Your aunt’s dead, your cousin hates you, and you’re stuck in the dead-end town of Scarlet Hollow. Choose your path through a branching narrative so dense that you'll see less than 1/5 of the game on a single playthrough. You won't be able to save everyone. Good luck, and welcome home.

About
From the developers of Slay the Princess, Scarlet Hollow is an immersive horror-mystery with sharp writing, impactful choices, and meticulously hand-drawn art.

Coal mines sealed off after a deadly collapse. Strange creatures preying on livestock. Houses infested with vengeful spirits. The sleepy town of Scarlet Hollow has suddenly come alive with horrors, just in time for your arrival. This was supposed to be a quiet getaway in the rural mountains of North Carolina. All you had to do was finally meet your long-lost cousin and comfort her through her mother’s funeral. But now, each new day welcomes new nightmares.
You only have to survive a week. But can you get to the bottom of the horrifying mysteries haunting Scarlet Hollow before they claim your life?
The first five episodes are available now, with one major content update planned before the story reaches its conclusion.
Features
A heavily branching narrative where your decisions (actually) matter. The relationships you forge and the decisions you make will dramatically alter your journey.
A complex paranormal mystery. Investigate haunted houses, strange sightings in the woods, a deteriorating mine, and more as you try and piece together what happened in Scarlet Hollow.
Trait-based dialogue and role-playing. Scarlet Hollow's dialogue system is driven by role-playing elements that let you choose who you want to be. Are you quiet and observant? Hot and clueless? Can you talk to animals? 21 different character builds change how you interact with the world and how your story unfolds.
A dynamic relationship system that reacts to your every choice and changes how your story unfolds. People won't just like or dislike you. Become friendly rivals, bitter adversaries, best friends, or mild acquaintances with everyone in town based on how you approach the story.
Original monster designs inspired by Appalachian myths and cryptids.
No jumpscares. All of the horror in Scarlet Hollow comes from dread, tension, and a sprinkle of disturbing imagery.
A touch of romance. Whether you're into goths, dads, moms, paranormal investigators, mysterious recluses, or actual monsters, you'll find something waiting for you here. And if you'd rather avoid that entirely, your story won't be any less for it.
Hundreds of meticulously hand-drawn and traditionally inked backgrounds. Every background in the game is hand drawn and inked by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.
Fully immersive art. Each major character has dozens—and often hundreds—of hand-drawn sprites that interact with backgrounds and capture a full range of lighting, emotion, environment, and outfit changes.

Reviews
The game has so many twists and turns; no playthrough is the same. The art direction absolutely is amazing, the music is perfect for the atmosphere, and it's got genuinely interesting and complex characters (no one is perfect and everyone can become better or worse as a result of your actions). There is also a ton of attention to detail: dialogue, observations, etc. And even with the intense plotline, the game is funny.
so much fun, story is amazing

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Wow, I love this game. If you want to feel like every choice you make matters, get to know a bunch of weird and wonderful (or not so wonderful) characters, and learn to hate your entire bloodline while wrestling with questions about the responsibility of your generation: highly recommend. Kaneeka I would do anything to make you smile.
this game is everything a game with a "choices matter" tag should be. i would honestly say that i've never played a game where the choices, even the smallest ones, mattered THIS much in a very visible way and it's super satisfying! it's incredibly interesting to go back on repeat playthroughs and see how the effects of your decisions ripple throughout the story, and i only have 84 out of the roughly 200ish achievements. not only that, but the characters feel very alive, "remembering" small things i've said or mentioned even in passing. i am absolutely in love with this game and its story and i can't wait for the next content updates! (i just want my cousin to not hate me sob)
theres a goku achievement
This is a spectacularly written, well-paced and beautifully executed game. The dialogue is stellar, and the plot is complex and engaging. Every character feels rounded and well-loved, no matter how small. Be aware that there are hard choices, but that taking them makes for a compelling story.
This horror VN is a masterpiece! the OST, the art style, the choices and branching, and Reese (I am down bad for this man, haha) And the writing—god, I got immediately hooked, and I am DYING waiting for the full game to release. I absolutely love the trait system and how it allows you to have exclusive choices and outcomes in certain episodes. (My favorite is Mystical; it is so ominous, and some of the mystical choices make you sound like you go into a trance or get possessed) Anyway, if you like choices having lasting consequences, a creepy atmosphere, some mystery, and ominous stuff, definitely go for it! You won't regret it! (Plus, you get to choose your pronouns, so you can self-insert, haha ) Thank you Abby , Tony and the whole team for this game I will never forget this amazing experience even when the game will be over :)
Really awesome "choose your own adventure" style visual novel. The art is stunningly FANTASTIC. Hand drawn and gorgeous. The music is atmospheric, and perfect for the setting. The amount of possibilities, and hijinks that can occur is kind of hard to grasp. This is a game for monster ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people who are kind of weird and off putting, but yearn in their hearts. Abby Howard is a LEGEND
lovely.
One of the best horror VNs I've ever played. 10/10
