Very fun soulslike game, it's long enough for a satisfying first playthrough but short enough to be able to speed through it on future playthroughs if you know what you're doing. The mechanics are surprisingly fleshed out, giving you more freedom than you might expect, and provides a mostly fair challenge as you progress. Definitely recommend it for any fan of the genre, especially at the price point. There is a surprising amount of build diversity, even though each category only has a few weapons there are various choices and you can usually specialize based on your skill spread or gameplay preferences. They are all relatively balanced amongst each other, obviously some are better than others but it doesn't feel like anything is completely useless. Even daggers are viable through the end of the game. Armor has much less diversity though, you have a split between light and heavy armor that both require skill investment but for the most part there are only very minor differences among them. An upgraded robe from the start of the game will be better than any other light armor you find for the rest of the game, unless you also upgrade those for a minuscule increase. You could consider this a good thing, as there is little downside for prioritizing fashion over function. The story and world-building are pretty typical for the genre, there is a vague existential threat that consumes people and either drives them insane or leaves them as amnesic husks. You are the protagonist that is ostensibly the same as the rest of them, but obviously works their way up to defeat the big bad and provide salvation or ruin for the land. You meet some interesting characters along the way, and the setup for everything is paced well. The physical world is very reminiscent of dark souls 1, where you have varying biomes that are all interconnected through many loops and shortcuts. My only real issue is that there is no in-game map, and you don't even get to see the name of the location you are currently in. It makes fast travel from sanctuaries a bit annoying until you memorize the entire game map. The difficulty is mostly spread out pretty well; you are introduced to various types of enemies that test different skills and make sure you don't get carried by cheesing the same thing through the entire game. In many cases, it does feel like it is entirely your fault when you die and that it could have been avoided. However, the controls are a little bit clunky, especially with heavier weapons, which can lead to some frustration from time to time. The hitboxes for larger enemies can be a bit silly due to the fact that they push you away from their "center" point, meaning some really large bosses can prevent you from rolling away from an attack or getting close enough to hit them because you keep getting pushed away from where you are trying to move. There are thankfully only a few instances of this though. For a few other noteworthy things: the game looks really beautiful. The game world is mostly 2D, but uses the foreground and verticality very cleverly to get as much value out of it as they can. The way that brands are spread out encourages exploration, backtracking, memorizing secrets, etc. Unfortunately, inventory management can get rather annoying, especially in ng+ and onwards, because there is no real way to sort it aside from manually dropping things and picking them back up
Fait en 2026 pour la 1ère fois, je me suis régalé, le système RPG est excellent le jeu est vraiment bon !
The biggest gripe I have about an otherwise pretty damn fun game is that there are basically no explanations for anything ever. You really need to rely on a wiki for the game to work out some of the basics and explain things. Also, no map. A map, a map, my kingdom for an ingame map. BUT it is a very fun game and while it is difficult, it's not crazy insane hard for me at this point.
music is top-notch
Скажу как есть - мне не понравился как и оригинальный Dark Souls так и его 2D версия в виде Salt and Sanctuary
