The gameplay is basically 2D Mario but really slow and clunky. Mechanics that are supposed to be helpful end up causing more deaths than helping. The difficulty is absurd and unfair, causing players to start whole levels or sections over when they don't deserve it. The Assist Mode compromises the difficulty and makes the game playable, but doesn't help the poor gameplay. The visuals and music are appealing. There is a 2-Player mode, but it's turn-based. Overall, wouldn't recommend this to a friend.
Very solid platformer which takes me back to the heyday of Mario flash games. It doesn't reinvent the wheel in the genre but the level design is decent and it introduces cool new gimmicks throughout. The main campaign was alright, I don't really see any incentive to not use assist mode though and in my opinion it makes the campaign a lot more enjoyable with it turned on. Regardless, the game shines in the extra content. The missions are fun and provide more depth to the levels and the speedruns are really fun to route and pull off. It's a shame though that the game got buried in new releases as the leaderboards are completely empty. Overall, I'd recommend checking the game out if you're looking for a decent Mario-inspired platformer.
Quick Score: 3/5 Notes: Game is just okay. I dont really like the movement very much, it controls pretty much the same as classic mario bros, but somehow even slower and clunkier. And also all of the challenges involving the bombs falling from the sky are incredibly annoying, because the run button and grab bomb button are the same. Everything else in the game is......decent. took about 34 hours to get "100%"
Didn't have a ton of time to play the game unfortunately, but what I did get to play was alright. I mean it controls pretty well, has nice and colorful graphics, and has music that suits the levels rather well. I definitely did have fun playing it! And the overall premise and the narrative of the game is pretty cool too. It's just... weirdly "dark" for a Mario clone. Not dark as in a creepypasta, this isn't something like Omegaland. It's dark as in... "Wow, this is kinda depressing huh?". But unfortunately outside that, it feels just like yet another Mario clone, one that doesn't stand out in any other major way. The level design especially feels kind of bland at times, even though there are some decent ideas here and there. It's also quite difficult I suppose, but that difficulty doesn't always feel fair. Thank god there's an assist mode because in later worlds it feels like it's almost required, this game does not ♥♥♥♥ around. I dunno, I guess it might be worth giving a shot if you're into games like this, and you can clearly tell that quite a bit of effort was put into it, so that's something for sure. It just doesn't do much to stand out, which is a shame.
Solid old-school platformer with fairly difficult levels. There are also public speedrun leaderboards as well as extra missions which allow you to replay each level of the main campaign with additional conditions like "your character is constantly jumping" or "don't kill any enemies". Overall a fun game.
This platformer is no joke, I was hard-filtered by 3-3. Shi really needs to look into work from home.
Are you a bad enough dude to get to work? This game is "fun" in the same way that Dwarf Fortress is. Fans of Kaizo Mario will be very pleased. I haven't felt this pandered to in 15 years. The first special mechanic the game teaches you is how to throw a bouncing suitcase and jump off it to extend your range. I was instantly hooked, as it reminds me of attempting to climb a wall of fish in an old romhack called Mario Adventure.
it's-a me, wagie mario
A cute and deceptively tough Mario World clone. It's not without its flaws, sliding jumps lock your air control, there's a good number of off screen gotchas that you'll always die to the first time, and one of the mid-game bosses is an absolute terror that's tougher than every other one by a mile. Fun game otherwise, the briefcase gimmick is used sparingly but is fun, there's a lot of content for speedrunners and a mission mode with a bunch of extra goals that change up how levels play.
