Your aunt’s dead, your cousin hates you, and you’re stuck in the dead-end town of Scarlet Hollow. Choose your path through a branching narrative so dense that you'll see less than 1/5 of the game on a single playthrough. You won't be able to save everyone. Good luck, and welcome home.

About
From the developers of Slay the Princess, Scarlet Hollow is an immersive horror-mystery with sharp writing, impactful choices, and meticulously hand-drawn art.

Coal mines sealed off after a deadly collapse. Strange creatures preying on livestock. Houses infested with vengeful spirits. The sleepy town of Scarlet Hollow has suddenly come alive with horrors, just in time for your arrival. This was supposed to be a quiet getaway in the rural mountains of North Carolina. All you had to do was finally meet your long-lost cousin and comfort her through her mother’s funeral. But now, each new day welcomes new nightmares.
You only have to survive a week. But can you get to the bottom of the horrifying mysteries haunting Scarlet Hollow before they claim your life?
The first five episodes are available now, with one major content update planned before the story reaches its conclusion.
Features
A heavily branching narrative where your decisions (actually) matter. The relationships you forge and the decisions you make will dramatically alter your journey.
A complex paranormal mystery. Investigate haunted houses, strange sightings in the woods, a deteriorating mine, and more as you try and piece together what happened in Scarlet Hollow.
Trait-based dialogue and role-playing. Scarlet Hollow's dialogue system is driven by role-playing elements that let you choose who you want to be. Are you quiet and observant? Hot and clueless? Can you talk to animals? 21 different character builds change how you interact with the world and how your story unfolds.
A dynamic relationship system that reacts to your every choice and changes how your story unfolds. People won't just like or dislike you. Become friendly rivals, bitter adversaries, best friends, or mild acquaintances with everyone in town based on how you approach the story.
Original monster designs inspired by Appalachian myths and cryptids.
No jumpscares. All of the horror in Scarlet Hollow comes from dread, tension, and a sprinkle of disturbing imagery.
A touch of romance. Whether you're into goths, dads, moms, paranormal investigators, mysterious recluses, or actual monsters, you'll find something waiting for you here. And if you'd rather avoid that entirely, your story won't be any less for it.
Hundreds of meticulously hand-drawn and traditionally inked backgrounds. Every background in the game is hand drawn and inked by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.
Fully immersive art. Each major character has dozens—and often hundreds—of hand-drawn sprites that interact with backgrounds and capture a full range of lighting, emotion, environment, and outfit changes.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

One of the best visual novel games I've ever played along with Slay The Princess. It's amazingly heartwarming! Play it! I recommend!
Well, I just wrote a long and detailed review for Scarlet Hollow that got unceremoniously cleared from existence as I was posting it... so this time, I'll try to keep it brief. This game slaps. I picked it up after getting my world rocked by Slay the Princess, just like a lot of other people did. Thus, I expected it to be good -- great, even -- but I didn't expect that it would be such a different kind of experience from StP. For starters, Scarlet Hollow is a HUGE game... with surprisingly deep RPG elements, a relationship system that feels incredibly reactive and organic, and a staggering number of diverging paths and significantly different scenarios/routes you can end up inhabiting. There are quite a lot of romanceable companions/townsfolk in the Holler. There's high-stakes thrills, narrow escapes (if you're lucky), intergenerational curses, psychological horror, witchcraft, mysteries, conspiracies, poignant critiques of predatory capitalism, demon summoning, surrealism, magic realism, phasmids, and slice-of-life. And so, so many opportunities to hang/empathize/chitchat/bond with/feed greasy peanuts to just about every variety of critter you can imagine. The replay value here is immense. I've played it so many times and I'm still discovering new scenes, choices, and trait combinations that unlock even more unique scenes/dialogue/consequences. It's inspiring to see such a tiny development team pull off "choices matter", player agency-centered gameplay better than the overwhelming majority of rpg genre veteran studios with huge budgets. I love everything about this title, and the experience I'm STILL being afforded through it -- from the very first moral dilemma of the game (ie selecting only two character traits, when each of them offers so much that I legitimately struggle each new playthrough to decide what I'm most willing to miss out on. The Speaks with Animals trait, in particular, is one I really miss when it's not there) to the moody and atmospheric soundtrack... from the unique, detailed artwork to the way Scarlet Hollow's townsfolk feel like living, breathing people... If you enjoy VNs/Narrative titles and RPGs with lots of branching paths and meaningful game reactivity -- lots of dialogue, scenes, and consequences that only 1% of people playing the game will ever see -- then this one's for you. I'd urge anybody who's remotely curious about this game to pick it up. It's an absolute gem. ... I guess the second iteration of this review didn't end up being so brief after all. I could keep going, but you're better off spending your time playing this game than listening to me gush about it ;)
.
I didn’t want Scarlet Hollow to end. The writing is solid, the atmosphere works really well, and your choices actually matter in a way that feels noticeable. It’s the kind of game that sticks with you a bit after playing. I definitely want more games like this. Highly recommend.
i'm such a sucker for story-rich games, and this did NOT disappoint, the replayability is so fun, i'm hooked EDIT: after completing the game i can confidently say this was PEAAK, seriously! there's so many different possibilities, it wowed me every time an entirely different scene would occur just through one different dialogue option.. i'm really glad i chose now to get into it, as episode 5 definitely had a lot to offer! its all really good!!
an addictive visual novel game with skilfully woven dialogue choices. I started watching a stream of the game and had to buy it so I could choose something different!
