Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.57/day in the week to Aug 10 → 8.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

finished Hotel and now Roots. i think this game is way more interesting than the first one, but can't blame Hotel since it doesn't have as much as this game does. so far: Rusty Lake Hotel: 9.5 Rusty Lake Roots: 9.8 why not a 10? because i had to restart the game for The Date achievement and i couldn't play in fullscreen.
I am not sure why it took me this many years to finally start playing the games in this series. Every single one I've played so far has been very good and well worth my time and money. I decided to treat myself during the last summer sale and picked up the entire collection, and I am very glad I did. Absolutely no regrets. I am playing them in the official recommended order. The stories and plot starting with the Cube Escape collection were intriguing if not confusing at times, often leaving me with more questions than answers. Each game/chapter is like a small piece of the story that slowly comes into focus the further you progress. With Rusty Lake Roots I feel like so much was finally revealed, and I found myself unable to stop playing as I became increasingly invested. All of the games in the series are related in some way, even with extra secrets revealed between them if you are observant. At the core of these games are the puzzles, which are so well-designed and thoughtful. The most challenging ones were ones where the objective wasn't very clear to me, and I'll admit I actually needed some hints at some points for figuring out what to do. Once I understood the "rules" each puzzle made sense and I was able to solve it after some time. My gaming desk is full of random scraps of paper with scribblings from this game. I am a big fan of this genre and I have to say this series is definitely one of the best ones out there. I absolutely recommend this game as well as the the entire series.
Roots was the game that blew up and made the series big, and Steam has been recommending it to me for basically a decade now. Fittingly, this was also the studio's first full-length, paid release. Coming off the earlier games that made me both excited and nervous that I wouldn't like it. But I loved it. I was worried at first since the first few vingettes were crazy simple and I was like, "Oh no, did saying they'd shored up their puzzle design actually just mean making everything stupid basic?" but luckily this was just the tutorial section and I really liked the puzzle design overall. I just really loved it! I love how weird it is, how careful, how the pistol on the mantle is always fired. I love how judicious it is with its weirdness, all the ah-ha moments, the way the story is just coherent enough to be compelling without losing that feeling of never quite knowing what's going on. I just really like these games and the way they're put together, and I'm glad to see that the team could so successfully move their formula into a longer-form piece. This is a crappy review, but sorry! I just like these, I don't have anything constructive to say about them. I probably won't do writeups about the following games in the series and will just soak them in.
官方开发者的回复非常关键: “We are aware of point 1. It wasn’t the first time they went to Rusty Lake.”
