S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl tells a story about survival in the Zone – a very dangerous place, where you fear not only the radiation, anomalies and deadly creatures, but other S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, who have their own goals and wishes.

This game has taught me that drinking vodka cures radiation poisoning, I will be testing this irl, wish me luck lads.
Welcome to the zone, Stalker. The first of the original stalker trilogy. Followed by Clear Sky and Call Of Pripyat. The one that ignited the flame. Now, what's so special about it? What's so cool about this 19 year old (at the time of writing) game? A-Life, NPCs living out their lives and doing goal-oriented tasks for their survival. Which goes for both humans and mutants. Atmosphere, the zone's grim reality really shines through the 2007 visuals alongside the audio design and ambient tracks. Gameplay isn't anything revolutionary for today's standards but it coupled with A-Life makes fighting NPCs actually a challenge. To use an example: one of my favourite moments is when I was clearing out an underground area, I had killed most of the bandits apart from 1. He did not just yell and run at me with his weapon, no. He crouched completely still in a dark corner making NO sound waiting for me to move into the room where they shot me in the head killing me instantly. It also jumpscared me which was funny lol. The story isn't something that I found myself too interested in initially but I'd say it does get better as you play through the trilogy. This does not mean it's bad but rather it wasn't a focus of mine. Still, there's many memorable characters and their lines which stuck even to this day. Now that I'm done "Get out of here, Stalker!"
Really one of the most unique expiriences you will ever have. I played it over 15 years ago and i just played it again. The attention to detail is incredible! There is something for everyone here. On to the Clear Sky! 10/10 for Shadow of Chernobyl
So not only is it unlisted, but also increased to be the same as "enhanced" edition. Making it unlisted is apparently the work 20 bucks per copy now or what? Honestly, gaming is just getting more downhill when they think how they can make their previous entrys worse by doing ♥♥♥♥ like this.
This is the first game in the Stalker tetralogy, I am writing this review as while i am in the finishing stages of CS. SOC has changed the way I look at videogames and my taste as a whole. The game is old and it has its bugs but its style is still very nice, the story is great and the gunplay is decent. A completely 10/10 game that will recommend to anyone :)
This game is absolutely However, I did
Maybe my new favorite game of all time. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SOC is to sum it up, the more depressing Ukrainian version of fallout. If you like fallout but you want something more challenging and more atmospheric then this is the game for you. What i like: The enemies are really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scary and they look cool as ♥♥♥♥ The story is really good The guns look cool The atmosphere is amazing The graphics are pretty good imo (for it being 19 years old) What i don't like: Can be buggy (granted it is 19 years old) It can be pretty hard (tbf i played at the highest difficulty) Overall 10/10 game
