Truly a great experience. I've followed this creator for a long time and always have enjoyed his work. from subterranean losers to this. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. it's short it's fun and it's def gonna be a game I come back to. the platforming isn't super challenging but I don't think this was trying to be a hard game. it almost reminds me of Button City in both visuals and aesthetics. me and my friend Koda are gonna be making a whole video talking about this game and you'll be able to hear me gushing over the creator. def i big inspiration for my work. check out mine and kodas review here: https://youtu.be/YgEedr-NGJ4?si=hu2Ee73qkZSa5tK7
A review copy was provided by the developer.
🔶 Pangolin Cassowary is a short 3d platform game, explore the city with your duo characters. 🔶
Graphics (6.5 / 10) :
The graphics are simple, but work well with the overall design of the game, all mainly based on city atmosphere. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3155871002
Gameplay (8 / 10) :
3d Platform based on double characters gameplay, one can glide and swin in water, and you can kick the others ones for dashing and bounce like a rolling ball. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3155870712 Each level have a main objective (get the ticket of next level), with secondary objectives to get (get all 100 coins / Timed mode / Hidden challenging room / Secret item to get) 5 main levels to visit, all can be found in the main hub https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3155870804
Price (3.5 / 10) :
Game cost 10.79 euros, 5 levels to explore + 1 tutorial level, and take around 1 hour for main complexion, and 3 hours with secondary objectives, really too short game for the price asked and hope for new levels in the future ..
Story/Music/Optimization (6.5 / 10) :
No story The music is good, calm song with characters sound for rolling / walking, each area has his unique song. No problem with optimization, run well without any freeze (played on a i5, 2Go VRAM and 8Go RAM), and make to run on almost every PC system.
Final Note (6.1 / 10) :
🔶 Pangolin Cassowary is a unique 3d platform game, but with a really too low content for the asked price, hope to see new levels in the future, half recommended in the current state 🔶 💚💚💚 : - Good unique gameplay - Secondary objectives on all level (Timed, Get all Coins, Secret to found …) ❌❌❌ : - High price for only 5 levels - All levels are only based on city design. This is a short but nice platformer with multiple goals in each level and some unique mechanics The game obviously borrows the idea of character duos from Banjo-Kazooie and Yooka-Layee. However, the gameplay is a bit like a real-time version of Kirby's Dream Course. The demo was submitted to the Sonic/SEGA fangame expo SAGE in 2023, and it's really nice to see something finished this quickly and this polished. Not only that, the system requirements are extremely low! it's great to see a Unity game so well optimized. I did have issues with Proton on Linux, which the dev told me is not officially supported. The save file is not easy to transfer, so you may want to play on a real Windows PC if possible.
very fun physics platformer with a good gimmick, i 100% the game in 1 sitting because its just that fun to play W animals and would like to see more from this dev
Platformer with unique mechanic that you can beat in less than an hour. The main characters are two animals you may not recognize. The first is a large bird called a cassowary, while the second is an anteater-like pangolin. You control the cassowary, while the pangolin sits on the bird's back. The catch is that the bird cannot jump while the animal is on its back, so you must use the game's mechanics to navigate gaps and platforms. Aside from basic movement controls, there is only one button to worry about. When you press it, the pangolin is flung like a bowling ball on the ground or into the air. You don't have direct control over the angle because you can only pick between four choices. In this game, throwing replaces jumping. When you hit the button again after throwing the pangolin, the bird immediately flies to it to pick it up. This enables you to throw it again and move around the stage. Because there is no visual cue to show where you land, you're likely to miss a few throws. Fortunately, you can respawn shortly at the nearest checkpoint. Bouncy surfaces and speed circles are prominent features that can propel the pangolin to seemingly inaccessible locations. Another thing to remember is that the bird falls slowly, allowing you to aim for platforms while descending. This is a little game, hence the stages are small. Also, there are only five of them. The overall purpose is to find the bus ticket at each level. If you want to push yourself, you can try to complete five secondary objectives, such as locating 100 chips and clearing a challenge area. One bonus is a very cleverly hidden secret item that adds an object to the main hub. The price is a bit steep for the content it delivers. The game can be completed in about an hour, and there are no achievements that will motivate you to continue for all of the secondary objectives.
Pangolin Cassowary is a lovingly made joy of a game. Just a really good time.
Was ich bisher erreicht habe? Alles weg. Was bitte soll dieser absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?
I LOVE THIS GAME TO DEATH. I know it says I've only played for a little but I've played the demo for an ungodly amount of time. I am currently the world record speed runner in this game and would love to see this fun speed run game community to grow larger. Thank youooou.
Delightfully simple yet intensely fun. Never played a game with movement like this but it is amazing.
Really excellent! this game deserves a ton more attention, the controls take a bit to wrap your head around, but once you learn them the level design here is really special. One of my favorite 3d platformers from the current revival wave!
