(Played a bunch of the demo so I feel very confident leaving a review already.) Sandy's Great Escape is a beautiful looking and sounding puzzle game with an impressive amount of mechanical variety and depth in its puzzle design. I don't usually care for Sokoban games much but perfecting each level is so compelling, and quickly gets pretty dang challenging. The writing (including Crab Facts!), Sandy's costumes, and just the general vibe and attention to small details gives the game so much character and creates a fun vibe that makes it easy to play for a long time. Check it out!
This game is adorable and fun! The puzzles are great and get challenging quickly, especially if you're trying to get three coins on all the levels. I am currently dressed up as a witch crab 11/10
A "Crab"-tivatingly Brilliant Puzzle Game!
Sandy's Great Escape is an absolute must-buy, hidden-gem of a puzzle game. The pixel art is phenomenal, the puzzles are well-designed, the sound effects are fantastic and the game is absolutely oozing with passion from the developer. I enjoyed this game so much I played it nonstop until 100% completion. If I had anything to gripe with, it would be the music, it is a tad too repetitive so I turned it off but afterwards everything was just fine. I give Sandy's Great Escape a 9.5/10 and urge you to play it ASAP! P.S If this game ever gets trading cards and badges I would SO craft them and display them on my profile!
For those who are used to play sokoban games, this game features some very challenging puzzles.
A Truly Crabtastic Game
I wanna start by saying I almost had no desire for puzzle games before Sandy's great escape. I rarely sought out puzzle games and most of the time I only ended up slightly enjoying them. However, Sandy's great escape made me appreciate not only the genre of Sokoban but puzzle games as a whole.
A Shrimple but great time:
Sokoban games from a glance might seem easy but the fun of the genre comes in when you have to work around the restrictions the game presents you. Sandy does this wonderfully by consistently adding fun and new gimmicks for the player to interact with that all can change how you tackle a level! Not one gimmick feels outta place, all serve a purpose and fit within the game's restrictive puzzle design
The art/music are fintastic:
The art and music are beautiful and really help make this game stand out in the puzzle and Sokoban genre. Even just looking at the game aside from comparing it to other games in its genre it's just a nice game to look at and listen to. Truly amazing work
In Conchclousion:
Sandy's Great Escapee is a wonderful game that any fan of these genres should get a kick out of. And even if you're not the best at puzzle games like I am there's still a lot to love here! Thank you to the developers (which there were only 2!?) for making this amazing game. I can't wait to see what other games they make next.
It's full of personality and has you saying, "I got it!" a little too loud. Plus, high scores are rewarded with crab facts. What's not to love?
A very well made game, both in terms of design and aesthetic. The last levels of each world are incredibly hard though, expecting you to figure out really long sequences and specific steps, but overall the game is enjoyable all the same.
no thoughts, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Great puzzle game. And you learn about crabs
Cute, but challenging puzzle game + decent price + responsive dev = what more could you ask for?!
Sandy's is an absolute gem of the sokoban genre, stretching normal block-pushing gameplay with a variety of unique tiles that continuously change the way the player must approach each level. From unlocking crab facts to the gachapon machine filled with adorable costumes, every ounce of this game drips with the thought and care put into it. The music is catchy but stays out of the way, the art is spectacular, and the puzzles are mindbending and satisfying to solve. Highly recommend this game for any puzzle lovers out there! Would make a great first video game for someone new to games in general.
