The game has beautiful grafics. But there is no voiceacting at ALL making the gameplay boring, boring. There was a lot of text and the actors has only stoneface. It was a pitty when it could have been a nice game.
nice but the DLC is only available for Windows.
Ich spiele sehr gerne Wimmelbildspiele, schon seit Jahre, aber dieses ist wirklich nicht gelungen.

Secrets of Salem: The Phantom Cab Collector’s Edition is a story-driven hidden object puzzle adventure developed and published by Do Games Limited. The game combines elements of supernatural mystery, detective fiction, and classic point-and-click puzzle solving to create an atmospheric investigation set in the eerie town of Salem. Players step into the role of Victor Grayson, a determined detective who finds himself caught in a chilling case involving a mysterious black taxi that seems to appear out of nowhere and vanish without leaving a trace. As bodies begin to appear and witnesses report strange sightings tied to this phantom vehicle, the investigation gradually pulls Victor into a world where the line between reality and the supernatural becomes increasingly blurred. The story forms the backbone of the entire experience, unfolding through conversations, discovered clues, and environmental storytelling. Victor begins the investigation with the mindset of a rational detective, but the deeper he digs into the case, the more he encounters events that defy logical explanation. The mystery surrounding the phantom cab becomes even more personal when it begins to connect with Victor’s own past and the disappearance of his brother. Along the way, he partners with Dakota Lovelace, a witch whose knowledge of occult practices and magical forces becomes crucial to understanding the strange occurrences surrounding Salem. Their uneasy partnership introduces an interesting dynamic between logic and mysticism as the two attempt to uncover the truth behind the deadly phenomenon haunting the city. Gameplay follows the familiar structure of hidden object puzzle adventures, a genre that emphasizes exploration, observation, and problem solving. Players move between a series of carefully illustrated environments, searching for hidden items that are required to solve puzzles or unlock new areas of the story. Each scene is packed with visual details and interactive elements that encourage careful examination. Finding objects within these complex environments requires attention to small details, as items may be cleverly concealed among the scenery. These sequences create a sense of discovery while also helping to move the narrative forward as players uncover tools and clues needed to advance the investigation. In addition to hidden object segments, the game offers a wide variety of puzzles and mini-games that provide breaks from searching and add variety to the gameplay. These puzzles range from pattern recognition and mechanical devices to logic challenges and code deciphering tasks. Some require players to manipulate objects within the environment, while others involve solving symbolic riddles tied to the story’s supernatural themes. The puzzles are generally accessible without being overly simplistic, making them satisfying to complete while maintaining a steady pace that keeps the story progressing. The exploration aspect of the game also contributes significantly to its appeal. As the investigation unfolds, players travel through numerous locations across Salem, including shadowy streets, abandoned buildings, occult shops, hidden laboratories, and mysterious underground passages. Each location is designed to reinforce the game’s eerie tone and sense of mystery. The environments often contain subtle visual storytelling elements—objects left behind, strange symbols, or clues about past events—that hint at the darker history surrounding the phantom cab. These details help build the atmosphere and make the city feel like a place with secrets waiting to be uncovered. The Collector’s Edition expands the experience beyond the main storyline by including a variety of additional content. This version typically features a bonus chapter that continues the narrative after the conclusion of the primary mystery, giving players more insight into the characters and the supernatural forces at play. There are also collectibles hidden throughout the game, achievements that reward careful exploration, and a gallery of bonus materials such as concept art and music tracks. These extras add replay value for players who enjoy uncovering every hidden detail within the game’s world. Visually, Secrets of Salem relies on detailed hand-painted environments rather than complex real-time graphics. The scenes are rich with color and intricate details, creating locations that feel both mysterious and atmospheric. Dark alleyways, candle-lit interiors, and eerie magical symbols contribute to the game’s supernatural noir aesthetic. Character models and animated cutscenes are somewhat stylized, but they effectively convey emotion and personality during story moments. The visual design works well for the genre, emphasizing atmosphere and readability over technical realism. Sound design also plays an important role in building the game’s mood. The background music features slow, suspenseful compositions that reinforce the feeling of investigating a dangerous mystery. Subtle environmental sounds—such as creaking doors, distant whispers, and ominous echoes—add an extra layer of immersion to the exploration segments. While the audio design is relatively understated, it complements the visual atmosphere and helps maintain the tension that surrounds the investigation. Despite its strengths, the game does follow many of the established conventions of the hidden object genre. Players who are familiar with similar titles may recognize many of the puzzle structures and gameplay mechanics. The hidden object scenes themselves can become somewhat repetitive over time, especially for players who prefer more dynamic gameplay systems. Additionally, the story progresses in a fairly linear fashion, offering limited freedom in how the investigation unfolds. Even with these limitations, Secrets of Salem: The Phantom Cab Collector’s Edition remains an engaging mystery adventure. Its combination of supernatural storytelling, atmospheric environments, and varied puzzle challenges creates a satisfying experience for players who enjoy narrative-driven puzzle games. The detective narrative, enhanced by occult themes and eerie visuals, provides a strong sense of intrigue that keeps players invested as the mystery gradually reveals itself. Overall, the game stands as a solid example of the hidden object adventure genre. While it does not drastically reinvent the formula, it delivers a well-crafted mystery supported by detailed environments, compelling storytelling, and a steady stream of puzzles. Fans of investigative adventures and supernatural mysteries will likely find the journey through Salem both entertaining and atmospheric. Rating: 7/10
