Recommended. Ratings 7/10 (Great Class Changes, Well designed & detailed world) Romancing Monarchy is an excellent RPG Maker games which I enjoyed very much. It has very interesting class change mechanics. You can have a team of up to 7 members, 4 of which have fixed classes and 3 of them have class changing abilites. For the 3 team members that have the ability to change class, you will retain all the skills of your previous classes when you change. This is really cool, especially if you are able to keep passive skills like MP Regen from the Crusader class!!! Changing classes however, is not that simple, as some of them have various "chained" pre-requistes. For example, to get to Scholar class, you need to be matured in both Armentalist and Ranger classes. Ranger require you to be mature in Thief and Armentalist. Armentalist require you to be mature in Warrior and Mage classes. So there are a lot of "chained" class pre-requisites that you need to worked on before you can have a Scholar. Furthermore some classes also depends on the sex of the team member as well. Berserker and Gadabout require you to be female, while Paladin and Mariner require you to be male. This is real interesting. The quests are also very interesting too. 3 of the fixed class team members can only be recruited via quests, and after 20+ hours I am still trying to find information of how to recruit them. Interesting. Some of the best equipments in the game are also heavily dependent on solving quests puzzles. For example to get Excalibur you will have to fully explore a pyramid with weird jumping rules and confusing teleporation patterns. Furthermore you possibly need to solve another quests to get the ability to save inside dungeons, which is really essentials. Even when you finally get the super weapon Excalibur, the questline does not end there. You can further improve on the power of Excalibur by dipping at a certain location inside a Volcano. Getting there is also difficult as you need to defeat a huge dragon boss called Bahamut. Haha, just when you think that you have finally done it, the developer love to throw in wonderful surprises!! I love it. I also think that the developer is trying to be modest by saying that the game is only 10+ hours. Well, I have already enjoyed 20+ hours of fun filled gaming and have yet to even recruit my 3 remaining fixed class super heroes :). I am still looking forwward to many more hours of interesting game play, and will post and update later. This game is defintely worth the current sale price of $1.79 (40% discount). Given how interesting and fun this game is, I would be more than happy to even pay full price for it. I definitely recommend this game.

It's a mix of all the fun things from most rpgs. Dragon quest/warrior medals classes and change system, abit of FF1 on NES, Except you learn the skills when you hit certain lvls Overall it's just pleasent so far. there are plenty of games that do less and cost way more.
I paid 2.99USD for this game and I think you get pretty good value from this game. It does nothing out of the ordinary when compared to other RPGs but I like how it's a throwback to earlier Dragon Quest games. Grab this if you like RPG Maker games that are actually decent or are looking for a cheap turn-based fix.
This is really a great game. Ability to change classes, carry over abilities, and customize the way you play is a lot of fun. You will run into some issues at the start with some tough magic dealing enemies that will potentially wipe your group. Do not let this deter you from a super fun rpg. Saving is pretty crucial to continue having success in the game and there is a little bit of trial and error when you get the boat to determine where you should go. Have fun playing this game and enjoy the days of classic rpg from the SNES.
dont buy this piece of ♥♥♥♥ game u cant save and when u enter your first battle u cant kill enemy u die and have to make a new game wtf
I was forced to quit before finishing even just the second tower (the one with the jack-o-lanterns). They wipe half your health with just one attack, while always attacking first. And as you are not able to flee a battle (mandatory option for any rpg imo), my party died, leaving me with the only option to start all over again, which I have no intention to do. Was I supposed to grind for several hours to level up before entering the tower? Also the pathfinding when clicking on the destination needs to be worked on. The character often went the wrong direction, especially when the destination I clicked on was on the other side of a corridor. Although I really liked the retro feeling (loved to play Lufia and the like), I am not willing to continue to play this game. [EDIT] Now that I know how to flee a battle, I thought I should give the game a second go - and also as I highly appreciate developers who listen and react to feedback. (First off regarding the save option: I saw that. I had to start over as I just didn´t [expect having to] save that early) So, how did it turn out? Well, I have yet to see a successful flee attempt. 100% of the times I tried, I failed. Maybe it only works on enemies weaker in level and numbers, which would make the option obsolete as there would be no need to flee such battles. What else came to mind after the second attempt? The menu needs some work. Why are the formation and flee options not shown in the main list? No wonder I didn´t see it. I have to scroll down to access the item tab anyway, so there would be room for two more. Why doesn´t the bestiary show the elemental resistances of an enemy? At least once I had cast a spell against an enemy and it was weak, that information should be added to the bestiary. Otherwise, there is no real reason to look into it. It would be nice if the in-fight messages would stay in a log you can scroll through. Some messages are too fast gone to read them. And last, but not least: as you suggested it - what do the different difficulty settings change? Just the health of the enemies? Or do they also alter the rewards? Anyway, in my second attempt, I grinded my characters to lvl 8-9 and bought the good equipment - resulting in getting wiped out by a bunch of spectres this time when trying to grind more effectively within the tower. Spectres are even more overpowered enemies than the jack-o-lanterns. Absolutely no chance to beat them at that level. Which made it clear that this game is not meant for me. A little grind is okay, but this (over 2 hours of monotonous and barely rewarding grind) is too much.
A good little game. Not so easy to play, because it needs some tactics about classes. Bosses are strong enough to give a challenge. After 5 hours spent, I'm far away from the end. Thank for this game. It is cheap, so i had no regrets to buy it. Honestly, I had never think that a little game like this gave me sensation that i search when i play a game. I'm not asking for more. (if i wrote mistakes, sorry, english is not my first language)
Игра камбэком из прошлого, как и все rpg makers.Пушечка.Заипался писать уже.
Leg sweep op.
Poorly balanced and derivative. Seems to mainly consist of a bunch of scenarios lifted from old Dragon Quest games.
