Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection

WARNING BEFORE YOU BUY! If you press R3 and save on the title screen of the game you're playing, you will be permanently locked out of your save file, as hitting "Load Game" will simply take you to the save state you just made on the title screen, locking you out of your save. The "Save Game" function in each game is replaced with a singular save state that it loads, which is shared with the R3 save feature. Just lost half of my progress to this. A huge oversight that needs to be fixed... Severe lack of options; - Windowed mode or full screen mode. - Resolution options... setting it to 4:3 cuts the bottom off, stretched looks really bad (especially since absolutely nothing has been done to the textures or picture quality) so you're going to be playing on full, which is the default setting. - There's a CRT filter and a total of 3 border presets to replace the black bars on the sides of the screen. That's it. I'm also concerned that they're emulating the PAL releases of Search for Reptar/Paris, which run at 25fps as opposed to 30fps. Unfortunately the game doesn't make it very clear what version of the game you're playing on, nor do you get the option to choose between N64 or PS1. Paris in particular is very bad as it looks blurry and still has tank controls. The rewind feature allows you to undo a very restricted amount of gameplay... I've seen it done a lot better in other titles unfortunately, it feels quite limited here. Not to mention the games are quite easy so it's very rare that you're going to need to use it. There are no options to change controller interface (Xbox button layout only) And for some reason listening to "Chuckie Chan" from the music box in Rugrats in Paris crashes the game. Overall a bit disappointed... I get these are straight emulated versions, but there was an opportunity to do something a bit more with these games, especially considering they're almost 30 years old! Not really worth buying in their current state, even if you're absolutely desperate to replay them. Hoping for some fixes/additions in the future because I think this collection has a lot of potential. Will adjust review if changes are made and patches improve the experience, but in an age where everything is getting remastered collections, this one is severely lacking.

How do you ♥♥♥♥ this up? All you did was play a rom on a emulator and you still ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up. Cutscenes are broken, running in maybe 1fps. The audio is crazy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loud, and only some of it can be turned down. Edit: about 3/4 of the button prompts are wrong too.

The game plays horribly on AMD. It's just like the Gex Trilogy, and needs to be patched immediately. The beginning cutscene opens fine, everything runs smooth. As soon as I select Studio Tour, game immediately tanks and runs at like less than half the speed. Audio is grating and horrible. I'm testing this on Steam Deck but until it's patched, I'm putting this as a no because there's zero reason why it should run like this. Edit: Runs fine on OLED Steam Deck. I beat studio tour on steam deck and had a blast, since child me was too dumb to do it. Would recommend if steam deck user. Or nvidia.

Just as I remember on the Playstation. This is another Limited run release with the games running on a Playstation Emulator. No true widescreen but the games play just fine. Supports cloud saves so you can go back and forth from PC to Steam Deck. The Playstation games are fun just keep in mind they are easy. Update. I played all through Search for Reptar and the emulation is really bad. Glitches that did not exist on original hardware or heck even full emulation on a PS3 or Duck Station. I support games being re released but they need to run as good or better than original hardware that is over 30 years old. I still recommend this as there is fun to be had. I will play Studio tour and In paris and make any updates if they play better.

this is kind of a low effort collection of games that are mostly bad? there's nothing massively wrong with it i have a couple gripes with the specifics of the emulation, there's minor visual issues in a few places but it's not like, a Bad way to play these games or anything it's just kinda why bother I guess. if you're very staunchly a console only gamer or just do not want to bother with emulation then like yeah. it works. it's not super expensive. it's just not super exciting is all. Limited Run Games releases don't really aspire to anything more than the bare minimum here and they do mostly hit that minimum at least. it's really weird they don't include the front cover scans of the box art for what I assume is legal reasons?

It's a downgrade from all the original versions! It looks like garbage! Especially Rugrats in Paris! The whole thing also runs terribly! I was super excited about this but it's just pure disappointment! such a let down!

I love Search for Reptar and even Studio Tour but the time I've been playing Search for Reptar on this has been the worst I've ever experienced it. It runs like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I can't imagine Studio Tour runs any better. Limited Run Games needs to be studied in how they release stuff so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and take forever to patch ♥♥♥♥. This happened with Tomba 1 AND Tomba 2 btw.

◎ - Emulation seems to work great △ - There is minor graphical mesh issues that are also present in the original along the walls of the house in some places in Reptar's Revenge - The select the game menu doesn't show release dates for the games so you have to know the order if you want to play them based on when they released. - They include the box arts and manuals which is nice but they are annoyingly in their own section of the menu instead of being selectable from the games themselves and the box arts aren't even titled to what game they are, they are just numbered. × - No support for 5120 x 1440p. This game forces 2560 x 1440p while in full screen so I can only play this game in windowed mode. And in windowed mode there is a bright white bar at the top of the window that is annoying. And when I launch the game, the window opens off to the side of my monitor instead of the center so I have to manually drag it. - Trying to return to the main menu to choose a game from Reptar's Revenge and maybe all of the games seems either be not possible or I couldn't find it. Overall: They delayed this game and it sounds like they should have delayed it 5 minutes longer because something as simple as the resolution should be an easy fix in the configurations yet it's still broken.

I loved playing Search for Reptars mini golf activity on the Playstation 1 as a kid, nice trip down memory lane. I personally have had no performance issues in what I've played so far. Game runs nice.

Are these good games? No. Am I glad this exists? Yes. Does it have Totally Angelica? No. Did I 100% all the achievements anyway? Yes. Did I use passwords on the Gameboy games because they are awful to play? Yes. Did I use the rewind feature on Studio Tour to cheese getting the right key hole first time. Yes. Was I afraid of Search for Reptar's basement Mr Friend level when I was a kid. Yes. Yes.
