Probably the worst Serious Sam game, and probably one of the worst games in this specific genre: a roguelike shooter with linear levels, where you select perks, get new weapons, and upgrade/rank them up as you progress. With the release discount, it was around $9. I left it in my basket and ended up buying it after the discount was over, thinking it would still be worth it. Roughly for 10.50 USD But nah. It is horrible. I was born in 2001, and when I was a teenager, around 10 years ago, I played the original Serious Sam games, First Encounter and Second Encounter. Even back then, those games were already around 10–15 years old. And yet, I had way more fun playing them than I am having with this brand-new game. Think about that. A game I played as a teenager, which was already more than a decade old at the time, is still more fun to me than a brand-new Serious Sam game released in 2026. The original game is now roughly 25–26 years old, and somehow, it still does a better job at being fun. And! the old games had some annoying things, especially the save-point locations. Last saves were way too far back, so you had play until you reach where you died and then die there xD (I am a bit hardcore player when comes to these, so I play highest difficulty) Basically, I don't recommend this game, you can just go play other roguelike shooter games. I don't know if it is okey to say another game's name in here, but I can recommend Deadzone Rogue. It has more interesting mechanics and options, rarity + levels of guns and equipment's plus elements and perk combinations. Basically, not worth for 10 USD plus its bad gad game which you should not waste your valuable time, but it's your choice.

The game play of the game itself is fun enough so if your a DIEHARD fan i say give it a go but ive been playing all day havent found a single lobby with more then one other person in it the games dead on arrival they dont let you just host lobbies either. Not to mention i keep running into a "bug" where if i try searching for a game 2-3 times in a row the game tells me ive tried match making too many times and wont let me play online. not to mention none of the "sams" really feel or look like any of the sams we know except retro and even he sucks. not the worst game honestly for 16$ but just left me wanting more
this is probably the blandest roguelike i've ever played
Do yourself a favor and don't buy this game if you're searching for a Serious Sam game.
What only looks like a hour felt like a eternity. Like the core concept of the same i love but i mean one this game is anything but serious sam, Just a really really rough almost alpha build of a serious sam fps roguelike. I really want to love this game but i cant anymore this game is wild it just feels so unfinished as if i purchased a early access game. I mean the game is erratic in its difficulty Imo. I feel like I'm hardly progressing at all compared to other games. The skills and stats cards leave a lot to be desired. Everyone feels like same. So many other issues i cant be bothered to write them all sadly. Its obvious its not going to be fixed.
A review from someone who's played Serious Sam since 2002. Most of the hate needs to be disregarded. There are flaws but the game is definitely fun to play. It feels like a Serious Sam game that is welcoming to a more casual audience while maintaining the relentless difficulty of the mainline games at higher difficulties. Complaining about the highest difficulty is just a skill issue. I've yet to encounter anything in the game that felt unfair. (Edit: After dealing with the solo Shatterverse difficulty hallway of hell (with the Roulette modifier) on the Inverse Sam map.. Yup definite skill issue) The RNG of your intel adds an additional layer that can certainly be frustrating if you don't get a build you want but is nonetheless a fun part of the game that can either make your run a cake walk or a nightmare you need to adapt to. There is some variety for "builds" you can do with the amount of intel cards Each of the Sams are fun to play with each of their ults being useful depending on what you're going for, CC or boss DPS. The trinket system is cool with their set bonuses and random stats. Between upgrading the trinkets, unlocking weapons and upgrading intel, there is definitely a grindy aspect to the game. There definitely needs to be bug fixes, crash fixes, and rebalancing. P2P connections will always be a nightmare. But there is nothing major that makes this game unplayable or unlikeable.
