to keep clicking through before Alt/Ctrl/Deleting to get out of it and shut it down. Damn shame as the other reviews had built up my expectations and I do like these games for a change of pace, seriously get it if it's free it's not worth the price other wise sadly.
Writing this review I played both the newer and older (original) versions of the game to make an accurate opinion *. It feels like the charm of the original game was taken away through the new version, a lot more rushed to get to point A-B rather than allow the player to focus on exploring the surroundings and understanding the story in full. I did my best to get through all achievements since I've loved the original game, but eventually the more I played the game, the more uninterested I grew. The story was rather thrust into your hand, It was clear where you had to go, what to do basically and ... That was it, pretty much. I wasn't really a fan of the name changes for the characters, the game would have been better had the characters had their original names - I doubt It would have mattered to the international audience If they had to read Vietnamese names. Name's don't matter as long as you have a good story going on. Was able to discover some differences in story between the two versions, such as
In the original: Linh/"Neal" was blackmailed by the Headmaster, while the remake wanted to treat him like a protagonist in later few chapters and deal with Sang.
It may have been an attempt to show more story with other characters, but as mentioned earlier, I couldn't attach or form interest in many of these remake characters. As other reviews mentioned, bugs are prevalent for this game. Both mobile, steam versions have a constant issue with crashing or not be able to progress without requiring some restarts.
