A Better World

This game has a great concept, but the game is realy superifical and the game developer has too little of the understandanding of historical and geopolitical context to develop such a game, which makes this game more of aparody than a real game. For example in the 1960 us and ussr suddenly become allies because european countries and china want to go to space????? The whole story of the game feels like it was written by high schoolers. But the biggest sin that this game made is that the Polish-French physicist and chemist Maria Skłodowska-Curie is mentioned as a French scientist Marie Curie.

The original ABW Blue put my expectation wayyy too high for this game. The game feels restrictive and shallowed. The plot and choices are weird, like you have to go through loops and holes to make someone a famous actor, but you can just remove Richard Nixon from history outright (BASED) and nothing of substances changed, like what?! The Earth character (Globo?) doesn't even speak, and I don't want to read subtitles in a game where I have to read other things that's happening while the subtitles running. Also, the achievement implementation is awful, your completed objectives per assignment aren't saved, so if you move on to a different assignment, you'd have to do every objective (including ones you already did) in the previous assignment again to get the achievements. tldr: Go play ABW Blue instead. It's free, on browser, and more enjoyable.

Ill leave others to talk about the timeline choices as for me personally they seem fine, however there is a clear problem with the interface and gameplay presented. I constantly felt, "oh this has lit up i click that now," rather than every button having a purpose that you learn and come back to. I became frustrated that you couldnt click on a tab to see what they are doing at that date even if nothing substantial has happened yet, and you are often forced to click on another tab only to come back to the next event for the page you were just on. It feels less like a chose your own adventure game and more like a click the next button. While this is a shame, as the game concept, art and writing are cool, its moment to moment gameplay soreley lets it down.

It's a two hour game for $12 usd. That's kinda a high price ngl. I was expecting at least 8 hours of content for that price.

Honnêtement, le jeu est sympathique. Pas très cher, le résultat final est moindre que ce que je m'imaginais mais est malgré tout très sympathique et vous donnera un bon moment de gameplay et de texte à lire. Alors pourquoi un avis négatif ? Deux raisons. La première est que pour avoir els succès d'une mission, il faut en voir toutes les fins en une session de jeu. Soit faire une fin et redémarrer la mission jusqu'à toutes les obtenir ; SANS QUITTER LE JEU. Vous ne pouvez pas le faire en plusieurs parties étalées sur plusieurs sessions de jeu. C'est frustrant. Et la deuxième, parce que comme si ça ne suffisait pas, le jeu souffre de bugs bloquant parfois les missions et nécessitant de redémarrer le jeu. Par exemple, dès que je redémarre la 5e mission, celle-ci est bloquée, plus moyen d'intéragir avec quoi que ce soit pour la lancer ou redémarrer. Vous vous dites sans doute que ce sera corrigé ? Et bien non. Ca fait des mois que els bugs sont connus et reportés, mais rien n'est fait. Par contre, quand le jeu a eu l'opportunité de recevoir un prix, l'équipe qui jusqu'ici ne touchait plus au jeu nous a fait un joli post pour nous en faire part. Mais des corrections ? Rien au programme. Si vous voulez juste faire une partie, allez-y et amusez-vous. Mais si vous voulez en plus récupérer les succès, passez votre chemin.

Jeu sympathique qui rappelle la série Loki avec l'impact du voyage dans le temps et des décisions qui changent la réalité le tout accompagné d'une "Miss Minute". Le jeu pourrait/devrait être un peu plus complexe par moment.

it is mostly well-written and I like the vibe. My only complaint is that they didn't really build a branching narrative between assignments, only within each assignment, which makes it feel a bit hollow. It's like a 6/10, it's not bad but it's well-made and enjoyable enough I wouldn't reccomend against it either. It's the classical "Would be a sideways thumb if Steam had the option".

I don't know if they're officially connected but this was a really enjoyable spin on the text-based browser game of the same name. It's much more linear than its predecessor--a necessary compromise to make room for the main story--and the game is easy to play with fairly straightforward mechanics. It's sorely needing an option to undo your last decision to minimize having to replay the same missions over and over from the beginning, but I had enough fun exploring the different timelines that it was a minor annoyance at best. The controls were mostly intuitive but having to constantly go between the terminal and Globos didn't always make sense to me. It's never clear what the "right" decision is when you're faced with choices, but I think that's actually a good thing. It forces you to think things over carefully. But, well, see previous comment about desperately needing an "undo previous choice" button instead of having to reset the whole timeline to get the outcome you want. You'd think a game about time travel would be more flexible with its time travel options. Overall, I felt like I got my money's worth, and the game definitely feels like a proof of concept. Some polish in the controls and visual language of the game is all I really felt was lacking.
