Its by far the worst RM, even if you got this for free I would recommend another RM over it, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative because MV or MZ are too expensive for you, check out 2000, 2003, XP or VX Ace, these engines are all much better than VX, if you want the best price to value, if you want the best price to value I would recommend XP, especially when its on sale, however you might prefer a more modern engine in which case VX Ace would remain affordable, albeit more expensive than VX, or simply make the jump to either MZ or MV if you dont need what MZ offers and would like to spend a bit less, you could also go the opposite route and pick up 2000 or 2003 and make a more retro styled game, and that those are perfect for it, both engines are relatively similar and as such if you want to pick either one I'd say look at their differences and choose the one that you think is best for you, however do note that 2003 is cheaper than 2000 and contains every feature 2000 has. But I would not recommend getting VX, it brings very little to the table for its price point, and not to say you couldnt make a good game with it, you could make a great game with any engine, but RPG Maker is all about making things more simple for game devs, and VX is really not going to be providing much value in that regard for its price point compared to every other RPG Maker engines. I may not have used VX much but its limitations are personally not something I care to deal with.

pretty fun to do lil games like i do, but for bigger project, MX or MV should be a better tool
