Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/Yei4QRrc9CU If you want to see the original arcade cabinet of Sea Wolf (1976) you can watch this YT video (not mine, not affiliated): https://youtu.be/ipssJjkN2bY This is a nostalgic underwater submarine wave shooter / bullet hell for VR which was inspired by Midway's Sea Wolf from 1976. You basically hold a submarine in your right hand and a mine shield in your left hand. You can shoot torpedoes or missiles at the 3 enemy types: a slow tanker, a fast moving minesweeper, and underwater enemy subs. There are 10 levels. You have limited ammunition and you have to get a high enough score to proceed to the next. If you fail or if you die, you have to restart from the very beginning level. I was able to get to level 5 in about 17 minutes. However, I did die on my both attempts there. The game is visually pleasing. It also brings back nostalgia (even though I never played Sea Wolf as that is before my time). However, it certainly brought back childhood dreams of wanting to be on an underwater submarine. However, the core gameplay loop is pretty simple. If you compare this game to other wave shooters or bullet hells, then the gameplay here is pretty lackluster. It needs more depth. Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps for the most part. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs. However, there are no settings whatsoever. There's long loading screens before every level. You start the game facing backwards on the Oculus. Game does not save your progress. You have to manually close the game on your windows taskbar as it will keep running in the background. I do think this game is slightly overpriced for what it is. I think it's more of a $5 USD game tops. However, it is a unique game and it does look nice. Therefore, I can give it at least a neutral recommendation. I can see some people enjoying this game more than I did. Rate 5/10.
If you enjoyed my review, please consider joining my Steam Curator Group. SeaWolf VR is a paid VR arcade game where you have a submarine as a gun and you are shooting ships from the seafloor. It worked on my HTC Vive, Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link, system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. If you die, fail or quit you have to start from beginning wave again. You have slow torpedoes, fast rockets, and mines that you use by swatting close in targets. You have Limited ammo so make every shot count. Maybe buy this on sale, might be a good game. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group
Not bad but...
It's got a nice look, a bit of a challenge, but it is slow paced, has some minor bugs, could use some more fun, and does NOT save your progress. The game contains 10 levels with different difficulty, environments, attack formations, limited time and ammo and 3 lives for each level. SeaWolf VR is easy to operate, suitable for all ages and perfect for VR cafes. It's very light on the "sim" but fun and only $3. https://www.subsim.com/seawolf-vr-whats-this-game-all-about/
Puntaje: 2/10 - No Recomendado
