We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

An amazing game that is being developed by a single person! The influx on poor reviews does NOT reflect the game or the gameplay, and its frankly unfair. This is, as previously stated, being worked on by one person who has a life outside of this and is working hard to make a fun, enjoyable and complete game! This is a game I always come back to. There are so many different ways to play and I'm looking forward to future updates and will be sticking around to the end! If you like colony sims with tech advancements and resource management, this will def be for you!!
why do seeds exist if there is options for stuff like sea level on world creation? world creation options arent as clear btw. so much game mechanics that i dont want to care for, you pick a tribe and take care of everything they do their hunger etc, maybe this sort of game isnt for me, but the game crashed twice while i was just at tutorial anyways. music is odd and out of place. R.I.P The Blockheads, which was better than this game, recently opened an apk of the app and tried expert mode, the unreasonably hard crafting recipes and level locks on workbench, along with music was a good indicator that the dev would make something like this in the future

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 21: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

One month left until a year since the dev's last communication on steam. Over a year since the last content update. Consider this abandoned. EDIT: I had to go to the discord to see a big emotional post in February, about many things but essentially it sounds like he's strapped for cash due to personal reasons and earlier decisions before Sapiens, apparently working on a new programming language? What? Anyways they said the new conflict update was coming soon. Obviously that was incorrect. Here's a snippet of the post on 2/22/26: "The world has changed, the market for Sapiens is shrinking, and will likely disappear within a decade no matter what I do. But I have come to terms with this, and I’ll keep working on it anyway. My goal is still to get Sapiens to 1.0, and for it to be a great game when it gets there, that hasn’t changed, and will not, I feel very strongly about that, it’s a part of me. The devlogs, the marketing, the Steam posts, and even my posts here have all slowed and will continue to be pretty low key from now. I’m not in this for the money or the hype. But I am still thinking about Sapiens all the time, I’m still working on it, the conflict update will be out quite soon, and I expect another update later this year too." So the most recent communication on discord was 8/20/26: "Hello! Yes sorry, I have been away for too long. I’ll post a proper update soon. It’s not all bad news, I will be back and working on Sapiens again, just not yet. I got burnt out basically, and needed a long break after all these years on one project. But I’m still very motivated generally and working hard. I will come back and finish this game. It’s very important to me. I just have something I need to do first." Hope this helps anyone looking at this and wondering if it's really dead. I'm chucking it into the EA purgatory bin personally.
Sapiens doesn't just offer you a box of building blocks. It allows 3 axis of rotation and clipping so you can build exactly what you want. This game is really great and it is NOT abandoned. It doesn't deserve to be review bombed over new updates being slow by those who haven't even played long enough to have seen all the current content that this amazing game has to offer.
Game was very meh to begin with, but has now been abandoned. You should just pass on this one. As you can see, I haven't even played it in a long time waiting for more to happen. But now...it won't.
Developer just abandoned the game because he got project wanderlust, and his statement to the community regarding it was "Sorry if you expected more". When other devs wonder "Why are players so reluctant to buy into early access projects now" this is why.
Amazing game! The dev is super active on discord and is always addressing bugs and feedback! Can't wait to see what else in in store for this gem! The feeling of growing a small tribe over time, while improving your technology and the lifestyle of your tribe, is wonderful! I honestly can't even imagine what else the game would need to release into 1.0, it already feels complete
Sad this game was left unfinished. What is this? One of my let's play series? ;)
post from developer copy pasted below. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME AS HE HAS FKD IT OFF AND TRIED TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE ITS A BREAK. Hi everyone, For the past few months, I haven’t been working on Sapiens, and the time has come to talk about that. Sapiens development is now on hold temporarily. I will return some time next year. I still very much intend to release 1.0, and then continue to add to Sapiens for the rest of my life. You’ve all seen the roadmap, we know what is planned in the game, and none of that has changed. The game is not abandoned, it’s a solid early access title. It just has a very long development timeframe. OK, but why the pause? For context, I have been working on Sapiens as my main full time project for around 11 years now. I was working on the conflict update last year, and it was coming together, you can play the current state of it on the unstable branch. But I hit a wall when I realized how fun conflict will actually be when it is complete. Yes you did read that right, it is shaping up to be a really fun update, but I can sense how much it is teasing at what’s coming next. It isn’t done, I can’t release it without finishing it properly. And rather than get excited about that, I felt dread. I couldn’t do it. I saw 4-6 months of hard work to get conflict where I wanted, and I didn’t have the energy to do it. This is not a new thing, I have hit motivation issues just like this in the past. So I did what I always do, I worked on a few side projects, took some time out. And I’m good now, I’m working as hard as ever, making great progress. But I got distracted while working on my side projects, one of them became my new main project. It’s not all bad news though. My new project is Blockheads 2. This will be very exciting for Blockheads players, but it should also provide hope for Sapiens players. I have returned to The Blockheads, and I will return to Sapiens. I am sorry to anyone who has bought Sapiens expecting something beyond what they have got so far. But I am also sorry to the hundreds of Blockheads players who have emailed me over the years begging for an update. This is the right thing to do. Apple will do something to break backwards compatibility soon and The Blockheads will be lost. That can’t happen. I need to rebuild Blockheads on a new platform to keep it alive, before returning again to carry on with Sapiens and The Blockheads together. At the end of the day, Sapiens and The Blockheads are made by one man on his laptop in rural New Zealand. I don’t do this for money or fame, I do it because it brings me pleasure to make other people happy. Right now I can make a lot more people happy by working on Blockheads, and that will make me happier too. So it makes sense for me to do that. I love Sapiens. It is far from done, and I have a solid plan to keep adding to it for years. Thank you again for your support, I will be back. Dave ♥♥♥♥ off dave you scammer
Not Recommended – Another Prime Example of Failed Early Access With floury words, the developer is trying to mask the obvious: the project is being put on hold while he moves on to his next game. * Delayed Transparency: The last update was back on October 7, 2025. He didn't just pause development now—he kept the community in the dark for nearly a full year before finally admitting it. * Unrealistic Claims: The claim of working on this full-time for 11 years feels completely unrealistic given the current state of the game. * "Not in it for the money"? If you truly don't care about the money, be consistent and offer refunds to buyers when you abandon development indefinitely after a year of silence. * Abusing Early Access: Unfortunately, this developer fits right in with those who exploit Early Access to release an unfinished game and then jump to the next project at the first sign of motivation issues. A massive disappointment and a bad look for the entire industry. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this developer in the future, leave a negative review, and report this behavior to the platform. Do not buy.
