Not terrible, but not great either...a good game with some issues. "Tides of Destiny" or "Oceans" as it is also called is the much better 3d game. Many people also claim that RF 4 is also better, allthought that one is not 3d. This game has many good things you will enjoy, but there are also some issues that could be fixed easily but are ignored sadly. Taming the monsters - it is freaking useless in most cases, there are just a few monsters people (have to) tame, some are fast so you can ride them, some are strong and help you fighting, but there are not many monsters dropping materials. In "Oceans" every monster had it´s own harvest or drop you could also check in the menu easily, here you have 100 monsters wich are not worth the fodder and the only way to find out is trial and error. Wood and stone - you need way too much of it to upgrade the village (they call it a "town" but come on) Upgrading the hammer and axe unlike in similar games does not do anything of worth, it allways takes forever to get these materials and the game wants you to collect thousands of them. Not a problem for people just enjoying some free time, but for completionists it is hell. Stupid Recipe system - while you can emperiment and "guess" new weapons, food or gear the normal way of learning new stuff is by buying bread and eating it (you heard it). Problem is, you can only buy 4 pieces daily (and these are specific - cook bread or weapon bread for example) and sometimes if your level is not high enough you can´t even learn new stuff. What you learn is also random, wich means you could (and will) learn some endgame stuff you can´t create yet while waiting another day for a recipe that might be usefull at your current lv. TL,DR the short version - It is (still) an ejoyable game I recommend, but it has some issues and other games in this series might be the better option for newcomers.
Great game and very addictive, My second favorite from the rune factory series.
Great character designs. Enjoying easy mode.
I will say that this is probably far from the best Rune Factory game I've played, but it still makes for a good farming adventure game. I played mostly on switch which had horrible performance. The PC version is actually playable. If you are new to Rune Factory and are used to Stardew-Valley-like farming sims, you will find that this has more depth in certain areas. It has deep crafting systems like cooking, and weapon making with plenty of recipes to discover. It also has an explicit main plot with quests and associated dungeons/bosses to fight. The game still has a slow pace since it is important to build your crafting skills to have better stats as the difficulty of enemies ramps up. Characters are pretty cute and interesting so it's nice that none of the romances are gender-locked like previous game entries (we're talking 2013 and before). If you like anime English dubs, you'll recognize some top of the line voice actors. Murakumo (dateable) is voiced by Jinshi's VA from Apothecary Diaries. Even so, other Rune Factory games do almost all of these things better. Check out Rune Factory 4 Special or even Guardians of Azuma.
